Crossbar Width of Erickson Big Bed Load Extender
Published 12/19/2017 >
Question:
The bed extender information states that the cross bar support arms are 48.5 inch wide when extended. I assume this dimension includes the wings at the ends of the cross bars which have holes for tie downs. If so, what is the dimension between the wings? Will a 4 ft. wide sheet of plywood or drywall lay flat on the cross bar support arms or will the wings interfere?

Expert Reply:
The Erickson Big Bed Load Extender # EM07600 has crossbars which are 48-1/2" when in use, and that dimension does not include the wings - or tie-down points - at the end of the crossbars. The 48-1/2" is usable space, so your 4' wide plywood or drywall will have 1/2" of space when you lay them down on the crossbars.
