Video Transcript for Review of Roadmaster Hitch Adapters - Dual Hitch Adapter - RM48BQ

Hi everyone. Steve here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at our Roadmaster Dual Receiver Hitch Adapter. Folks, this is gonna give you a 6-inch rise or drop and a weight rating of 10,000 pounds. So, if you're towing a trailer and you wanna mount a bike rack or another hitch accessory at the same time, this is a great option for you. It's got a nice powder coat finish on it as well as you can see, so it's gonna resist rust corrosion.

The shank back here from where they've welded in place is solid steel. It's a 2x2" shank. It's gonna fit those 2" hitch receivers. And again, you can use it, like I've got it now, if this was slid in, this would be a rise. And if you need to drop it down, maybe you got a high truck vehicle whatnot, you could slide it in and now you have a 6" drop.

You have your standard hitch pin holes here and your standard tubes here to slide those 2" accessories into. You also have your standard hitch pin hole back here in the back. The weight rating is gonna be a gross vehicle weight rate of 10,000 pounds max, and a max tongue weight capacity of 400 pounds. So, make sure you're checking both your hitch on your vehicle for its specific ratings, and also the ratings on your accessories. So, even though this and any other accessory says it's rated for X-amount, you're only limited or you're limited, rather, to whatever the max is on that particular accessory.

So, keep that in mind. Same thing with your factory hitch. Folks, that's gonna wrap it up for our quick look together. I'm Steven. Stay safe while you're towing.

Set-up looks great Darell! What kind of awesome adventures have you been on this year?

by:

I had a 10” drop but was too low for new trailer. Ordered the 6” drop and it shipped very quickly.

by:

Rhiannon was very helpful!

by:

Shipped very fast, perfect packaging.

by:

Very well made. Would definitely recomm end!

I replaced a 5 year old RM-077-4 AKA PAR-077 with the RM48BQ AKA PAR-068 from Roadmaster due do the Par-068 having the base receiver slot at the same level as the hitch on my motorhome. This gave me a little more ground clearance as well as bringing the blue ox closer the level with my truck tow bar. I only wish someone would resoulve the slop issue they all have. Tollerance between the receiver and the adapter is enough to have rattle and movement. The quick fix square bolt clamps Don't hold up for long on backroads. I engineered my own .65 shim for the bottom and a C shaped .65 rattle shim for the side. This takes out 95% of the wiggle. Otherwise the Dual Receiver surves my need for a bicycle rack and the toad. ETrailer provides outstanding service and quality as always.

by:

Very good, mostly. The upper receiver, as shown the way it's oriented on the product page, isn't long enough for a typical hitch ball receiver. Thus, you can't "flip" the unit over and run it as a 6" rise. The hitch ball receiver hole just won't come quite far enough into the upper receiver to allow the hitch pin to pass through.

So, this unit, despite being very sturdy and well made, comes up short on the versatility side.

by:

Looks to be a solid hitch. Received it quickly

by:

Great product, arrived sooner than expe cted.

by:

The dual hitch seems very sturdy, but my bike rack will not go into the top hitch. I think I am going to have to "clean" out the inside of the reciever and give it another try.

by:

Good well made and heavy duty.

by:

Product as advertised exactly what I needed thank you etrailer

by:

The hitch itself is heavy duty and great quality. Unfortunately we can not use it for the purpose we intended.

by:

Both receivers on this product have slightly rounded interior corners. The post on my cargo carrier has square corners so it not go into the receiver.

  • Can I Use The Roadmaster Dual Receiver Hitch Adapter With The Hollywood Racks RV Rider
Hey, William! The Roadmaster dual receiver hitch adapter part # RM48BQ that you're looking at is made for your exact scenario! The only think you may want to consider would be turning clearance. While the bike rack will remain stationary your vehicle will become closer to the bike rack when turning. The Hollywood Racks RV Rider Bike Rack # HLY64FR sticks out 32 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the farthest point on the rack. With your Jetta hooked up behind your RV, measure...

  • Does etrailer Sell a 1 1/4" to 1 1/4" High to Low Adapter
Hey Glenn, unfortunately we do not. We have high to low adapters like the Brophy Hitch Adapter # HT5R which is a 1 1/4" to 2" adapter, but nothing that goes from 1 1/4" to 1 1/4". I'd instead recommend measuring your rise and drop to find out what you need, and order a ball mount that has the rise/drop you need, that way you don't need the adapter. I've attached a quick FAQ which goes into how you can measure your rise/drop for you to check out. If you need a little help after you've...

  • Can I Tow a 7,000 lb Horse Trailer With the Roadmaster Dual Receiver Hitch Adapter?
Hello Doug, Thanks for writing in. Yes, you can tow a 7,000 lb horse trailer using the Roadmaster Dual Receiver Hitch Adapter # RM48BQ, as long as your vehicle's hitch and towing capacities are rated to handle that weight. For towing, you'll want to use the lower receiver opening with your ball mount. The upper receiver is designed for carrying an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier while you're towing. The # RM48BQ is rated for up to 10,000 lbs of trailer weight, so a 7,000...
