Video Transcript for Americana Trailer Wheel Center Cap Review

Today we're going to look at the Americana stainless steel trailer wheel center cap with the plug. This is designed to fit wheels that have a 3.19 inch pilot hole diameter. This cap will create a nice finished look on your trailer by covering the wheel hub with the stainless steel center cap. Stainless steel construction is very durable and rust proof. The center plug, right here, which is a black plastic, it is designed to pop into the opening there on cap here. The reason they do that is it makes it easy. You can remove it and pop it off because if you happen to have easy lube axles on your trailer you want to be able to access that grease zerk fitting on the end of the spindle.

Some trailers will have the easy lube axle. What that does is they allow you to pump grease into the bearings without having to remove the whole hub from the axle. If you have those you want to be able to access that zerk fitting. With the center cap on your wheels it allows you, once it's installed, inaudible 00:00:55 be installed like that. Once you need to get to your easy lube axles just put a screwdriver under there, pop that center cap out without having to take the wheels and tires off you'll be able to access that and grease the bearings on your trailer. This center wheel cap, when you go to install this basically, before you put your wheel and tire up onto your trailer, turn it around and through the back of the wheel you'll just push the center cap through the center hole, the pilot hole, and you'll see this little lip right here.

I'll catch the wheel and hold it into place. When you put your wheel and tire up onto your axle and put your lug nuts on this center cap will cover that ugly axle hub and spindle that protrudes through your trailer wheel. It gives you a nice finishing touch for a better looking trailer. This will work on 12 inch, 13 inch, 14 inch, and 15 inch diameter wheels. Remember they do have to have the pilot hole diameter of 3.19 inches. I do want to give you the length or heights on this overall.

The very top is going to be right about 3 3/4 inches. What I'm going to do is I happen to pull a wheel here. I'm going to show you how we do install that. Let me go ahead and zoom out just so you can see the wheel and the cap. This wheel happens to be ...

Here's the pilot hole. It's the large hole right here in the center of the wheel. The diameter on this one is 3.19 inches, so this cap is made to fit in there. Again, once your tire's mounted on here you're going to put this up onto your trailer. Before you put it onto the trailer what you want to do is take your center cap, again you've got you your lip right there, just push that center cap right through that large pilot hole until it hits that lip. It'll hold it right into place. When you life your wheel and tire up to put onto your trailer that cap will be just like that. Put your lugs on and tighten it down. Again, it gives you a nice finished look. To remove it just take your wheel and tire off the trailer, and then just pull the cap right out through the back. Simple as that. That should do it for the review on the Americana stainless steel trailer wheel center cap with the plug to fit 3.19 inch pilot hole diameter wheels.

  • Availability of 3.19" Center Cap That is 3-3/4" Tall
We do have the stainless steel Americana Trailer Wheel Center Cap # AM90175 which fits a 3.19" pilot and has an overall height of 3-3/4". I went out to the warehouse and found that the internal height is about 3-1/8" to clips on the plastic piece but then about 3-1/2" without the plastic piece in place. Attached is a review video for you to check out.

I recommend to use Americana Trailer Wheel Center Cap - Stainless Steel - 3.19" Pilot part # AM90175 which is stainless steel for rust prevention. It also comes with a removable cap for EZ lube axles.

  • Do Trailers have Common Wheel Lug Nut Sizes for a Wheel Lock
There are common lug nut sizes found on trailers: 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, and 5/8 but the most common is 1/2 inch. If you can tell me the trailer weight capacity and wheel size/bolt pattern I can verify if they are likely to be 1/2 inch or another size. If they are 1/2 inch we have wheel lock # RG01-150. Another option is a lock such as # WI490. With it the lug nut size won't matter. I have linked a video of this lock and included a link to the wheel locks we carry.

  • Determining Lug Nut Size for 14 Inch Trailer Wheel
For a 14" trailer wheel you're most likely looking at a lug nut that threads onto 1/2"-20 lug bolts such as the Lionshead # LHLR103. With that being said this is going to be more dependent on the hub than the wheel itself so I definitely recommend verifying this. The best way to do this is to simply remove one of the existing nuts and take it up to a local hardware store. They should have various bolts that you can test fit the nut on to determine the thread pitch and diameter it works with.

