1-Year Worry-Free Guarantee

This tire has a 1-year worry-free guarantee. If within the first 12 months the tire is damaged in any way, it will be replaced at no charge.

Karrier S-Trail Radials with Automotive-Grade Tread

Kenda Karrier S-Trail Tread Vs Standard Tread

Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the automotive-grade, computer-generated tread on these Karrier S-Trail radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Karrier S-Trail tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.

Karrier S-Trail radials are constructed with double steel belts and full nylon plies for increased durability and endurance. The premium rubber compound materials of this tire help disperse heat.

Beveled Stud Holes

Beveled Stud Holes Front and Back

The stud holes on this steel wheel are beveled to ensure that the wheel stays tight against your trailer hub. This also eliminates the need to constantly retorque the lug nuts.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

We bought a Popup camper trailer and I have never towed anything before. I had to do an alarming amount of learning about different tires and brands, and let me tell you how hard it is not to find a china bomb on a 12' rim for something your family will be riding in or towing.

My experience with buying from etrailer was superb. I was notified when Items would be in stock. The original tires I had selected were on backorder for 8 months, so these were my second choice. They were supposed to be on back order for a couple weeks, but came in stock and arrived at my house almost a full week before promised.

I have mounted the tires but haven't road tested them yet. I am very excited, to try them out. I had some old LR C tires that were not M rated, I wanted to get a little extra wiggle room on my trailer, but have no plans on pushing the envelope on them. I am already much happier with the footprint of these over the previous trailer tires, and I am very sure they will ride smooth.

Theses were ordered in December of 2021 and the manufacture code was from august of 2021, so they are still fresh from the factory. I included a side by side of my old tire and the new one. I also ordered parts to do an “axle flip” because dexter doesn’t make a kit for the 1 ¾ inch axle. etrailer already had the parts on their FAQ page listed that you could order from them and it was half the price of a dexter kit. I just have to buy a case of Dr. Pepper for my nephew to weld the new spring seat on the axle for me.

Thanks to Conner for his very quick responses to my questions, and his expertise.

Tires have been great. We have done at least a trip a month with out compare. We took it out to Iowa about 3k miles round trip and they have been fine. Our camper is rated for 2200lbs and I don’t think we ever push 1800-1900 so we are well below load rating. I think the “max speed rating” on the camper is 65, I have cruised at 70 and gone a little faster with these tires with no problems. The treads are holding up well. I plan to replace the ones touching the road every 3 years. I don’t believe they will be worn out by then, but that’s a recommendation from my camping group. They have had lots of blowouts and I prefer not to have that experience. If I had it to do over again, I would purchase this tire without hesitation.

I have a pop-up camper that was converted to a utility trailer. The old rims were very rusty and I only found out when I went to install this new Kenda tire/rim combo that the old rims were bent/warped and difficult to remove from center bore. This new Kenda tire and rim combo makes my trailer look so much better! The rubber on these tires is very grippy, which I really like! My old, dry-rotted tires felt like plastic to the touch with no grip whatsoever. I used the etrailer website to learn how to properly measure the spacing between lugs to ensure I buy the right size. Shipping came super quick and all in one box. Tires were filled to the correct psi. I could not have been happier! I've since replaced the sides of the trailer with pressure treated wood, added 2 strips of 2"x 2"x6', 1/4" thick angle iron to the underside of the 2x8x8 plank flooring and used it to haul loam and crushed rock. All went super smooth and feels great to be able to use my utility trailer again!

This tire and Rim is exactly as shown in the catalog photo. The hand cutouts in the box to assist the UPS handlers and driver was a really nice touch. I was very impressed by the E-Trailer tracking provided based on UPS feedback. I am a visual person and enjoyed the graphics showing the mapped delivery in process from E-Trailer to me.

This is my second pair of Kendra Karrier tires for separate trailers. They were replacements for lower range rated tires. One set was with white rims and the other with aluminum alloy rims. Both are 4 bolts rims and they fit perfect. These tires are excellent. They really make the trailers look strong and able to go the distance and speed!

by:

Tires & rims arrived the next day after placing the order the night before. I was actually caught off guard as I did not expect them to arrive till Monday. Installed them on the trailer later that day. No surprises and they fit perfectly. Old tires were cracked and the rims were in bad shape. New wheels look great !! Very pleased.

No issues, tires and rims working out very well

Excellent replacement for 4 lug 12" bias ply tires on small trailers and pop-ups. Two sets for a pop-up and 4x8 over the last couple years. Never going back to bias ply tires.

by:

Great looking tires and wheels, and arrived a day early. Highly recommend this company.

by:

Product arrived as scheduled and was properly inflated. I've taken two trips with this on my pop-up camper, for a total of 200 miles, and they have performed well. I'm glad I purchased this set as a replacement for my old 4-lug wheel/tire combo. I'm very satisfied.

by:

Great product Made in the USA

by:

The tires and wheels arrived ahead of schedule. They fit and worked well over a 6 day, 1200 mile journey. No issues with speed, ran at 80mph for short periods. Checked tire heat at all stops. Ran cool.

