Question:

I am going to buy a Harbor Freight 4X8 folding trailer. I want to buy the following components to upgrade it. I am not sure whether this combination has any problem or not. The Dexter Trailer Idler Axle w/ Idler Hubs - EZ-Lube - 4 on 4 Bolt Pattern - 60" Long - 2,000 lbs # 20440I-EZ-60 will be a great upgrade from the axle that comes on Harbor Freight trailers. The 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 2,000-lb Trailer Axles - 20-3/8inch Long # e84SR and hanger kit # APS2 will work well as will the u-bolts # CE23000.

The Kenda 4.80-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" Galvanized Wheel - 4 on 4 - Load Range C # AM30630 is rated for 990 lbs each max capacity, so you will be limited by the tire combination to 1,980 lbs. That tire is also limited to 65 mph.

You may be further limited by the trailer frame or coupler, but these added components will all work well together to give you a far superior trailer than the original equipment. I've attached an article on axle placement to further assist.
