Video Transcript for etrailer Trailer Suspension - Leaf Spring Suspension - APS2 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs. This kit includes your front hangers, rear hangers, shackle straps and hardware for mounting springs to your 2,000-lb to 7,000-lb, single-axle trailer frame. That components for mounting the axle to the springs are sold separately. This kit's going to two leaf springs to your trailer frame. The components are made from a very strong and durable steel construction. The hangers are weld-on installation, and they do have a couple holes on top. Those are designed for spot welds. With this video we just want to go over the components that are included with the kit.

It's going to come with two 1-1/2" tall front hangers. Now the front hangers are these right here. The hight measurement is taken from the center of the 9/16" diameter hole to the very top of the hanger, so that's where we get the 1-1/2" measurement from. Again, nice, durable construction. Steel design.

Couple holes on top for spot welds, and 9/16" diameter holes on the side. Then you're also going to get two 1-1/4" tall rear hangers. Now these do not have bushings. Again, that height measurement is measured from the center of the 9/16" diameter hole to the top of the hanger, so that's where we get the 1-1/4" from. It's also going to come with four 2-5/8" long shackle straps. The length measurement is taken from the center of one hole to the center of the other, so that's 2 & 5/8 of an inch. Again, 9/16" diameter holes.

You're going to get four of those straps, and you're going to get six 3" long x 9/16" diameter shackle bolts, and six 9/16" diameter locknuts. That's going to do it for today's look at the Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs.

Excellent fit and functionality. I would definitely recommend purchasing. E-Trailer is definitely my favorite for trailer parts.

by:

The jack is decent. My only complaint would be that the wheel I purchased to go on to the jack does not pivot or turn when I push the trailer around.
I have to constantly kick the wheel in order to guide the trailer into position.

by:

Lauren from etrailer was very knowledgeable and thought of additional items I needed to complete my project that I didn't think of.

by:

had to replace most of the shackle bolts that came with this setup because the threaded ends were damaged. rest of items were fine and made a nice trailer from scratch

by:

Items were clearly marked so ordering was a breeze and item quality was great- definitely my trailer go to place

by:

Good quality. Still riding strong after a year.

by:

Honest opinion. This was the easiest order for parts I have experienced. Parts were delivered quickly, and plenty of follow up by etrailer to ensure: order was as described, and delivered on time. My only place to order trailer parts.

No problems with parts. Everything is still working as it should.

by:

Nice hanger kit, and a good value with no sacrifices. Hangers are made of quality, thick metal that welded easily. They seem to be made well and the holes and dimensions are consistent, which is true of the shackle plates as well. The hardware is, well, its hardware, its nice, and it all works. Not much else to say, other than I got exactly what I expected and I'm happy with it!

After a year, still working out great. Single axle utility trailer, only gets used a dozen, maybe 20 times a year, but it gets loaded down pretty heavy and this hardware holds up just fine.

by:

The hanger kit was rough cut. Had sharp points extended beyond the normal hanger. Had to grind all of the points to avoid getting stabbed anymore

by:

Couldn`t be more pleased. I use a lot of Etrailer patrs

by:

I got the box on time -the actual box with the parts in it, had a hole in it. But the shipping box did not… so it left the facility damaged to begin with. I opened the box to find out it’s missing one of the bolts and another one had messed up threads. I will now have to go to the hardware store and pick up to grade 8 bolts.

My experience with etrailer has been 5 star. Service and product are great. Installed springs and shackles without having to modify to fit. Sold trailer soon afterwards.

by:

I ordered a bunch of different items to do a complete rebuild on a 1989 utility trailer. Everything I ordered came well packaged in a huge box and most things were even individually boxed and protected inside. Springs, shackles, hdwe, fenders are all nice quality, heavy duty and better than original. I like that the spring mounts are longer and heavier than (my) original equipment. Also the spring mounts (that I recieved) were drilled for bolt on installation if you don't have a welder. Prices are real good especially for this quality, and shipping was spot on.. had everything in a couple days. Thanks e-trailer

by:

