Question:

Hi I have a triple axle gooseneck trailer it has brakes on each wheel end unit I want to rewiring the whole trailer because all the wiring is gone what do I need to make the breaks work thanks

Since you mentioned that you want to rewire the whole trailer we will start off with a 7-way connector. For this you can use part # H20046 which will give you 8 ft of wire to start with.

I then recommend using a junction box like part # 38656. This will mount to your trailer frame and you will use the posts inside the box to attach the wiring. This will make the rewiring process as easy and clean as possible.

Next you will need to figure up how much wiring you will need. In this case you will need to do a bit of measuring. Our wire is sold by the foot so you can order as much or a little as you need. 10 Gauge Wire, # 10-1-1, can be used for your brakes and ground, and 16 Gauge, # 16-1-1, for your lights.

Using ring terminals, # 44-5310A for the 10 gauge wire and # DW05702-1 for the 16 gauge, connect wires from 7-way connector to the new wires in the junction box and finish running your wires. Typical wiring for this connector is going to be white for ground, red for left turn and brake, brown for right turn and brake, green for tail lights, blue for brake power, black for 12 volt hot lead, and yellow for auxiliary. I have attached a wiring diagram which should be helpful.

To keep all of the wiring secure on the trailer I also recommend using the loom clamps, part # A0250.
