Easy replacement for the original winch, even though this one is much larger. Bolt holes lined up with the original and went right on. This is very smooth, with easy changes between the 2 speeds. Great to not have to move the handle to a different shaft to change speeds. Only negative was that it came with absolutely no instructions (not that installation was tough, but still) or mounting bolts. Would have preferred a 32’ strap since it went on a 30’ trailer, but hopefully this will work well.

The winch is dragging a 7000 pound boat up the trailer, I power load it on but it always needs to be cranked up further and it gets it done.

Very powerful winch that works great! How's my 24 ft 6500 lb boat up on a roller trailer with ease. Seems like we'll hold up well. I've used it twice and see no problems with it in the future.

When I installed the winch I did have to drill new holes, but that was no problem. There was a problem with the winch. The pinion gear that drives the large gear on the real did not line up properly. It worked fine, but I was afraid over time winching my Four Winns 225 Sundowner boat it might wear the gear prematurely. I contacted etrailer.com and sent some pictures. They had a new winch in the mail the same day, and sent me a shipping label to send the old winch back. The people at etrailer.com are great. And the new winch is great. The neutral position allows the strap to be pulled out easily. It is easy to shift between high and low gear for fast and easy cranking my 5,000 lb. boat onto the trailer.

I ordered this two speed Fulton winch because I keep my 18' center console on a trailer and launch and recover it about 60 to 70 times each fishing season and I have a bad shoulder and was tired of fighting the one speed direct drive winch to get the boat up the last couple of feet. This two speed winch makes everything much easier--cranking in the last two feet is very easy now, and the feature that allows you to free spool the strap out without the handle spinning around is awesome. I wish I had bought this winch two years ago, when I bought the boat.

Comments
One year later and the winch is working very well. I have used it hauling out about 70 times now and the two-speed feature makes things easy. Im glad I bought it and recommend it.

The Fulton,F142424, is a tremendous asset for a boat trailer. It’s almost effortless winching my boat back on the trailer now with the two speed winch option. Wish I had bought this winch years ago. I launch and recover my boat on some pretty shallow public ramps sometimes and you have too winch the boat on rather than drive it on. This winch makes that process a whole lot easier.

- F142424
by:

This replaced an older version of the same model that was missing a handle and strap. Rather than purchase a replacement handle and strap I just bought a whole new winch. Build quality is identical to my 20 plus year old winch so I'm sure it will last al long. Two of the smaller gears are made of multiple thin plates sandwiched together...I would prefer solid cast gears all around but this setup seems to work fine. Overall very solid build quality.

This was an exact fit replacement for my boat trailer. I do not have a place to dock my boat so this new winch got a lot of use last summer. Definitely happy with this purchase!

Thank you for your review! While this item is made in China, there are many high rated reviews on this product, so it seems as though you still made a great choice!

After a year of use the winch is holding up well, stronger than the original one on the boat trailer, it's been a great upgrade for retrieving the boat at low tides.....using for a 21 ft Outrage.....strictly saltwater use...so far no signs of corrosion but I rinse it well at days end....

Replacing a smaller 900# Winch on my Macgregor 26s trailer. While I've not had the pleasure of using it on launch or retrieval yet, it certainly looks to be up to the job. I purchased from Etrailer because the information listed on other sites was incorrect. Etrailer, spelled everything out for me and gave me the confidence that I was getting what I was expecting. Have recommended this site to my friends.

  • Picking Out Hand Winch for Trailer with 19 Foot Larson Boat
I believe your boat is around 3,000 lbs from what I was able to find on it but I'd recommend confirming that if you aren't sure. So to pick out a winch you'd just need to go with one that has at least a 1,500 lb capacity since the ratio for picking out a winch based on a boat weight is 2 to 1. The Fulton you mentioned part # F142424 would be overkill as it has a 3,200 lb capacity but it would work really well and be easy to use. For a lighter duty winch that would still work great but...

  • Determining If Fulton 2-Speed Winch F142424 Is A Direct Replacement For Older Shelby 5476
It is possible that the Fulton 2-Speed Trailer Winch - 10" Long Handle - 20' Strap - Zinc - 3,200 lbs # F142424 you were looking at will be a direct replacement for your Shelby 5476 2800lb hand winch, but you will need to do a little comparing to the mount plate. I included a picture of the bottom of the # F142424 showing the mounting holes, and a few dimensions. If this matches your current Shelby winch this would be a great replacement option that has an extra 400lb weight capacity. If...

  • Mounting Hardware for Fulton F142424 Trailer Winch
The Fulton # F142424 3.2K Capacity Trailer Winch doesn't include mounting hardware. Fulton recommends using (3) 3/8 inch grade 5 bolts/nuts, the length of the hardware will depend on the thickness of the winch stand/mounting plate the winch is being attached to. The hardware should be torqued to 28-30 foot/lbs. I've linked to a product description video that you might find helpful.

I've attached a picture for reference to show some of the measurements-but this is a fairly universally mounted winch. • Recommended Two Speed Trailer Winch For 6500lb Boat.
For your 6500lb boat I highly recommend the Fulton 2-Speed Trailer Winch # F142424 which has 2 speeds like you were looking for, and the 3200lb capacity will be plenty to pull your boat onto the trailer. In addition the polyester strap will hold up better than a cable for a marine application, not to mention the additional safety that should the strap snap, it would not be nearly as dangerous as a cable flying around. • Recommended Replacement Hand Winch for a Boat Trailer with a 6,500 Lb Boat
It is always a good idea to use a winch that is overrated for the purpose you will be using it for. A winch that is used near the bottom end of its capacity will last much longer then a winch used at the top end of its capacity. We do have wire rope options for a hand winch on your boat trailer but I recommend using a winch with a synthetic strap as this will last longer for marine applications in addition to causing less damage if the strap were to break. • Recommended Hand Winch for 4,600 Lb Boat Trailer
