TorkLift SuperTruss in SuperHitch

This SuperTruss hitch extender is specially designed to work with your SuperHitch trailer hitch (sold separately). Like most products from TorkLift, the primary purpose of this extender is to help create a towing setup that fits perfectly with your truck bed camper system. Not only will you be able to extend your trailer hitch receiver out far enough to clear the overhang of your camper, but you will also maintain a high enough weight capacity so that you can tow your trailer.

Heavy-Duty Towing with a Hitch Extension

Most hitch extensions dramatically reduce the towing capacity of your hitch setup, making it difficult to tow a loaded trailer over a certain weight. The SuperTruss, though, creates such a sturdy connection with your SuperHitch trailer hitch that you can still maintain a high weight capacity. To get the highest capacity possible, use a standard weight distribution system with the TorkLift towing setup.

The SuperTruss uses both of the receivers on your TorkLift SuperHitch to ensure a sturdy, secure connection. The solid shank of the extension's top tube slides into your top receiver, and the extension's lower compression tube installs in your bottom receiver. Each tube is held in place with the hitch pins and clips that were included with your SuperHitch. The connection between the extension and your hitch is reinforced with 2 sturdy steel collars that bolt around the tubes of the SuperTruss.

To give you absolute peace of mind, lateral support chains connect to the hitch and the extension on either side of your setup. Just attach one end of each chain to the extension and secure the opposite end to your SuperHitch. Then tighten the chains with the integrated turnbuckles. These chains not only provide extra security to keep the extension in place in your hitch, but they also transfer some of the weight back from the extension to your frame-mounted hitch.

How to Determine the SuperTruss Length You Need

If the camper is mounted on the truck:

Measure from the face of the truck's rear bumper to the outside edge of the camper's bumper. This is the length of the extension that you need.

If the camper is not mounted on the truck:

1. Measure from the inside of the front of your truck bed to the outside face of the truck's rear bumper.

2. Measure the camper's overall floor length from the rubber bumpers at the front to the outside edge of the rear bumper.

3. Find the difference between these 2 figures by subtracting. The difference is the length of the extension that you need.

The larger of two packages arrived with the actual smaller Torqlift box inside. All expected parts were delivered. The upper tube fit fine. The lower tube was very tight. I first removed some of the paint near the end of the tub with little success. I have the 20k Original Torqlift hitch. I decided to file the inside of the lower receiver and this smoothed out the problem. Then I found that the two stabilizing chains were four links two long for my application. I cut them shorter and PERFECTION! I provided the detail as realistic, but minor issues happened. As shown in the photo, the 36" extension looks very solid and I'm perfectly satisfied. 563425

Awesome product. The setup is simple but the lower pin hole was very hard to line up. I had to slightly open the hole as it wasn’t drilled straight to match the hitch pin hole. Once I cleaned this up everything lined right up. The upper extension was spot on and easy to line up. Make sure to closely follow the instructions on the collars that connect the two extensions. Each bolt takes two flat washers on each side. This was a 36” extension but I ordered the 48” two way power cable. Wrapped it around the extension and came out very clean. The two way cable nor the extension included hardware to mount the female plug end to the bracket. 698712

Well worth the cost a must investment if you would like to take care of your vehicle and boat and trailers. Assembled and installed flawlessly and easily. It seems as if the truck now pulls the boat/trailer right in the parallel with the towing vehicle. I invested in the 36 inch model. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because I have only used a few times so far. 653378

My Torklift Super Truss extension (3') gives me the clearance that I need for my truck camper overhang. It is really heavy-duty and works well for towing things behind my camper. Superior to single tube extensions which wobble and sway. 653105

Great product, now able to tow the boat with the camper. It is pretty heavy and it takes a little time to get it aligned properly at first, but after that it slides in and out of the reciever easily. 640108

Very heavy duty. The only difficulty was the coating on the male part of the hitch extension is too thick to allow the hitch to be inserted into the receiver. A couple passes with an angle grinder fitted with a wire brush took care of the problem. 465602

This is a nice heavy duty hitch Extension that I use when I have my cabover and haul my trailer. I used it to move from Fairbanks, Alaska to Idaho in February and although the trailer was severely overloaded (14 ruined tires and wheels along the way), the hitch extension was something I didn't have to worry about. Excellent product! 463547

We needed a way to pull our boat behind our F350 when the slide in camper was mounted. The camper sticks out a good way past the rear of the truck. The Super Truss extension works GREAT! Very heavy duty construction and well made. We needed the three foot extension and have pulled the boat many miles with confidence. I highly recommend the Super Truss if you need an extension. The folks at Etrailer are always very helpful if you have questions, shipping is very fast. Very happy customer here. 323955

The super truss is a must have for extended towing under a camper. This is not just a hitch extension. It locks in very solid with no movement for less stress on the hitch and vehicle frame. A much more solid way to tow with an extension. I used the Reese extension before and cracked the welds on my factory hitch. 160513

  • How To Choose the Correct Length of TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension
The proper extension for your setup would be the one that allows you to have clearance of your hitch mounted accessory and also allows you to still be able to pull the steps down. If the receiver tube sticks out past the camper too far then you will run into issues with the stairs not being able to be pulled out but if the receiver tube does not stick out far enough from under the camper then you will run into issues with clearance using your hitch mounted accessory. The only way for sure...

To get the same 34 inches, you can also use the Reese # RP45292 which is rated for the same capacity with weight distribution. Another option for a 2-1/2 inch receiver is Reese # RP45018, which will also allow the capacity of up to 6,000 lbs with weight distribution, but will give you a 41...

  • Carrying a 400 Pound Motorcycle at the Back of an RV
The use of any extender is going to reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent. So if the tongue weight capacity of your hitch is 750 pounds the use of an extender will reduce it to 375 pounds. Also the further the loaded carrier is away from the hitch the more movement it will have which puts considerably more stress on the hitch so I do not recommend the use of an extender for those 2 reasons. The other option is to use a different carrier; one that is rated...
