Video Transcript for What to Know About the Front/Center/Rear Hanger for Double-Eye Springs

Today we're going to be taking a look at the front, center, or rear hanger for double eye springs. This hanger can be used as a front hanger on single axle applications and it can be used as a front, center, or rear hanger on tandem or triple axle applications. It's designed to fit 1 3/4 inch wide double eye springs with 9/16 inch diameter eyes. It will work with a 9/16 inch diameter bolt. Your hardware is sold separately. The units made from a sturdy steel construction that measures around 3/16 of an inch thick. It is a weld on application so it would get welded directly to the trailer frame. The holes on the top are not for a bolt on installation.

These holes are for if the installer would like to use button welds instead of or in addition to welding around the hanger. The height measurement for a hanger is taken from the center of the mount hole to the top of the hanger so for this particular unit it's going to give us a height measurement of 3 1/4 inches. The overall length of the unit edge to edge going this direction we're looking at a measurement of 3 inches. The overall height, that's going to give us a height of around 3 13/16 of an inch. When it comes to the width, measuring the external width first, that's going to measure about 2 3/8, internal width is going to measure about 1 7/8 - 1 15/16 of an inch. Then all the holes on the unit are going to have a diameter of 9/16 of an inch. That's going to do it for today's look at the front, center, or rear hanger for double eye springs..

  • How to Gain Ground Clearance for a Travel Trailer that Hits the Driveway When Entering or Leaving
There are a couple different ways to raise the ride height of your trailer, but before we choose the best option for you, we will want to take a look at a few things. First, it sounds like you are not towing with your trailer level so you do not hit your ball mount on the driveway. A trailer that is not level can create many problems such as ground clearance and trailer sway. If you have any sway control issues with your trailer, then I would recommend moving your leaf springs above your...

  • Looking For New Equalizer Hanger, Bolts And Bushings For Lippert LCI 52 Axle
Hello Christopher, thanks for reaching out. We may have the parts you are looking for, but there would be no way to know exactly what you need based on just an axle type. So you will need to do some measuring. Hangers are measured from the top of the hanger to the center of the bolt hole. Also check the width of your leaf springs. The bolts should be a 9/16" but please confirm. The bushings are typically a 9/16" ID 11/16" OD but please confirm this as well. Hit the reply button below...

  • Angle Of Shackles On Trailer Appear Wrong When Installing Leaf Springs
Ff the springs you are installing are 25-1/4 inches, you would need to place the hangers between 24-3/4 and 25 inches apart. The shackle should be angled as the drawing shows in the attached helpful article, which should be toward the rear of the trailer. Make sure the trailer is not under load when you are installing the hangers and it never hurts to double check the measurements of the springs and the hanger locations as well.

  • How to Raise a Trailer for More Ground Clearance
There are a couple of things that you can do to get more ground clearance for your new trailer. First, if the leaf spring stack is attached under the axle then you could use an over/under conversion kit. If the trailer has a 2-3/8 inch diameter round axle use # K71-384-00. If it has a 3 inch diameter round axle use # K71-385-00. This will move the leaf spring stack to the top of the axle and raise the trailer approximately the same amount as the axle diameter. These kits will only work...

  • How to Raise Tandem Axle Trailer 3" For Deck Clearance
Based on your picture the axle is already on top of the leaf springs so a flip kit like # K71-384-00 is out of the question. The only lift kit we have outside of the axle flip is the Correct Track # RR23QX. However, this maxes out at 2-1/4" so it won't be enough. The only remaining option would be to cut off your old hangers and install taller ones to raise the height. You will need to measure your existing hangers and add 3" to find the right replacement.

No, I am sorry we do not sell the MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Triple Axle Trailers item # MR86ZR with the hangers from the Triple-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit item # APTT5. I checked with MORryde and they don't offer kits like that either. You can buy the hangers separately with item # 28-5 but it wouldn't be cost effective plus you would still need equalizers. Another option other than replacing your hangers is to use the Correct Track Trailer Alignment and Lift Kit item # RR55QX....

  • How Are Shackle Straps Supposed to Be Positioned When The Trailer Is Loaded?
As far as repositioning the hole in your hanger, that will depend on how much longer the new leaf springs are versus the stock spring. Say for example the new springs are 1" longer than stock when measured center eye to center eye across. I would say split that distance in half. So moving the hole out 1/2" will get you to where the shackles should be at an appropriate angle. Adding a bit more arc and leaves will add to your ride height. As far as the shackle strap position, there is not...

The Hanger # 28-5 spacing for the Dexter Heavy-Duty Suspension Kit # K71-360-00 on your triple axle trailer is going to depend on the length of the leaf springs you are using. With the 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # e76SR having a length of 24-7/8" this means you will need your hangers spaced 29-1/2" from the center hanger to front and rear on center. The center hangers will be spaced 34" on center.

For example, if you were to go with an equalizer that is one inch taller, you could keep the center hanger the same but would need one inch longer end hangers. The hanger length can affect the trailer height. You would need to change the height of all the hangers equally to keep the geometry of the trailer the same. But at the end of the day there are other ways to get more height on a trailer.
