Wow, that truck bed extension really works! You may use this photo for publicity. I drove from Minneapolis to remote Minnesota to my off grid place...about 6 hours with no issues whatsoever! When we went to pick up the trusses at Menards, the guy doing the loading said "no way" can you get that in your truck!! Guess he was wrong

Gosh, I am sorry you were missing any pieces at all. You really shouldnt have to wait for your things to come in the mail and then ALSO make a trip to the store. I am going to look into this for you and see if we cant get the missing hardware sent your way.

by:

I have used it to transport my 13’ foot kayak and also 12’ of ladder in the 6 1/2’ pickup truck bed and it worked great. It was also easy to assemble and it’s easy to install in hitch. I am very satisfied with this extender.

by:

Item allows me to haul my kayak and my Grumman sport canoe in the back of my short-bed pickup. Works perfectly. As I got older, putting the boats on the top of the vehicle became too difficult, and this is a perfect solution. Item is easy to assemble and easy to put on and remove, and I really like the fact that it folds up when not in use. Highly recommended.

Ive used it many time to haul kayaks and canoes without incident. Works very well and so much easier than trying to put boats on the top of the truck. I just cut an old pool noodle to act as padding on the metal part of the bed extender. Need to replace that periodically, but saves much scratching on the gunwales of the kayaks. Love this item.

by:

Outstanding product however more outstanding service. My first one had been damaged and parts missing, I contacted Jamie at E-trailer and received a new extender in no time. I was very pleased .

by:

Performed flawlessly

by:

Easy to fold, store and connect to 2" h itch.

by:

Worked really well bringing 4x4s home last weekend. This will come in handy.

by:

It’s the best on the market! We had our extender delivered overnight for a canoe trip we originally didn’t plan on attending. The folks Etrailer followed up with a phone call after placing my order to ensure all info was correct and it shipped exactly on time for us to make our trip.

Nice fold up bed extender. It’s been left in the truck since I received it over a year ago. I’ve used it 10-12 times. Especially great for tying thin flexible material such as 12 foot trim. I’ve also hauled 16 foot decking boards without worry.

by:

When I got home yesterday I had a bad feeling when I seen the box but was to tired to open it.tape was pretty much holding it together today I opened it only to find out the nut, bolt hitch pin and clip wasn't there. Disappointed

That would be very disappointing! I looked into your order and our customer service team is already working with the manufacturer to send you the missing pieces.

by:

I use this for hauling lumber. It's very sturdy and easy to assemble. Also once assembled it goes on and off the truck in seconds. Easily handles 14 foot boards probably could go 16 but I haven't tried yet.

by:

Works great for getting 16’ boards home from the lumber yard.

by:

Overall the extender was a great buy and good quality. Just disappointed it does not come with its own hitch pin and it just barley supports my long canoe.

You are right in that these extenders do not come with a hitch pin. What I would recommend for it would be an anti rattle lock like part # 63232. It will add safety along with anti wobble in the receiver. The distance from the center of the pin hole in your hitch receiver to the outer edge of the extender is 49.5 inches. This is long enough to work with most canoes and kayaks however you will want to measure to make sure. The longest extender that we offer is part # MAL32VR which would be 53 inches out.

by:

Great service, good pricing, fast delivery. Plus great on-line technical responses to queries.

by:

Made very well! Has some weight to it. The instructions pretty self explanatory. I haven’t used it yet but purchased to haul decking

Great this thing is awesome! Did my deck and was able to get longer boards, also my brother used to for his. Well worth the monet

by:

Easy to set up. It solved the problem of hauling my extension ladder and lumber. I was impressed with etrailer.com service. After submitting the order online, I realized I had made an error. I called the 1-800 and got quick service, and received a followup call, that did not have to be made, but showed their level of service commitment. I learned about the Bed Load Extender from a review in the Journal of Light Construction. I found etrailer.com by chance online, am glad that I did, and look forward to my next purchase with them.

Great. My pickup has a short bed, and this took care of that shortcoming. Well built, durable and folds into a compact size!

by:

The Erickson Big Bed Extender is a great design & is very well built. When attached to my 2013 F150 w/6.5 ft bed, it extends 11 feet from the front wall of my truck bed providing plenty of support for 12 ft and longer loads with plenty of hooks for tie down straps. I bought this extender to haul a 17 ft long kayak for ease of loading and less wind resistance vs an overhead rack system. As an added bonus, when folded up, it's super easy to store behind the seat or haul in the bed of the truck when not in use. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a handy way to increase the versatility of their pickup truck. Much thanks to Etrailer's excellent customer service and super fast (free) shipping.

Dear jmhawk, I just bought the erickson big bed extention 07601 to make into a high mount. It would benice if they included some instructions.

by:

Package arrived with box tore up, the hardware needed to put together was missing, called etrailer the next day, they took care of the issue and had hardware a couple of days later. Thank You costumer support!! Have used the Erickson Big Bed Load Extender 1 time to haul a sheet of plywood and a 16 ft kayak 400+ miles, worked great and then folds up to not take a lot of room up in the garage.

by:

Works as expected

by:

Was just what I needed to carry my Canoe in back of truck bed without having to put up on racks. Much easier at ground level getting on and off vs rack height by myself.

Once installed in the hitch the minimum height is 16 inches. If you measure from the top of the receiver opening up 16 inches on your 2006 Dodge Magnum that will be the approximate height of the extender once installed. That will still bring you at an inch higher than your truck bed. • Load Extender for 2006 Ram 2500 Short Bed and 2×10×16 Boards
The Erickson Big Bed Load Extender # EM07600 would actually be a great option for your long boards since it is 48-1/2 inches wide overall. That is one of the widest load extenders available. As far as length this or really any of the extenders would be fine. I do recommend adding a hitch immobilizer # BX88224 because these extenders are known to have a fair amount of movement in the hitch (due it part to the length of the extender).
