I do see that a deepdrop rear step bumper was offered on your 1972 Chevrolet K-20 pickup. If this is what you have the Curt 3-Piece Trailer Hitch Receiver # C15511 is the receiver I recommend using. Otherwise the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C14082 will fit the standard bumper which came on the K-20 or one of the aftermarket step bumpers that was often used as a replacement. We do have images on our product pages with both these installed so you can see how they will fit with their style bumpers.
The 4-Pole Hardwire Kit # C58044 will allow you to add a 4-way flat harness. Otherwise if you need a 7-way with brake controller you will also need the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 and a Brake Controller # 90195.
