Towing Set Up for 2014 Chrysler Town and Country

I have a 2003 Jayco qwest pop up that I would like to pull with my 2014 Chrysler Town and Country minivan. The van is not equipped with a towing package, and I keep researching and finding out that most sites recommend a transmission cooler and some type of rear suspension upgrade. The van manual suggests the towing capacity is 3600 lbs. Pop up dry weight is less than 2,000 lbs. What recommendations would you have for the hitch, do I need modifications, and do I need a weight distribution system? Thanks for your help.

For your 2014 Chrysler Town and Country, the first thing you are going to need is a trailer hitch and I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch # e98854.
For wiring which will give you a 4-way connector and allow you to power your trailer's lights you need Wiring Harness # C566331.
I also recommend checking out etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit # EBMK4EL which has a long ball mount because the trailer hitches on your van are fairly recessed under the bumper. This kit has a ball mount with a 2-3/4" rise or 4" drop, an interchangeable 1-7/8" or 2" hitch ball along with a pin and clip.
I highly recommend adding a transmission cooler because your minivan is not truly intended as a towing vehicle and even though it can handle a small pop-up, adding a cooler is one of the best things you can do for your minivan because towing is a stressor and additional cooling will help prolong the lifespan of your transmission. For your 2014 Town and Country I recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13502 because it will give you a very efficient cooling system.