Tires are still going strong. I live in Arizona so I use tire covers to keep the sun from damaging them. I clean them and use tire protectant and check the air pressure routinely. I keep the tire pressures at max. The tires look good with no sidewall cracking or excessive tread wear.

Excellent tire and rim combo. Arrived on time. Great service with the Order Department.

After one year and a few trips on the road, Tires and Rims worked out great.

by:

Great rims and tires. The website was easy to use and delivery was great.

by:

Quick and as expected.

by:

They are good. I haven’t tried them yet. Shipping was too fast. Did not arrive when scheduled. Luckily they weren’t stolen off my porch.

by:

I bought these tires as an upgrade and for the peace of mind. My old tires were 530x12 and 10 years old. These tires are better speed rated and have a higher load range. I called and talked to Shawnee E and she answered all my questions. Very happy with my purchase and the Customer Service I received.

by:

Thankful to discover that these are EXACTLY what you advertised them to be. Performance exceeded my expectations.

by:

Looks to be a quality product. Super fast shipping and delivery. Ordered late Wed. afternoon, delivered to upstate NY Fri. afternoon. This is the first time I have purchased anything from etrailer.com but based on my experience with this order, I will not hesitate to order from them again.

Great tire and fast shipment!

Item arrived on time and in very good condition. Liked working with this vendor.

Has worked out really well. Happy I ed and made the change.

by:

I bought these to replace the stock 4.8-12 tires on my 2004 Viking pop up camper. I wanted to go radial and a little larger and these fit the bill perfectly.

by:

New radial tires look great on the trailer. Great price too!

by:

So far so good, modified and raised fenders to allow for larger Diameter. Took a shake down ride for a few miles, all good. I am expecting long tire life and no issues :-).

by:

Well, it simply was the exact size tire and wheel size/bolt pattern I needed and etrailer had it! I have an old boat trailer that I converted to carry a tandem recumbent bicycle Thank you

  • Can Trailer Wheel Pilot Diameter be Larger than Needed and Work
As long as your trailer hub has studs for attaching the trailer wheel and not threaded holes for wheel bolts all you need in regards to wheel pilot diameter is one that is large enough to fit on the hub. So bigger is totally fine. The part # AM35351DX that you referenced has a pilot diameter of 2.84 inches.

  • Are Trailer Wheel/Tire Combos Balanced From Factory
This is a very common question. The manufacturers don't balance the wheels/tires at their facility, and we do not have the equipment here to do so. However, in most cases this isn't necessary to balance them because having perfectly balanced tires on a trailer isn't as important as it is on a passenger vehicle because trailers do not have a steer or drive axle. If you wish to have them balanced locally, you can certainly do so, but it's not an absolute necessity. I've linked to our series...

Replacing trailer tires around 5 years of age is recommended so you are on the right track.

The Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Tire w/ 12" White Spoke Wheel part # AM35351DX will be a great replacement option for the Carlisle Sport 5.30-12 Trailer Tires. The overall diameter is only .2" different so you won't notice any decrease in trailer height, they are simply a bit wider. The 4 on 4 pattern is standard and fits most trailers.

  • Larger Radial Trailer Wheel and Tire with 4 Bolt Pattern than 4.80-8 Size
We do offer wheels and tire that are going to be larger in diameter than the tire size 4.80-8 you have on your trailer but how big you can go will depend on how much clearance you have. Your current size is 16.1 inches tall. To go to a radial tire would require you to go to a 12 inch diameter wheel like the part # AM35351DX which has a diameter of 21.3 inches.

The Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Tire w/ Wheel # AM35351DX referenced in your question will work great as a replacement for the 5.30-12 bias tires on your trailer. As you most likely noticed, we do not currently have the 5.30-12 size available as a radial tire, so the 145/R12 size is going to be the best option to upgrade to a radial. The wheel size will be the same as what you currently have mounted and the overall diameter of the new tire is just going to about 0.6 inches...

  • Benefits Or Consequences Of Installing Larger Tires On 8x4 Utility Trailer
The benefits of installing larger tires are somewhat related to clearance in every way with the exception of the possiblility of additional capacity, having a radial tire option if you increase wheel size, and having broadened options of style. The consequences are possiblilty of adding sway or roll based on slightly higher center of gravity. Every other reason whether positive or negative would deal with clearance. Not only ground clearance, but also frame clearance and fender clearance.
