Question:

Hey yall. I need to replace my old dometic rooftop ac unit. Model 59516.331. Do you have any recommendations? I have upgraded the thermostat already and am looking for something that wont put a dent in the finances as $ is pretty tight with the way of the world right now. Thank you in advance.

Hi Collin, welcome back! The most economical replacement is going to be from Advent Air. You will need a complete system since everything moved to R32 refrigerant.

If your upgraded thermostat is R32 compatible, or a smart thermostat that got a software update, you can potentially carry it over. Otherwise, you're going to be using the thermostat designed for the system since R32 electronics communicate differently.

You can choose from the following based on capacity and color:

-Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 13,500 Btu - White - R32 # ADV87QR

-Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 13,500 Btu - Black - R32 # ADV59QR

-Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 15,500 Btu - White - R32 # ADV99QR

-Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 15,500 Btu - Black - R32 # ADV69QR

What kind of trailer do you have?

Hey Robin, Thank you for the guidance. I have a 2004 Thir Mirage. The ac system went out. I updated the motor and thermostat but still was unable to get it to blow out any air. It turns on, but thats it. My thermostat model is dometic 50-142802-d. I dont think that it's compatible. My heater also stopped working as well. The last time it went out I replaced the sail switch and got it running again. It seems like everything is breaking down at the same time... any suggestions?

@CollinB sorry to hear that, seems like that's always how it goes. It's a 2004 so you're really reaching that point where some of those appliances are at the end of their life. Who makes your furnace? If they're still around, I would reach out to them for troubleshooting and see if they can help get it running again. If you need a replacement, you could use the Fogatti Quiet LP Gas RV Furnace # FG45FR (black) or # FG65FR (white).

@RobinH Thank you for the response. I'll keep that in mind. What is it that I'm seeing on the ac units that the optional heat? How does that work if I wanted to use electricity over the propane?

@Collin there is a heat strip you can add # ADV34QR. This doesn't replace a furnace, just knocks the chill out of the air.
