Taskmaster Radials

Taskmaster radials have double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Taskmaster radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

The standard tread on this tire has solid, continuous ribs, and there are very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. This tire is designed for use on trailers, so it doesn't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

No issues yet. Used in lightweight trailer usually pulled behind a motorcycle. Nice to find heavy trailer tires rated for 81mph.

Received the tires I ordered in a matter of days. Well packaged in a sturdy box. Couldn’t be more pleased with the help from the techs at etrailer and the ease of the purchasing and delivery. Easier than driving all over town looking for the right tire and purchasing locally.

I’ve put over 6,000 miles on the trailer tires I mounted on my Escapade motorcycle trailer in the past year. Couldn’t be more pleased with the tires, even wear across the tires, maintains pressure. I pull the trailer at highway speeds, often at 75 to 80 mph.

Purchased the Taskmaster radial to replace the four year old Carlisle bias ply. One of the old tires had a bulge. It seems they were rated to 60 MPH. In fairness I was pulling my boat above 70 most of the time. The Taskmaster is rated to 75 MPH. They are not quite as wide but I ordered the identical size as the old tires. It should be noted the service was amazing. I ordered on a Sunday night and they arrived on Wednesday. Free shipping in deluxe cardboard boxes. If the tire are as good as the service I'll be in great shape.

Comments
The tires are excellent. Very smooth compared to the factory installed tires. Most of the time you cannot detect a boat trailer behind the vehicle. Would buy only radials going forward.

I replaced my standard boat trailer bias tires after driving from Ontario to Florida with these radial steel belted beauties. They have a highway rating of 81 MPH which blow the bias tires out of the water. I don't have a low speed bounce anymore and less damage to the interior storage areas of the boat. Great change.

Ask the Experts about this Taskmaster Trailer Tires and Wheels

  • What PSI Should My Trailer Tires Be Filled To When Towing?
Unless otherwise noted from the tire manufacturer, you should run your tires at the full psi they are rated to. As an example, the Taskmaster 5.30R12 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range C # TT53012C is rated to 1,050 pounds at 80 psi and should therein be filled to 80 psi. This will keep the wear even and will extend the life of the tire. Under filling them will definitely cause them to run hotter and wear quicker or unevenly, which will reduce the life of the tire. This will also mean you...

  • Replacement Trailer Tire in Size 5.30-12 Recommendation
Is it possible the tire size on your trailer is actually 5.30-12 and not 5.80-12? As the 5.30-12 size is a very common trailer tire size and 5.80 is not. In the 5.30-12 size the best option is the radial Taskmaster part # TT53012C as it will track the best compared to the bias ply options, has a higher speed rating, and has a weight capacity of 1,050 lbs at 80 psi. I attached a review video for this for you to check out as well. To pick out bearings for a trailer hub you will need to...

  • Recommended 5.30R12 Trailer Tire for Highway Use
That's a good question, and the answer is that your current 5.30-12 tires are not safe for traveling at highway speeds. What you likely have on your trailer now is a bias ply tire, which is not good for highway use because they are stiffer and tend to heat up quickly. So if you keep your current tires and even if you stay within 55 mph, on that long of a trip you will likely get blowouts. The best option, by far, is to get radial tires which are rated for use at highway speeds (radial tires...

  • Can 4.80-12 Tires Be Replaced with 5.30-12 Tires on Trailer
As long as you have the wheel well and trailer frame clearance available for a slightly larger tire you can certainly swap out 4.80-12 units for a 5.30-12 such as the excellent Taskmaster # TT53012C. This will fit perfectly on your existing wheel. The 5.30-12 size tire will be about 1.4 inches larger in height/diameter and only about a 1/2 inch wider. We just recommend having at least 3 to 4 inches of space between the fender and tire and at least 1 to 2 inches between the tire's sidewall...
