Taskmaster Radials

Taskmaster radials have double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Taskmaster radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

The standard tread on this tire has solid, continuous ribs, and there are very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. This tire is designed for use on trailers, so it doesn't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Thanks for the nice message! Have not had the trailer out much since the new tires, but I felt like there was a smoother ride and less jumping from the trailer with them on. I'll try to send an update from my next adventure!

by:

No issues yet. Used in lightweight trailer usually pulled behind a motorcycle. Nice to find heavy trailer tires rated for 81mph.

Still working great, no issues.

Had one last only 300 miles. Went through taskmaster warranty and did not get the same tire replacement. Did not have same tire.

These tires and wheels made a huge difference in the trailer tracking. Rather than a constant vibration from the older bias ply tires that I couldn’t get balanced properly, I mounted your set and almost forgot I was pulling it. Very smooth and sporty looking. Highly recommend this setup.

GREAT UPGRADE FROM WHAT CAME WITH THE TRAILER,THESE ARE HIGHWAY RATED UNLIKE
WHAT CAME WITH THE DK2 TRAILER AND BLEW OUT..OVERALL GREAT TIRE

by:

E-trailer is the best for selection and quality. I needed new tires for my utility trailer, and they had the best selection and prices, plus their description aids in determining what is best for your use.

After a year, I couldnt be happier. Great price and great product.

Purchased the Taskmaster radial to replace the four year old Carlisle bias ply. One of the old tires had a bulge. It seems they were rated to 60 MPH. In fairness I was pulling my boat above 70 most of the time. The Taskmaster is rated to 75 MPH. They are not quite as wide but I ordered the identical size as the old tires. It should be noted the service was amazing. I ordered on a Sunday night and they arrived on Wednesday. Free shipping in deluxe cardboard boxes. If the tire are as good as the service I'll be in great shape.

The tires are excellent. Very smooth compared to the factory installed tires. Most of the time you cannot detect a boat trailer behind the vehicle. Would buy only radials going forward.

by:

I put 2600 miles at 70+ mph with no issues. Performing as advertised.

The tires are holding up well. No issues. Over 8000 miles on the interstate.

I bought the highest cost highest speed rated tires for my light 4x8 utility trailer. Folks drive fast in Michigan, our 4 seasons are short, so we need to move quickly. These tires have had the grip I needed and I would buy them again.

by:

Received the tires I ordered in a matter of days. Well packaged in a sturdy box. Couldn’t be more pleased with the help from the techs at etrailer and the ease of the purchasing and delivery. Easier than driving all over town looking for the right tire and purchasing locally.

I’ve put over 6,000 miles on the trailer tires I mounted on my Escapade motorcycle trailer in the past year. Couldn’t be more pleased with the tires, even wear across the tires, maintains pressure. I pull the trailer at highway speeds, often at 75 to 80 mph.

by:

If you drive on the interstate you need these.

by:

These have been the best tires I have purchased for my small light weight pop up camper. Tire Discounters sold me pair before these that were not radial that blew in their only second year use. I haven’t had an issue and see little wear.

by:

I replaced my standard boat trailer bias tires after driving from Ontario to Florida with these radial steel belted beauties. They have a highway rating of 81 MPH which blow the bias tires out of the water. I don't have a low speed bounce anymore and less damage to the interior storage areas of the boat. Great change.

by:

A friend turned me onto etrailer and have used them ever since. Great products and great service including fast shipping with tracking number, what more could you ask for !

by:

I ordered the tires to upgrade my utility trailer to be able to haul my harley Ultra classic (900 pounds) at hwy speeds if I ever have to. The order was delivered a day before it was supposed to be and it was in a very well protected shipping box. The service was outstanding.

by:

1,000+ miles, including long stints at 70 mph, with no issues. Would purchase again.

For our site if is part is made in the US, we have made in USA on the product page. I will have our customer service team reach out to you.

by:

There are so many cheap, imported tires. I was looking for something sturdy, radial, and USA made. Worth the extra money.
Also, I was expecting to see these arrive simply strapped together, but they were carefully placed in a box. Nice detail, thank you.

by:

This was the only retailer that sold radial tires in the size for my boat trailer. I'm hoping they perform as advertised.

by:

Great product and exceptional service to go along with the purchase! I purchased this tire because it was a radial and it has the extended speed rating. No problems at all pulling my pop up camper at 70+MPH.

The purchase and customer support and communication with this sale was five-star!!

by:

Great tyres !
My trailer rolls easier
on radials. With basic tyre tools, They are easy to DIY install.

by:

Tires appear in good condition but haven’t had opportunity to install them yet due to problems with grease seal used in hub assembly kits that were purchased from etrailer

by:

Got the tires mounted, put them on my vintage 1992 coleman camper. These tires are worth the money.

by:

These are exactly what I needed! Gwen have info that helped me make the right choice! And I’ve ordered ceiling lights for my popup before from etrailer.com and am very happy with their product and customer service.

by:

Haven't had much chance to use yet, but I like the thought of travelling on radials vs. bias ply tires...especially in these smaller diameters.

