Is The Redarc RED87CR Plug And Play For 2026 Ram 1500?

Question:

I have a 2026 Ram 1500 and was wondering if this is truly plug n play. I know with the OEM brake controller there is dealer programming necessary, and I’m wondering if it’s the same for this REDARC controller.

Hi there Chris, great question. Yes the Redarc # RED87CR is truly a plug and play brake controller for your 2026 Ram 1500. It connects directly to the factory tow controller connector under the dash, so there’s no dealer programming required like you have with the OEM integrated controller. Once plugged in and configured for your trailer type, it will work immediately with your truck’s wiring and braking system.

Hi Chris, I've installed the Redarc in 2 vehicles, a 2024 Ford Explorer and a 2023 RAM 1500. I recommend it and liked it better than the factory controller that I have in my current 2024 RAM. Both installs were "plug and play" on the wiring, and I was very happy with the performance and the look on the dash once completed. I'm not a mechanic, so for me the biggest challenge was overcoming fear of damaging the dash while opening up for the install process, and when drilling holes for the button. I found good videos online and just took it step-by-step. Very happy with the results. SK
