Question:
I am ready to purchase parts to tow my Versa. I am hesitant because I have never seen one towed during my travels. Some sites say that it is a towable vehicle but there is no mention of it in the owners manual. Do you know for sure that it can be done? It seems like a good vehicle to tow because it is light.

According to page 10-17 in the online version of the owner's manual for your 2017 Nissan Versa, if the vehicle has a manual transmission then it can be flat-towed with four wheels down but if it has an automatic or continuous variable transmission (CVT), it must be towed using a tow dolly under the drive wheels.
If you have the automatic or CVT transmission then I recommend the Roadmaster Tow Dolly part # RM-2050-1. This dolly has electric brakes for safety. It also comes with lights and everything else you need to hit the road except for a trailer connector for which you can use part # PK11604 for a 6-way or part # PK12706 for a 7-way. I have attached a review video of the dolly for you as well.
If you have a manual transmission then you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, wiring, supplemental braking system, and a possible high-low adapter. I have attached my recommendations on each of the following parts for you below.
Base Plate Kit: Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit part # RM-52357-4A
Tow Bar: Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar part # RM-520
Safety Cables: RoadMaster Single Hook Coiled Safety Cables part # RM-643
Supplemental Braking System: Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System part # RM-8700 and Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles part # RM-88400
Flat-Tow Wiring: Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles part # RM-152-98146-7
High-Low Adapter: See Article
I have attached review/install videos on some of the above parts for you as well.
