Options For Reducing Sag When Towing A Trailer With A 2021 Honda Pilot

Updated 04/26/2026 | Published 04/20/2026

Question:

What products do you recommend to help with rear sag while towing a trailer? I have a 2021 Honda Pilot EX-L. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Steve!

There are two options that will help the sag you are getting in your 2021 Honda Pilot when you are towing. The first is the Coil SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs for Coil Spring Suspension # CSS-1125F. We have these listed as being for the front of your Pilot, but I did confirm with SuperSprings and they will also fit the rear coils. These do a decent job, but it's not my preferred way to go. At least not with just these.

What I recommend in cases like this is a weight distribution system. You will need to make sure your hitch is rated for use with one (if you have an OEM hitch, you are good to go), but they do a very good job if you can use it. I will need to know the loaded weight of your trailer to find one that will work for you, but they basically help lift the rear of the vehicle up and really help with the sag you are getting. Plus they help with sway control if you are getting any of that as well. A weight distribution system and the SumoSprings will definitely get rid of the sag.

On that note, what kind of trailer are you towing?

The Sump Springs worked great when my Jeep Renegade was loaded down with camping gear. It jept the car from hitting hard over unexpected bumps or speed bumps. They were unnoticeable when the car was driven empty except for some squeaking noise on long suspension articulation. Overall i was happy that i got them. I didn’t want to get new springs because of the expense and stiffer ride when unloaded.
