Malone Axis Truck Bed and Roof Load Extender for 2" Hitches - 375 lbs - MPG907

Finally had an opportunity to use our new Malone Axis Bed Extender today and was very pleased. Needed the bed extender to transport my 12 ft. kayak. It was easy to assemble & install and remained stable throughout transport. It's heavy-duty construction ensures it will remain useful for many tasks in the future. It's better than I hoped it would be; just an excellent product.

Works great in my 2013 F-150 5.5ft bed. I like how the bottom bar is angled upward, this prevents it from scraping on my steep driveway. I ordered some extra DOT red/white reflective tape from Amazon to add to what was already there. The anti-wobble clamp bracket is a big plus, not every bed extender comes with one of these and those that don't have it rattle back and forth everytime you go over a little bump. My main use is lumber and my kayak.

etrailer processed and shipped the Malone Axis Truck Bed and Roof Load Extender on the same day ordered and it arrived 3 days later. Assembly was a breeze and it appears to be just what we needed for carrying long loads in our Tacoma bed or going vertical with the extender and using it for loads across the roof or over the tailgate. We look forward to putting it to use with 10 ft kayaks, a 17 ft canoe and all sorts of lumber and other long items. It is heavy duty, well built and flexible in how to orient the extender for a given load. The parts are a bit loose fitting so expect a bit of rattling, but that may better than tight fitting pieces that could be difficult to assemble. It comes with a brace that fits over the top of your hitch and over the 2x2 tube of the extender to firmly stabilize it in place at the hitch. My bet is the load on the extender will tighten the other components so rattle may only be noticeable when in the hitch without any load on it. So far, it appears to be just what we needed in terms of flexibility of use (vertical and horizontal) and in the load it will handle (375 lbs).

I had a cheaper type before, but I like this one better. The up angle on the back section does not hang up on my steep driveway. Used it right out of the box.

Product is as advertised and makes transporting items that are longer than the bed of your truck much safer.

This is a very nice bed extender. It’s strong, easy to assemble and meets safety requirements.I love mine and use it everyday at work.

- MPG907

Perfect for helping me load a 15' Gheenoe on my truck roof racks. The versatility of being able to reconfigure the carrier so it supports the canoe when transported in the truck bed is very convenient, After I purchased on line from etrailer for I received a Cabelas catalog the day after I received this product, where it was advertised.

Truck bed extender is heavy duty extends my six foot truck bed to 11 ft of supported area. I am delighted with the product.

- MPG907

The support seems to be well made and should work for my truck. There is a problem when assembling the two sections of the long support. It is very difficult to slide the second metal section onto the coupler which joins the parts. I had to file the weld on the inside of the tube and sand off all of the paint plus use grease on the other piece to get the tube to slide on. The safety pin is not needed because they are never coming apart again. Other than that it seems to be a good choice and to me is worth the additional money over the less expensive choices because the unit is designed to carry 4 x 8 sheets of material.

Great addition to my Tacoma makes it easier to carry the longer loads, (long boards and even my sunfish sailboat.

Has been excellent! Used many times, hauling lumber, and boats in my pickup.

Customer service was great! Due to the virus they couldn’t get a delivery to me for a month and offered an alternative solution. I spoke to a live person who was extremely helpful. I then received my new order in 3 days. It worked perfectly. Thank you, Odelia.

  • Recommended Bed Extender for 2001 Ford Ranger to Carry Kayak
The good news is that bed extenders rely on the trailer hitch receiver on your truck and they're not going to be vehicle specific-which is why they're not showing up in the fit guide for your specific vehicle. So, as long as you've got a 2" receiver like the Curt # 13138 on your 2001 Ford Ranger you'll be able to use the Malone # MPG907 without any issues. This bed extender will add up to 62" to your truck bed and will provide a nice, sturdy base to carry your 14 foot long kayak. In...

  • Comparing Malone Axis and MaxxTow MaxxHaul Truck Bed and Roof Load Extenders
The Malone Axis Truck Bed and Roof Load Extender for 2" Hitches part # MPG907 and MaxxTow MaxxHaul Truck Bed and Roof Load Extender part # MT70231 are both great options for hauling kayaks, lumber, etc. They are virtually identical besides the Malone option being rated slightly higher. I recommend the MaxxTow since this is more cost effective. That said, these options are both made overseas. If you want USA, the Thule Goalpost Hitch Mounted Load Bar part # TH997 is our only option....

  • Where Is the Height Measured for the Malone Axis Truck Bed and Roof Load Extender
In regards to the Malone Axis Truck Bed and Roof Load Extender part # MPG907, the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the top of the crossbar can be adjusted from 55-1/2" to 62-1/2". I spoke with Malone about the load stops but they were not able to provide any measurements unfortunately.

  • Roof Canoe Carrier System for Use with Hitch Load Support on 2018 Hyundai Ioniq
All roof racks currently made for your 2018 Hyundai Ioniq, shown on the linked page, consist of two crossbars and the related foot assemblies. But since you have a hitch support like the Malone Axis # MPG907 to hold one end of your canoe I do have a good solution for you that will cost much less. We offer canoe carriers that do not require any roof rack crossbar. These cost-effective carriers include items like the Malone Canoe Carrier with Tie-Downs # MPG156. This kit includes 4...

  • How Far Out Does the Malone Axis Truck Bed and Roof Load Extender # MPG907 Extend
On the Malone Axis Truck Bed and Roof Load Extender # MPG907 the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the furthest edge on the carrier is 53 inches. So to the nearest part of the up right it will be approximately 51 inches. By my calculations your 10 foot, 5 inch kayaks will overhang the bed by 41 inches. That means if you were to slide the kayaks all the way in the upright on this carrier would still be about 10 inches away. All of the similar extenders are a bit too long...

  • How To Haul Two 10' Kayaks In The Bed Of A Truck
In order to haul two kayaks in your 2016 Toyota Tacoma without placing them on the roof of your vehicle, you will need to use a load extender such as the Malone Axis Truck Bed and Roof Load Extender part # MPG907 if the bed of your truck is empty. The extender can be positioned for both vertical and horizontal load extensions. In your case, you will want to place the kayaks flat in the bed. This will not interfere with your tri-fold tonneau cover and will safely allow you to haul the...

Of your options they all are going to get the job done. If you're wanting something that looks the best I would go with the Yakima LongArm Extender # Y01149. If you're not concerned with the looks go with the Malone Axis # MPG907. It has more ground clearance in it's lowest setting but it's width is only adjustable from 24 inches to 48 inches so it may not be wide enough for your application. The Darby # DTA944 also has 48 inch width so be sure to measure your kayaks width to see which...

  • Could Hitch Extender be Used with Malone Axis Truck Bed Extender
We have an 18 inch extension for 2 inch hitches like the part # C45796 which should give you enough clearance with the Malone Axis Truck Bed and Roof Extender part # MPG907 to use it in the vertical position and still open the tailgate. You should note though that when you use an extender like this you end up cutting the capacity of the hitch it's installed in by 50 percent.
