Video Transcript for Review of etrailer Trailer Jack - Side Frame Mount Jack - TJDDP-20000SP-F

Jeff: Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at this etrailer square sidewind weld-on jack with the spring return drop leg. Has a 12,000 pound lift capacity. Now this is a nice heavy duty single speed utility jack. This will let you raise and lower your trailer. So it is ideal for heavy duty commercial and agriculture application.

The amount of screw travel on this when you crank the handle is 13 and a half inches. The drop leg right here, which I have fully extended, has a spring return, which will increase overall extension for maximum adjustability. Has this easy to use foot lever right here positioned at the front. All you do with that is just step on. It's a dual pin foot lever. You step on it, and it'll release the drop leg to get you that 13 inch of maximum lift. Now the adjustment holes, you can see the adjustment holes.

I do have it extended all the way as far as it can go. So this is your total 13 inch drop, but you can adjust it in increments of two and a half inches. The measurements between each hole, center to center, is two and a half inches. So it'll give you a range to free or fit your application. So if you do the total lift on this, if you take the screw travel we mentioned a 13 and a half inches of cranking, and you do the drop leg of 13 inches, it can give you a total lift of 26 and a half inches. And again, just to crank this with the handle, you can see slide that on there.

Then if you crank it counterclockwise, it's going to raise the jack. And I mentioned it gets you a 13 and a half inches of screw travel. Then if you go clockwise, it's going to lower the jack. And once you get far enough, it'll stop and you can pull your handle out, and then it'll rest just like that. Now this does use a durable one and a quarter inch diameter jack screw, so it allows for heavy lifting. It does use twin thrust bearings to make extending and retracting the jack very easy.

You can easily maintain those bearings because they have these built-in grease zerk fittings right here that you can just snap your grease gun on there and pump the grease right in there. Makes it very easy to maintain. It's a nice black powder coat finish on both the inner and the outer tubes. The sidewind handle here, you can see, has nice curved edges, so there's no sharp ends. And the footplate on the very bottom is a nine inch by nine inch size footplate, so it does minimize the sinking in any soft ground. This is a nice weld-on installation. Now the height on this, in the retracted position, so if I dropped this leg all the way down, retracted it and then have this end retract, so fully retracted position, it's going to be 29 and a half inches from the bottom to the very top. Now if we crank it out 13 and a half inches and then raise the drop leg 13 inches, if you add that all together, the total extended height from the bottom to the top, it's going to be about 56 inches. We mentioned the lift capacity on this is 12,000 pounds. The support capacity is 20,000 pounds. Now the outer tube width, it's going to be four and three eighths inches. Inner tube width is four inches. But then again, just to show you, if you need to crank it, just slide the handle in. And then again, if you rotate it counterclockwise, we'll raise the jack. And clockwise will lower the jack. Then again on your drop leg operation, if he just put your foot on this lever here, push down, it'll release the dual pins, one on each side. Then you can adjust your drop leg to whatever position you need. But that should do it for the review on the etrailer square sidewind weld-on jack with the spring return drop leg, and a 12,000 pound lift capacity.

Wish I would have upgraded sooner, is the first thing that comes to mind. The original equipment jack should be against the law of building trailers. I've never owned a trailer from a company that installs a jack long enough to reach the ground and lift the trailer off the ball, without having to use a block of some sort. This solves that issue! The drop leg alone gets you within an inch or two of where you'll start winding the jack to lift it off the ball. The side handle location is better in my opinion, and this has a grease fitting for maintenance. When installing, I had to turn the round hole into a square hole using my angle grinder with a cutoff wheel, maybe took 20 minutes to lay out the cut lines, make the cuts, and finish up with a file to smooth the edges. You will have to re-locate the 2 rear holes of the jack when mounting as they don't line up with the original ones. This is no big deal though, and even though the metal I was drilling through was pretty thick, if you'll put a few drops of oil in the spot you're drilling and then re-apply once or twice while drilling, this part will go quickly and easily and you won't burn your drill bit up. Don't forget the original equipment bolts are threaded, so you'll need some bolts, washers and nuts once you drill the 2 rear holes, unless you have the tools to thread them. I hope those few humble suggestions help anyone considering buying this. I couldn't be happier, and I"ll be buying another for my smaller trailer, even though this is rated for way more than it can haul. Worth every penny, don't hesitate to buy.

I do repair work and put this jack on a farm trailer. the owner loves it. Doesn't sway or twist under load.

by:

It has been fantastic so far. I installed it as a replacement for the jack on the front of my 10k equipment trailer after the handle on the original jack broke off. I wish I had ripped the old jack off the day I bought the trailer and put this on in its place. MUCH MUCH MUCH easier to use, especially when the trailer is loaded.

by:

These jacks work great on our cable reel trailers we make here at Utiliquip. They weld on easily and can usually be repaired when someone drives away with the jack down or catches the handle on something and bends it. We use them as stabilizer jacks on our 14000lb GVWR trailer and they work gret!

No one can match your customer service.you have won me over . But you may want to get with your shipper about damage. The pictures are of the replacement damage box. But this time the part was not damaged.I will order from you in the future.

by:

WE HAVE BEEN USING THIS PRETTY MUCH SINCE WE RECEIVED IT WITH OUT ANY ISSUES. WE USE IT TO STABILIZE A FOLD DOWN SIDE TABLE ON THE SIDE OF A MOBILE WORK STATION THAT MOVES ALMOST WEEKLT FROM WELL TO WELL ITS GETS A LOT OF SWING IN AND OUT OF POSTION THE UP AND DOWN MOVEMENT DOESNT TRAVEL MUCH BUT IS FUNCTION FLAWLESS EVEY TIME

by:

Jack works great. Damaged the original when I forgot to lift the foot and hit my concrete parking apron. After I straighten out the mount this jack fit the hole perfectly and works great.

by:

If you don't have a drop foot jack you don't know what you're missing out on. this jack is a game changer for those who have to hitch a trailer daily as i do

by:

Had issues with one jack purchased. Worked with Roger on a broken shaft. Sent great pictures and was told that I did not need to ship actual jack back(it was back East and my customer was hot because it had broken and felt that having to ship a broken jack was too much at that time)I sent my customer a new jack and made them happy and continued to work with Cruz on replacement. I was told it was out of stock and when back in stock that they would replace it.Six months later and three new representatives I was told that they now needed the old jack before anything was done.(my customer disposed of it 4 months ago) I think Cruz must be gone, now Amy is representative giving me the run around. I would warn anyone against purchasing anything from them. No customer service was given, just song and dance and warranty blah blah.

Always a pleasure dealing with etrailer good quality and prices fast delivery ,got my 12000 lb trailer jack in 2 days

by:

Very well built. Paint isn't the kind that will last very long but I expected that. The rate the leg drops compared to the number of cranks is a bit slow but that makes it a lot easier to lift my heavy trailer. Make sure you grease it before using. Didn't have much grease in it.

by:

The jack was an exact replacement, still operating as designated.

Ordering process was quick and easy.

My go to company for trailer parts is etrailer!

by:

Product was what to be expected no issues there. Etrailer shipped fast and we never have an issue with them. Buy from Etrailer you won't regret.
