Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Have used the rims about 1 year and am pleased with the performance. Look good and have had no issues. I bought these steel rims to replace aluminum rims that eventually bent a little after a few years of use.

I use them on trailer for 14' boat and fish frequently.

by:

showing rust already.. salt exposure minimal ... less than 20 total days and always washed carefully after each use ... trailer stored in garage between uses

by:

GREAT UPGRADE FROM WHAT CAME WITH THE TRAILER,THESE ARE HIGHWAY RATED UNLIKE
WHAT CAME WITH THE DK2 TRAILER AND BLEW OUT..OVERALL GREAT TIRE

by:

These are a great product. The quality of the galvanization is better than I expected. These will work well for my application.

by:

Very happy with all my purchases from t railer

by:

These were an excellent, inexpensive and no-maintenance replacement for the standard white painted wheels on my aluminum utility trailer. Like all such wheels, mine started to rust after a year or so and I just put up with them for at least five years. Who has time to refinish and paint utility trailer wheels? I did not want the extra cost or look of aluminum wheels on a basic, well-used trailer. These galvanized wheels, along with the E-rated tires and stainless wheel nuts I bought with them, were the perfect solution for my application.

As usual, etailer had the right products at a good price, and with timely delivery. (My only suggestion to etrailer was to offer these wheels and E-rated tires as a package with the tire already mounted, as I believe it is a logical offering for folks with utility trailers.)

A year later the wheels, tires and whee4l nuts still look new. Every time I see them Im glad I spent the small extra amount they cost compared to the basic painted wheels. I feel the same way about the e-rated tires. After 7000 plus miles, they look like new and I know that they can handle the maximum load rating of the axle. I would also note that I had the wheels and tires balanced, which is add that having the wheels and tires balanced is key to their long-term performance.

by:

Nice wheel. Two things from being 5 star. One, it would be good if they buffed it out after the zinc platting (galvanizing process). There are a few rough spots where the tire needs to seal. Second, the add indicates that there is a valve stem included with the wheel. I wasn't. As a suggestion, it would be good to make it easier to find the weight capacity and match it to the tire capacity. For example, If this wheel is only rated for up to a load range D tire, then say so in the specs. Not a big issue but this would make it easier to match wheels and tires. I was using this with load range E tires I already had, but the wheel, based on the weight numbers is really only a D.

Excellent product

by:

Each of the three 12×4 galvanized wheels that I ordered and received was in deplorable condition. The galvanized process left a mess of excess material on the wheel. Each wheel appeared as if it had melted in the same spot. Very disappointed in the lack of workmanship and quality control.

I will have our customer service team reach out to you. The manufacturer dips the wheels in a galvanizing solution and allows the wheels to drip dry. The finish of the wheels will be a rough finish versus a smooth one.

by:

I recieved a four lug wheel instead of the 5 on 4.5 lug wheel that I ordered. I now have a wheel that is useless to me and not to mention the lost time that this has caused. I am very disappointed. Please rectify this issue immediately.

I apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused you. I see that our customer service department has sent you the correct wheels. We would appreciate updated information on the wheels after you receive it.

Be careful ordering tires and rims from this company, I received my order as three separate pieces, the tire was not mounted to the rim. If there was a place to specify that I wanted them pre-mounted it was not easy to find on their website. Next time I am going to my local [farm store].

Excellent

by:

I purchased 2 galvanized wheels and 2 galvanized hubs. The box they shipped the items in was sealed well with staples and was robust, but the items weren't separate well at all. Whomever packaged the order placed a few pieces of packing paper inside. All the items were tossed around and dinged up. The threaded wheel lugs on the hub were dented and needed to be filed and thread chased. Other than that, the products seem nice, but time will tell.

by:

I did get the wheel balanced when I had the tire mounted (which is an extra expense). But I drove 5,000 miles mostly over 70 mph and they were great.

by:

Received rim in 2 days. Great price and well packaged. Quality of rim looks great! I also bought the high pressure valve stems since the rim comes without stems. Would recommend to a friend and would purchase again if needed.

by:

Galvanized rim for trailer spare. We live near salt water, and I only buy galvanized rims. Had to buy the tire, valve stem, and rim separately as this size radial tire is not sold as a combo-package, only sell bias ply tires on painted rims as combo package. If there was an option to have etrailer mount the tire, I didn’t see it. Fortunately, some of us old guys still know how to put a tire on a rim. The tire, rim & high pressure valve stem are all excellent quality (you always have to smooth the galvanized “barnacles” on a new rim in the seal area). Shipping & delivery was fast, and the tire mounted and inflated easily.

by:

Better than the stock wheel! Perfectly balanced. Great price.

by:

I ordered this wheel to use on a utility trailer. It looks great and the tire mounted great as well. Pricing was good and delivery was timely and to my front door.

by:

Fantastic customer service products as advertised ship faster than fast thank you so much

by:

Top quality tire rim / part - always pleased with the super customer service I receive from etrailer; Thanks - Josh. etrailer is always my go to store for trailer parts - I don't even need to save it as a web Favorite - it already is!

by:

The wheels arrived and are the brightest galvanized wheels I've seen, better than expected. The ordering and shipping were simple and all arrived a day early. Can't beat that at any price!

by:

Arrived quick and tire mounted fine. Using it for a spare boat trailer tire. Have not had to put it on the trailer yet.

  • Replacement Wheel and Tire For a 1973 Dilly Boat Trailer With 4.80-12 Tires
For a trailer with a 4.80-12 tire size you would need either a 4-Lug # AM20124 or 5-Lug # AM20134 wheel. We do have these with tires already installed as the 4-Lug Package # AM30630 or 5-Lug Package # AM30670 so you can just bolt them on and go.

That said, we do offer both the tires (Taskmaster 4.80R12 Trailer Tire part # TT48012C) and wheels (Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel part # AM20134) so all you would need to do is take them to a local tire shop and have them mounted for a small fee.

The 5 on 4-1/2 is the most common pattern. In order to know for sure what bolt pattern you have, I recommend measuring your wheels to confirm the pattern. The two 10" wheels that we offer with the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern both have a 2.80" diameter pilot hole, and a 3.19" diameter hub bore is not standard with this size wheel.
