Video Transcript for Redline Wiring - Tools for Wiring - A0250 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number A0250. This is the 3/4" metal loom clamp. The heavy duty wire loom clamp is made of a plated steel construction and it's also going to have that rubber sleeve that's designed to protect the loom and the cable, or the wires that run through it. It's going to hold it securely to a frame or panel surface. This part number is going to include one clamp. They're very versatile and can be used for many different applications.

It's going to measure 1/2" in width. The diameter of the mounting holes, those are going to measure 1/4". Then the opening for the wires, that's also going to measure 1/4". I have a piece of angle iron here today. This would resemble maybe mounting it to a trailer frame, but I just want to give you a visual example of how this would mount and hold your wires up and out of the way. what I would do first is simply just take my wires.

I'm using wires that would be connected to a standard four-way flat connector. We're going to have four wires. Each wires is going to be 16-gauge wiring. I place that inside my clamp and I close the clamp over the wiring. It's going to make my holes line up.

Already got a pre-drilled hole in my frame. I'd line up my hole there. You can use many different types of hardware. I'm simply just going to use a screw and then place a nut on the backside of it. Depending on your surface, you could use a screw, a bolt, a self-tapping screw, just whatever works for you. Your hardware is going to be sold separately.

Once you have that on there, you just tighten it down. You can see how that is going to secure the wires up and out of the way along whatever mounting surface you're going to be using these on. That's going to do it for our review of part number A0250. This is the 1/4" metal loom clamp. .

Metal Loom Clamp -1/4" - A0250

Average Customer Rating:  4.8 out of 5 stars   (58 Customer Reviews)

I took a trailer with no deck to get rewired and new lights. They ran the wires across two crossmembers. When i put the new deck down and bolted it to the crossmembers, the bolts came fairly close to the wiring and i knew the wires would eventually wear on the threads. So i used the 1/4 inch clips to secure the wires right to the existing new deck bolts. made a very clean wiring job. Next time i will buy the wire and lights at etrailer and install it myself this way.

Great performance as a retrofit kit on my (originally unbraked) 2015 TAG Max. Amazing value and the customer support from was fantastic. I will return for any further trailer needs.

Great product. I put my deck down with 1/4 inch cairrage bolts. I put these on under the crossmembers before the nut to secure wiring coming across to catch the marker lights on the fenders and the brake lights. made for a very clean job and nicely secures wires and keeps them from rubbing on the bolt threads.

Install went exactly as described in the installation video, I did the work myself with a set of ramps to elevate half the van at a time.

I purchased the both the hitch and proper wiring harness for my 2014 Kia Sorento from

They arrived quickly and in excellent condition.

The hitch install was fairly easy and the fit was excellent.

This is the second product I have purchased from and both were excellent experiences.

installed on trailer to hold all electrical wires. They have held up fantastic and I will order more when I use my present supply up.

fantastic, the perfect clamp for wires on a trailer
David S - 03/26/2018

Did the job, and kept my trailer wires neatly secured to my trailer.

Received my towbar, Airforce One and lighting kit in less than a week! Great videos and knowledgeable people, can't wait to get everything installed this week and get on the road. Thanks Susan and George for such a wonderful experience.

I used these to run new wiring for my trailer. Made the wiring neat and secure.

Havent had any issues. Wiring is perfect
George F - 06/19/2015

Made installing the trailer wiring harness on my van easier with these clips when I ran the wire underneath the van to the battery.

Works great to keep power wire away from moving parts and neatly tucked away

I am very happy with the quality of the products and the service! Most of all I want to compliment you on the instructional videos included in your websit. They are simple to follow, informative and answered several questions I had about the products and the installation. I will definitely be back when needed and highly recommend!!

All items in the order for trailer wiring components were exactly what I ordered and all items were delivered promptly. Good communication from Etrailer with reasonable prices, and FREE SHIPPING!! Nice.

Needed 1/2 " loom clip for wiring harness, once I got the right size it worked great.

I bought these 1/4" to hold wire in place down each side of the trailer. I like the padded surface that will not chafe the wires. It helped make my installation neater and more solid.

Yep, it’s a clamp

The staff at had my order filled and at my doorstep in 3 days. Amazing service and one stop shopping for high quality parts. I added them to my favorites list.

It is a wonderful product and hopefully it will prevent my ground wire from breaking at the connector.

Good Product. I am a guy that likes a challenge although this wasen't much of one.. easy instructions, straight forward application and tools this was a fun project. my best advice would be if you're putting together a project of sorts make sure you speak to a rep before you order, that way all the parts you order work well together..

Ordered a pile of stuff to do a complete trailer rewire.... all was perfect!! I'll be back for my next project!

The wire clamp was very good and clamping the wire, but did not come with a self-drilling metal screw as expected, so it took me longer to find a screw than it did to fasten the wire.

Nice, solid clamps that provide good wire protection.

Quality clamp makes for clean installat ion

Works as described...1 year in use and still holding strong

Still holding strong

  • Clips and Clamps to Attach Wires and Wiring Harnesses to the Bottom of a Trailer Frame
There are many ways you can secure wires to a trailer. I would not recommend the use of tape as it will wear out quickly when exposed to the elements. Soldering is also not recommended because it is a more permanent method and you may need to change wires or move them in the future the hot solder would also melt the coating on the wiring, causing a short. If you can find some large enough, wire ties could be a simple solution. We have several clamps and clips that could work for this application....

The height of the Wire Frame Clip, item # 464600, is 1-1/2 inches, width is 1/2 inch, width for wire capacity is 3/8 inch and the frame depth is 5/16 of an inch. Constructed of spring steel and has a black enamel finish. Metal Looms are also available and we have the 1/2 inch, item # A0500, and the 1/4 inch, item # A0250, which are installed usually with self tapping screws.

  • Routing and Protecting Trailer Brake Magnet Wires when Adding Electric Brakes to a Trailer
There are many things to consider when adding electric drum brakes to a trailer. I have included a link to our FAQ article that covers everything you will need. As far as routing the wires, first, you can attach the ground wires for the magnets nearby to the frame leaving enough slack for the travel of the suspension. For the power wire you would come off the magnet and run the wire to the front of the trailer along the frame. You can use a combination of wire loom # 7509 and loom clamps,...

We don't have a video for this harness but I have included a link to our help article with tips on routing the power wire. You also might be able to use frame clips such as the 10-pack # CE16867A or a series of loom clamps such as # A0250.

  • How To Secure Trailer Wiring When Inside Of Frame Is Not An Option
You could use pvc pipe and secure it to the frame of the trailer, but that is way overkill and way more work then you need to do to protect the wires. I would just get some wire loom the correct size for however many wires you have to run, and some claps to secure that to the frame. Since most trailers only have 2-3 wires going all the way to the back you should be fine with 1/4" wire loom # 7509, and securing it to the frame with clamps # A0250, and self-tapping screws # FA1131822.

I spoke with a co-worker who has used clip # 027-005-00 and he recommends attaching it to metal no thicker than 1/4 inch but that it might work with 3/8 inch thick metal. A better option would be # 464600 since it is a little larger and meant for this application more than the other clip. Another option is to use a loom clamp such as # A0250. I have included a link to a video review featuring this clamp for you.

In short; they're not secured to the trailer frame. Presumably you would strategically place the loom clamps near those fittings you mentioned from kit # HBA16-252-82 to limit any movement of those fittings.