  • Replacement Center Wheel Cap for 14" Wheels on Dandy boat Trailer

This has a stainless steel construction and a removable plug on the end. It fits a 3.19" pilot diameter so that will work with your 3-3/16" measurement.

  • Recommended Tire, Wheel, Center Cap, and Lug Nuts for a Triton LTWCII PWC Boat Trailer
According to my research your Triton LTWCII PWC trailer has a GVWR of 2,500 lbs so while the Kenda ST145R12 Radial Trailer Tire w/12" Aluminum HWT S5 Black Wheel # AM35354 you referenced will fit, the tire only has a Load Range D (1,220 lbs at 65 psi) rating so with 2 tires the most you can carry is 2,440 lbs. As long as your overall weight of the boat and trailer don't exceed this then this combination is a great option for your trailer. I also recommend picking up the following center...

  • How To Determine The Correct Lug Nuts For Your Trailer's Wheels
There unfortunately isn't a guide to tell us the size needed for your specific trailer, but it's really easy to measure for the correct size lug nuts. You'll want to use a set of calipers # PTW80157 to measure the diameter of the wheel stud, including the threads and then measure the pitch by counting the threads in one inch of space on the stud. The most common sizes are 1/2"-20, 9/16"-18, and 5/8"-18. The 1/2"-20 wheel studs are typically used on small-medium duty trailers whereas the...

  • Replacement Plug For Wheel Center Cap On a 2020 Forest River Salem Cruise Lite Travel Trailer
For replacing a plug on a Wheel Center Cap # AM90175 you will need to measure the diameter of the hole opening. Forest River could not provide me with an exact measurement for this on your 2020 Salem Cruise Lite so you will need to verify using a Digital Caliper # PTW80157. It would appear you have a 3,500lb axle and use the center cap with a 3.19" pilot hole. Fits 1-13/16 Inch Holes in Chrome # CCP-60C Fits 1-7/8 Inch Holes in Chrome # AM90082 or Black # AM90081

  • Replacement Wheel Center Cap Plug For A 2022 Heartland RV Torque T333
So it doesn't appear that we have any plugs that will fit your center cap so the only way to replace it would be to get a new cover entirely. If you measure the pilot hole for the wheel I can look for a replacement that will fit. For example. the Lionshead Trailer Wheel Center Cap w/ Snap-In Plug # LHCS102-SI60C fits a 3.19" pilot hole. We have quite a few sizes so once we know your pilot hole size we can find a matching center cap to complete your setup.

We do have lug nuts and center caps for the Westlake ST205/75R15 Radial Tire w 15" Condor Aluminum Wheel # WST74FR but they are not included. I recommend the Chrome Trailer Wheel Lug Nut part # 12CLN-L and Americana Trailer Wheel Center Cap part # AM90175 for this wheel. You'll need the long style nuts for the aluminum wheels and the removable center section of the cap allows for access of spindle zerk fittings if equipped.

Both the center cap and lug nuts I have listed are stainless steel so they will resist corrosion just like the aluminum wheel. The center cap does have a black inset for access to any grease zerk you may have for easy lube axle.

  • What Cone Angle Lug Nuts for Hub on 7K Trailer Hub/Drum
The hub, such as the Dexter # 8-219-13UC3 doesn't care which lug nut you use, as long as it's compatible with the 9/16 inch wheel stud diameter. The wheel itself is what dictates whether a coned lug nut is needed and what angle the cone needs to be. Most stud piloted wheels (most trailer wheels) would use a 60º coned lug nut like # 6-53 for a steel wheel or # LHLR110 for an aluminum wheel.

  • How to Determine Which Center Cap is Compatible with My Horse Trailer
Yes, there is a way to know the center bore diameter without taking your tire off. You would want to measure the diameter of your rusted center cap with a digital caliper like # PTW80157. This will give you the center bore diameter you are looking for. The center bore hole of the wheel (pilot size) should measure 3.19 inches for the # AM90175 you were looking at.
