How Long Will Grease In Pre-Greased Hub Last When Kept In Trailer As A Spare?
Updated 05/07/2021 | Published 05/04/2021 >
Question:
If I buy this pre-greased hub, and keep it as a spare in my trailer not installed, do I have to pull it apart and repack bearings yearly like I do with the bearings that are installed? It would be nice to be able to just leave it in the box until I inevitably need it on the side of the road.

I was able to confirm that the grease in a pre-greased hub like the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 5,200-lb and 6,000-lb Axles - 12" - 6 on 5-1/2 - Pre-Greased # AKHD-655-6-K will last roughly 5 years before needing to be changed, given the hub has not been installed and is kept out of the elements.
I included a video of the # AKHD-655-6-K for you to take a look at.
