Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2005 Chevy Express 2500 3/4 Ton Van

Question:

Interested in Drawtite 41946 hitch for my 2005 Chevy Express 2500 3/4 ton van. Your pictures show a 40 and 11/16 hole center to center distance but my van measures 40 and 1/16. Is there possibly an error in the picture dimension? With a bolt width shown in your picture I dont see how this can fit my van. Thanks for your help.

The Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver w/ Cast Center - Custom Fit - Class V - 2" # 41946 is a confirmed fit for your 2005 Chevy Express van but the measurements are correct. This hitch does require drilling to install rounding out the holes, so that may account for the difference.

My recommendation for you is to use the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class IV - 2" # 14090 which measures 40 inches wide on center. This hitch requires no drilling for installation. I've attached other measurements to assist.

For your trailer wiring, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118392. This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your Chevrolet Express Van's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side interior trim panels in your rear cargo area.

For a ball mount, I recommend the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 5" Drop, 5-1/2" Rise - 10K - Black # BWTS10037B. This will give you an adjustable mount to tow multiple trailers level. It also has two integrated hitch balls to fit a 2 inch coupler or a 2-5/16 inch coupler. This ball mount has a really nice and clean looking stow away option that will protect your shins when not in use. I recommend using a hitch lock like # e98882 to protect your investment.
