For weather protection, seal the flange with butyl tape and a non-sag sealant, or add a thin weather strip if needed.
Measure your existing cutout to confirm fit. There's not a guide to tell fitment for specific RVs, so match your cutout hole to the listed cutout size. Check flange size and rear clearance for the lock body before you drill. If your opening is different, look for a hatch with matching cutout dimensions.
Some do not include weather stripping, relying on metal against metal. If you expect harsher weather, add a thin weather strip around the edges. Installers often use butyl tape under the flange and a non-sag sealant for a waterproof seal; some added insulation to prevent leaks during rain. Verify what sealing hardware is included.
Expect either a key lock or a thumb lock you rotate without a key. Key codes can be standard, but you can't pick a specific code. Some found stock locks flimsy or held by a clip; upgrading to a more secure lock or one matching other doors can help. Check rear clearance since some lock cylinders protrude inside.
Metal doors can feel sturdier than plastic and handle fuel or access use well. Some doors were noted as thinner or a bit flimsy, so match material to how you'll use it, like frequent cord pass-throughs. If finish matters, chrome and white options exist. Make sure the door closes cleanly; adjust the latch if it doesn't seat nicely.