  • Recommended 5.30R12 Trailer Tire for Highway Use
That's a good question, and the answer is that your current 5.30-12 tires are not safe for traveling at highway speeds. What you likely have on your trailer now is a bias ply tire, which is not good for highway use because they are stiffer and tend to heat up quickly. So if you keep your current tires and even if you stay within 55 mph, on that long of a trip you will likely get blowouts. The best option, by far, is to get radial tires which are rated for use at highway speeds (radial tires...

  • High Speed Rating Trailer Tire Recommendation to Fit 12 inch Wheel
Lighter capacity trailer hubs won't have big enough wheel mounting flanges to allow a wheel with a larger diameter to fit. Your best option is to stick with the size you have and go with a tire that has a higher speed rating like the part # TT53012C that you referenced. A larger wheel and tire won't benefit you too much. It most likely would require you to go with new fenders and would raise the trailer up higher which would require a taller ball mount as well.

The best tire option we have for the size 5.30-12 is the Taskmaster 5.30R12 Radial Trailer Tire # TT53012C as it's a radial tire with a weight capacity of 1,050 lbs at 80 psi and is only option with a speed rating over 65 mph. • Can You Put a 12" Radial Car Tire on a Boat Trailer
I do have an option for you but you can't use passenger tires (P) on a trailer because they don't have the sidewall capacity needed for this which would lead to frequent blowouts. Instead, I recommend the Taskmaster 5.30R12 Radial Trailer Tire part # TT53012C which is a radial trailer tire rated for speeds up to 81 mph. It also has a 1,050 lb per tire weight capacity. It will work great on a boat trailer.

For your Jayco Pop-Up Camper I recommend replacing your existing tires with the Taskmaster 5.30R12 Radial Trailer Tire # TT53012C, which will provide improvements in a number of areas over your current set. Based on the issues you described you are most likely using bias ply tires that have a speed rating of 65 mph, which is the standard on most trailer tires. Based on my research the 5x8 mesh floor trailers from Lowes come equipped with 4.80-12 size tires, which you can verify by checking the sidewall on the tire itself. For the next size up that will provide a larger profile and a higher weight capacity, you can use a 5.30-12 tire (which will fit onto your existing wheels). • Can 4.80 x 12 Tires On Boat Trailer Be Replaced With 5.30 x 12 Tires
As long as you have enough clearance you can change your 4.80 x 12 to 5.30 x 12 tires. Going to a 5.30 tire will increase the diameter of the tire by about 1-1/4 inches compared to the 4.80 tire, so that means it will be about 3/4 of an inch closer to the fenders if you have them. You will want at least 3 inches of clearance between the tire and the fender. The Taskmaster Bias Trailer Tire # TT53012C is a 6-ply Load Range C tire with a maximum load capacity of 1,045 lbs at 80 psi.

The two tire sizes you referenced, 4.80-12 and 5.30-12, both fit 4-inch wide rims, but they differ in their overall diameter. A 4.80-12 tire/wheel when fully inflated will have a diameter of 20-1/2-inches while the 5.30-12 size will be just under 22-inches in overall diameter. As long as the additional height is not a problem it would be a great choice if you wanted to swap to the bigger size. The part # TT53012C would then be a great choice as a replacement. • Can 4.80x12 Trailer Tires Be Swapped Out for 5.30x12 Trailer Tires
A 4.80x12 trailer tire measures 20.6" diameter x 4.8" wide and a 5.30x12 trailer tire measures 21.5" diameter x 5.3" wide. Therefore, you need to account for an extra 1" of diameter and .5" of width. We recommend having at least 3" of tire to fender and 1" of tire to frame clearance. If you do have the space then I recommend the Taskmaster 5.30R12 Radial Trailer Tire part # TT53012C which has radial ply's, a load range c rating (1,050 lbs), and a speed rating m (81 mph).

  • What is Best Trailer Tire in Size 5.30-12
Hey Lee, so in general the radial tire construction is preferred over the bias ply. You'll get a more stable ride and generally a little less heat build up. If you will be under the weight and speed capacity of your current tires I think you'll be just fine though. The absolute best option though would be a radial in your size of 5.30-12 that has a higher speed rating like the Taskmaster part # TT53012C but I do believe you're in a decent spot currently with what you have now.

Best option might be stick with what you have now and just make sure it's properly inflated. Otherwise since it looks like you have a 4.80-12 size to go with the next slightly larger size of 5.30-12 like part # TT53012C which would be slightly larger in width, diameter, and has an 81 mph speed rating.
