A trailer jack is designed to lift the tongue of your trailer so you can connect the trailer coupler to your hitch ball. To do this, you'll need a jack with a lift capacity high enough to handle your trailer's tongue weight.
Tongue weight is the amount of weight that your trailer applies to the back of your tow vehicle. Typically, your tongue weight should be 10-15% of your total trailer weight (trailer + cargo). In other words, a 10,000-lb trailer would have a tongue weight between 1,000 lbs and 1,500 lbs. For a trailer this size, you would need a jack with a lift capacity of at least 1,500 lbs.
It's okay to have a jack with a weight rating that is higher than your trailer's tongue weight. In fact, a jack with a higher lift capacity should operate more efficiently, allowing you to spend less time cranking and more time camping.
Every jack offers a certain amount of lift or travel. Screw travel is the distance the jack extends when you crank it (or toggle it to "extend" on an electric model). Some jacks include a drop leg for extra adjustability. On these jacks, you'll see the maximum extension of the drop leg listed in the specs as well. Adding the screw travel and drop leg travel together will give you the total lift. The total lift listed above can help you determine how high this jack will be able to raise your trailer.

Maintenance-free, corrosion-resistant jack is made for marine, recreational and utility trailers. Features aluminum alloy construction, adjustable mount and swivel system and twin-track wheels that roll independently to aid in maneuverability. The jack is everything I hoped it would be. It's lightweight and operates very smoothly even under a load that is at or slightly over design capacity. I love it and hope it stands up to the test of time.
I have two complaints (that would NOT prevent me from ordering this particular jack again):
1) The weld-on plate did not come threaded
2) A service bulletin came with the jack calling for me to drill-in a ventilation port
In my opinion, threads and holes should be included. Attention to detail is essential if you want repeat customers.
Just got the 3200 winch and 1600 trailer jack installed on my trailer and if these products work half as good as they look I will be completely happy with my purchase. Only thing I can say as of now is I wish I would of upgraded sooner.
It seems OK. I used the weld mount plate but bolted that against the web of an aluminum I beam on a large boat trlr. This spaced out with 1" treated lumber so the jack can swing clear of the I beam. Hopefully it will last much longer than the sleazy ones in common use. I would be nice if it had grease fittings.
Was described by seller and is a very sturdy hitch and top quality item I would highly recommend this product to anyone and I would buy from this seller again
We use the Jack on utility trailer. We knew that it was overkill when we bought it but it is exactly what we wanted…
Fast delivery easy to buy from!!! My first choice for all trailer needs!!
Bought it last year to replace a broken boat trailer hitch.
I liked it. Easy to install and use.
Would recommend it.
This is a very sturdy and well made trailer jack. Very versatile too in terms of lifting heights.
Paying extra for the the weld on bracket is a waste. It doesn't specify that it is regular steel. It is useless in saltwater. The jack itself is expensive. There is several hardware (nuts and bolts) that should be stainless steel. I do not care about the warranty, I took the hardware off and matched it up at a local hardware store and replaced everything I could with Stainless steel. It cost an extra $8. (I replaced the handle, wheel and adjustment bolts) For a jack that is $156, these are things that should not have to be done. Cold sprayed Galvanized hardware in a saltwater environment is not a corrosion preventative and may as well be regular steel. The pull release handle spring to swivel the jack up and down is also unprotected steel. I made sure that was heavily greased to prevent failure. If you are in a saltwater environment, take measures to prevent failure. If not the jack won't last 6 months.
Jack is mounted to a tow- behind air compressor. The dual wheels are essential for moving around on concrete floor and make it easier to hook up to truck.
I love this Jack. So easy to use. I had it welded on my trailer so no worries. I'm a single female (baby boomer) and this jack really made it much easier for me to handle my trailer. Very Sturdy! I would recommend it to anyone.
Product is what I expected.
Perfect product , BUT should have had installation instructions . The installer welded it on at the WRONG height so now when the trailer is loaded , I have to go and place a jack under the tongue so I can use your fine product !!??!! PLEASE consider have instructions including WHERE to weld it on concerning the height .
Thank You
Have not been to the lake (4hrs away) in order to install the trailer jack on the boat trailer. The jack appears to be a good quality ,heavy duty jack that should work great on my boat trailer. I am very pleased with the overall quality of the product.
We do have some replacement parts for the F2 jacks. I have added links to the crank handle for F2 Swing-Ups, F500134, and the gear kit, F500314.
--My purchase was for a replacement trailer jack. This meant it had to be just as it was advertised in order to fit properly. I knew I would need to modify the trailer for the new jack and all went perfectly. The new jack is great and I would highly recommend them to anyone needing a trailer jack.
One down side is they are a little pricey$$.
my salesman was FANTASTIC!!!!!
this is an excellent product, 400% better tan most of its closest rivals.
super sturdy, and you canyt terll by the pics but the pivot point is in a groove on the back of the jack so that it is fully adjustable from ner the wheel to almost at the handle, very helpful for customizing the fit to your trailer.
Also etrailer sells a brakewheel wedge(F500132) which is awesome for stopping the trailer rolling away.
These jacks deserve a more detailed description and photos which i thik would help people understand why they cost do much more than regular jacvks, WELL WORTH THE MONEY
I have not put it on yet but looks very strong and well built. I am tired of those that won’t turn and they flex. If it works good I am getting another for my other trailer
Looks great and works great great customer service easy install but I do my own welding so that helps
This jack replaced the exact same model that came on my boat trailer. the first one lasted 6 years. it is a heavy ski boat so we will see how long this one lasts. so far one season in with no issues.
Great service from etrailer.
So far so good. Delivered as shown in your on line catalog. A lot heavier and more rugged than expected, which is good. Much more sturdy than the 20 year old one that is currently on the boat trailer holding my 1947 wood Chris Craft.
Plan to have it welded on next week.
Only minor issue was that it was scratched up some on the aluminum barrel. No big deal as most likely it will get a lot more scratches.
Waiting for the wheel stop that i see will be easy to install.
good product, great Internet co. I have bought from them before several times, n e v e r had any problem, always 100 percent service. 5 star.
One of the bolts sheered off with very little torque applied to it.
Great product
