Bias Tires vs. Radial Tires

Bias vs. radial tire graphic

Bias ply tires are designed for off-road or agricultural applications. They are built with thick, durable nylon cords that are positioned at a 30- to 45-degree angle to the direction of travel. The layers alternate in a crisscross pattern, making the sidewalls stiffer so that the entire tire is able to flex easily. As a result, the tire provides a smooth ride and improved handling when trailering on uneven surfaces.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Great product and $. Above excellent communication on shipment details. Ordered on Sunday PM and arrived on Wed PM. Excellent shipping packaging. • Spare Tire Needed For A 155/80R13 Tire Size
Hey John, It looks like we don't offer that specific tire size so we wouldn't be able to offer you just a spare. If you wanted to switch out your wheels/tires completely and get an extra spare then the closest option with a 4 on 4 wheel bolt pattern would be the 175/80R13 which is 24.02" in diameter and 6.89" wide compared to your current 22.76" diameter and 6.10" width. If you wanted to go this route so that you would need to check your clearance from the wheels horizontally to the...

Currently all the wheel and tire combinations we have with the 5.30-12, and a 4 lug bolt pattern are going to have a 2.84" pilot hole center. This should not be an issue for mounting as these are all lug centric wheels which will center on your hub using tapered Lug Nuts # CE11051 and not the hole center. We do not have a load range D tire, like the one on # AM30859, on a 4 on 4 white wheel. But what we do have is # AM30780. This is a 5.30-12 tire on a 4 on 4 white wheel and a load range C tire. The tire is rated for 1,045 pounds at 80 psi. A tire blowout can be caused by not inflating the tire to the correct psi. If your current tires are also rated for 80 psi, then that would be correct. The specs for the tire on the Kenda # AM30780 combo and Taskmaster tire # TTWSF53012C are basically the same except for the speed rating. One difference is the Taskmaster has a speed rating of 81 mph which is higher than many trailer tires. The Kenda doesn't list an actual speed rating just that it's a high speed tire which means we are to assume it to be 65 mph. The Kenda comes pre-mounted on a wheel and has a 5 year warranty. • Replacement Idler Hub Assemblies And Wheels For Boat Trailer
My thoughts are you have a really badly marred spindle, but that many flats is still crazy. You are most likely overloading your axle with the weights you gave. The cuts into your spindle are not good and could be from a bearing seized up that could cause issues for sure including a blown tire. If you want to swap out the hub, as long as your inner diameter on your bearings is 1 inch, the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles - 4 on 4 # AKIHUB-440-2-1K will work very well. ...

A 4.80-8 trailer tire size is going to have a max capacity of 760 lbs when inflated to 90 psi per tire. So not only would it not have enough capacity it would be too skinny to fit the wider rim you have for your 215/60-8 tires. Yes, the Kenda 5.30-12 Bias Trailer Tire and Wheel, # AM30780, can be used with the Trailer Hub Assembly, # AKIHUB-440-2-1K. The wheel that you purchased is lug-centric, meaning the wheel is centered on the hub when you tighten down the lug nuts. The diameter of the pilot hole on the wheel is not going to have any effect when mounting the wheel on the hub, so the difference between the two diameters is not an issue.