The spring kit was perfect. Heavy duty and fit the 60 year old springs on my trailer. I was originally concerned that I could not find parts that would fit my old trailer but etrailer had them. Good pricing and shipping.

by:

Looks good haven’t installed it yet but I did install the double eye leaf spring mounting kit and the 2000lb double eye leaf springs very happy with all that I ordered I payed for the 3-5 day shipping I think I ordered on a Tuesday and was at my door by 130 Friday I will buy from them again

by:

Everything was just as I ordered was delivered quickly and is already mounted on my trailer. I am building a rotisserie smoker and the trailer to set it on. etrailer had everything I needed.

It has been great good quality product. Would buy again.

by:

These work great for mounting 1.75" springs. They have holes in them, which are "weld holes" but in my case I am using them with strengthened steel bolts to bolt directly on to my trailer. Not what they are supposed to be used for, but works in my application since my trailer will not be carrying much weight. Maybe I will get them welded on later.

by:

I have dealt with etrailer for many years and have not been disappointed. Adam has been in contact with me a couple of times to see how my order went and I have not been unhappy yet. Do mistakes happen? Sure no company is perfect, but it is how they handle it that makes them a five star company. Keep up the stellar work!

by:

Everything was great shipping box was tore open

by:

As described, fast shipping.

by:

I have not assembled the trailer yet, but the quality of the parts
is good, delivery was quick and the price was great due to the
free shipping. So far my favorite place to buy trailer parts.

by:

I have purchased from etrailer several times and as always never disappointed! Great selection, price, and shipping. Made my purchase during the virus pandemic and order was received within without a problem as if nothing was going on!

by:

WE LIVE IN A TIME WHERE WE CLENTCH OUR TEETH AT THE THOUGHT OF ORDERING SOMETHING AND THEN WAITING....WITH ETRAILER WE ALWAYS KNOW THAT WHEN WE PLACE OUR ORDER, IT SHIPS AND IS RECIEVED IN A TIMELY MANNER THAT WORKS WELL WITH OUR PRODUCTION TEAM. WE APPRECIATED YOUR DEDICATION TO TAKING CARE OF YOUR CUSTOMERS SO THAT WE CAN TAKE CARE OF OURS.

by:

GREAT QUALITY AND SUPER FAST DELIVERY!! !!

by:

Worked perfect for putting an axle under my home built log splitter.

  • Recommended Double Eye Leaf Springs and Hanger Kit for 3,500 Pound Axle Trailer
For double eye leaf springs, I recommend going with the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # SP210275. This spring is 25-1/8 inches long x 1-3/4 inches wide and designed for 3,500 pound axles. These springs are a common length for 3,500 pound trailers. One spring is included with the part number, so you will want to order 2 of the same spring in order to replace both sides. A suspension kit will provide you with new hangers, shackle bolts, shackle straps, and locknuts needed for your new leaf springs....

The Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs - 1-1/2" Front, 1-1/4" Rear # APS2 will work well for your 1-3/4 inch wide leaf springs. Double eye springs are the style have both the bolt in the front and rear and are more common than slipper style springs that only have a bolt on the front end. The difference in the kits are in the rear hangers and the shackle straps. The Redline Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit, part # APS1, uses the Redline Rear Hanger, part # 30-20, which uses a steel bushing and is .91 inches tall. For example, if your rear leaf spring hangers are 7/8" tall or shorter than you would want to use part # APS1 but if they are taller then this you would want to use part # APS2 or part # APS3. • How Far Apart Should Trailer Suspension Hangers Be When Installing Them
When mounting trailer suspension hangers like the # APS2 on a single axle trailer the key is to take the length of the spring from eye to eye and subtract 1/4 inch to determine where to place them apart. So for a 26 inch long leaf spring the distance you'd need to use when mounting the hangers would be 25-3/4 inches and you'd be set!

Bushings do not always have to be used. Springs typically have bushings or they will use wet bolts depending on which part of the suspension system it is but not always.
