E-Z Lube and Easy Grease-Compatible Hub for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube or etrailer Easy Grease axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

  • Replacement Hub for a UFP H-1377 on a 2004 Tahoe Boat Trailer
The UFP H-1377 correlates to a Dexter #84 spindle, which is for a 3,500 pound axle. This will utilize an inner bearing # L68149 and an outer bearing # L44649. As this is being used on a boat trailer, I highly suggest going with the etrailer.com # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K. This is galvanized and will be the best option available for your trailer. This also includes both the inner and outer bearings, the grease seal, the grease cap, and the lug nuts.

  • How To Measure A Trailer Spindle To Find Replacement Hubs And Bearings
To make sure you find the right replacement hubs you can do a couple of things. First check out the bearing and see if you can find the numbers for the bearings either etched or stamped on the side of the bearing. If you can not find the numbers you will need to measure the spindle. I have attached a drawing that shows where you need to measure the spindle to find the right replacements. The drawing also shows where to measure for a seal as well. You will also need to measure the inside...

  • What is the Inner Diameter of the 3,500 lbs Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly?
The Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3,500-lb Axles item # 84545UC1-EZ fits a item # L68149 bearing which has a 1.378" inner diameter. I would not recommend using this hub on a boat trailer. Instead, you'll want a galvanized one like item # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K. It's designed to get wet so it'll last longer. What kind of boat trailer do you have?

  • How To Find Correct Replacement Hubs for Ram-Lin Boat Trailer
I have a few options for you to help with identifying the hub on your trailer. The first and easiest method would be to crawl under the trailer and look for the axle tag on the beam. This should give an axle capacity which we can then use to find the bearings based off industry standards. For example, a 2,000 lb axle uses L44649 bearings like what comes with the Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly part # AKIHUB-545-2-G-EZ-2K. The other option would be to take the hubs off the trailer...

  • Looking For New Hubs For 5x10 Trailer
Hello Shelly, thanks for reaching out. We offer a lot of different hubs so we should have something that will work for you. I was not able to find any references for those part numbers though, so a bit more investigating will be needed to find the right hubs. Knowing the weight capacity of the axle will help to narrow things down. The best way to determine what you need will be to pull one of the hubs and remove the bearings. Each bearing will have number stamped on the edge, or you...

  • Will 3,500 lb Kodiak Disc Brake Kit Fit 2012 EZ Loader Boat Trailer
Hi Dave; the old Dexter DB-35 brakes are designed for 3,500 lb axles. I believe that was a hub/rotor disc brake kit so the Kodiak Disc # K2R35D will work for your trailer as long as you add a hub like # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K with a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern and have wheels that are 14" or larger. You could also replace it using the # K2HR35D which has the full hub/rotor.

  • How To Determine Which Replacement Standard Hubs Will Fit Marine Master Trailer with Vault Hubs
I'd be happy to help, but I need to know the capacity of your axle, if you have brakes, and the bolt pattern. The easiest way to get this information is on the axle tag which is located on the center of the axle beam, so sending me a picture of that would be the easiest for both of us. If that tag is missing, then what you'll need to do is remove one of the hubs and using digital calipers # PTW80157 measure the spindle in the locations shown in the diagram below. Also while doing this...

  • Can Galvanized Dexter 3,500 lb Hub 8-248-50 be Used on EZ Lube Spindle
Yes, the Kodiak Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # Q-HUB84545 that you referenced is perfectly compatible with EZ lube spindles. The only difference between the hubs that are EZ lube and non-EZ lube is the cap style. So for an EZ lube style cap that fits this hub you'd just need the part # DC200L-DCRP and you'd be set.

  • Could The Timbren Axle-Less Suspension Be Used For Tow-Behind-Motorcycle Coffin Trailer?
Hey Joe, thanks for reaching out. Your coffin trailer idea sounds killer! I was able to find a few pictures of similar trailers on google and a lot of those things look pretty cool so hopefully I can be of some help here. I can definitely see the axle-less suspension being a good option for this application. There would be no way to actually "soften" the ride on the Timbren # ASR2KHDS01 but if you think the 2,000 lb capacity would be too stiff, there is a 1,200 lb capacity option that...

  • Looking For Bearing Buddy That Has The Same Threads As Dexter Oil Cap 48399A
Hello Ronnie, thanks for reaching out. Based on my research, the Dexter Oil Cap 48399A measures 2.33". Sadly there is not a bearing buddy in this size. The closest we have to this size will be the Bearing Buddy # BB2441T-SS (2.441" hub bore) or Bearing Buddy # BB2328 (2.328" hub bore), which is not threaded. The only way we can get a Bearing Buddy for you would be to replace the hubs with something that has a more common hub bore diameter. This will require you to verify your inner and...

  • Looking For Replacement Hubs And Bearings For A DW58 Swivelwheel Trailer
Hello Derek. I can definitely point you in the right direction. Unfortunately, we do not have a way to accurately recommend a hub or bearings based on just the model of trailer. Knowing the axle weight capacity can help to narrow things down. The only way for you to truly know what hub to get will be for you to go to the trailer, remove one of the hubs and unpack the bearings. Each bearing should have a number stamped on the edge which we can use, or you can measure the OD and ID with a...

  • Info Needed to Find Replacement Bearings/Hub
It's probably a torsion axle and not a leaf spring axle. If you have the bearings already out try measuring the inner diameter of them and get me that info and I'll be able to tell more info from that. As far as maintenance goes basically you just need to make sure there is grease in the hub and you're good assuming the bearings are in good shape etc. To pick out hubs I would also need to know the wheel bolt pattern as well.

Yes, the etrailer.com Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K referenced in your question will work perfectly with the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System # ASR3500S06. This galvanized, 3,500 pound idler hub uses the needed bearings and seal to match up with the spindles on the Timbren system. The hub features a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern and the E-Z lube-compatible grease cap will allow for easy lubrication of the bearings. The galvanized finish offers superior corrosion...

  • Correct Replacement for TDE 46210 Trailer Hub
There typically aren't any part numbers stamped onto the trailer spindle that can be used for identification. There are however numbers stamped onto the hub most times which can be used for identification. The TDE46210 tells me you have a 3,500 lb axle so you can use the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly part # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K for galvanized or part # AKIHUB-545-35-K for standard.

It is certainly possible to switch from hubs/drums to idler hubs on a trailer axle.
