Why are the Rear Hangers Thinner in Width than the Front Hangers?
Updated 09/02/2025 | Published 06/26/2025 >
Question:
Are the rear hangers thinner to account for the extra thickness of the shackles? Or do I need a 1/4inch spacer on each side of the leaf spring to account for the offset?

Hello Preston,
Yes, on the Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs - 1-1/2" Front, 1-1/4" Rear # APS2 the rear hangers are thinner in width to accommodate for the shackle straps installing on the outside to connect to the 1 3/4" leaf springs.
Are you building a trailer from scratch, or replacing the suspension on an older trailer?

Hey Preston, Did you decide to build a trailer from scratch or are you updating an older one with the new suspension kit? I'm curious to know how it turned out, as your experience could be really helpful for others working on similar projects.
