Question:
I have a small utility trailer 5foot x 8 and I need to rewire the connector. I would also like to add running and backup lights. Should l just add a 7 blade round connector lead to a junction box on the trailer beam. That would allow for additional wiring for the running and backup lights, correct? I would also like to upgrade all of the lights to LEDs. Suggestions for wiring, junction and LEDs?

I think adding a 7-Way and a junction box and not to mention LED lights are great ideas! If you are going to replace all of those items, you may as well go the all out and replace all of the trailer wiring as well.
Starting with a trailer side 7-Way connector you can use # H20042 which is 3 feet long. It doesn't have to be long though because it is going to the junction box. Speaking of junction boxes you can use # 38656. I have included a picture showing how it can be wired up and a video showing installation to the right.
For the rest of the wiring you can use # DW04914-1 which is sold by the foot. So if you needed 20 feet you would enter 20 into the quantity box. And for ring terminals you can use # 44-5310A. You also might be interested in wire frame clip # 464600 or loom clamp # A0250 to support the new wiring.
For LED lights it is going to depend on what style you need, how to mount them, and so on. So what I did was link all of the LED lights we carry to the right. That way you can browse through them and if you have any questions you know where to find us.
