Is There a Custom Harness For The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 That Will Plug In To The 2026 Ram 1500

Question:

I am in the process of buying a 2026 Ram 1500 Bighorn that does not have the factory trailer brake controller and I already own a Tekonsha Prodigy P3. Which adapter harness do I need to connect the Prodigy P3 to the trailer brake connector at the driver kick panel on this vehicle?

Hey, James!

We do carry a Tekonsha harness that will work for you. Harness part 3024-P will fit your new 2026 Ram 1500 truck. We are in the midst of updating fitments for the 2026 year so our site may not show it has a fit but I've made sure that it will fit.

Also, congrats on the new truck! Hope the process is smooth and you get to drive your new set of wheels off the lot soon.

Hi the Tekonsha P2 controller and Harness is easy to install on my Ram. Etrailer had all the parts needed. Works vary well for my car tarailer.

Thank you Gwendolyn. I happened to already have the 3024-P harness from the Durango I used the Prodigy P3 on previously. I removed the lower driver kick panel, plugged it in, and all is good! Now I just need to decide the best place to mount it (probably on the right side of the bolster panel under the column where my knee won't hit it).

@JamesM Knee space does seem to be shrinking over time in trucks. But, I'm glad that you didn't have to get a new harness and your old one from your Durango was the same one!

@JamesM I had a 3024-P I’ve used since 2019. Just got into a 2026 Big Horn and the connecter in the footwell is the same connector that is on the end of my 3024-P, so that raises a issue for me because you can’t fit the same size and style connector together. Has anyone found a workaround or a plug modification to essentially work around the fact they switched up the connector that was never an issue, but is now?!?
