E-Z Lube-Compatible Assembly for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub-and-drum assembly is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

  • Replacement Axle, Brake Assemblies, And Hubs And Drums For M1101 Trailer
Based on my research your M1101 trailer has a GVWR of around 3400lbs, so for a replacement axle I recommend taking a look at the Timbren Heavy-Duty Axle-Less Trailer Suspension - Straight Spindle - Off-Road Tires - 3,500 lbs # ASR35HDS01 which will bolt to the frame of your trailer and replace your current axle and suspension setup. The # ASR35HDS01 is designed for wide off-road tires meaning it would give you the extra clearance you need to run the typical wide off-road tires found on...

  • Replacement Hub and Drum Assembly For Older Drum Marked HD-1206
The HD-1206 number you found on your drum cross references to the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 5,200-lb Axles - 6 on 5-1/2 # 8-201-5 which is a 12" x 2" drum with the 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern you mentioned but has wheel studs instead of holes for wheel bolts. The # 8-201-5 requires inner bearing # 25580, outer bearing # LM67048, grease seal # RG06-090, and grease cap # RG04-080 as these are not included. I included a video of the # 8-201-5 for you to take a look at.

If you are wanting to replace your axles with traditional axles then the first step would be to find what your Hub Face (A) and Spring Center (B) measurements will need to be (see attached picture). From there you will need to mock up your trailer to determine what size you need of the following items: 4 - Double-eye springs 2 - Front hangers 2 - Center hangers 2 - Rear hangers 2 - Equalizers 8 - Shackle straps 14 - Shackle bolts 4 - Spring seats (if needed) 4 - U-bolt sets (8 U-bolts) 4...

  • How to Tell if Dexter Hub and Drum Will Fit a 2006 Raytheon M1101 and Work with FJ Cruiser Wheels
Hey Efrain, thanks for the photos! From what I'm seeing it does look like the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # 8-201-5UC3-EZ bearings will fit, you'll just want to make sure your spindle measures 2.125" where the grease seal rides in order for this to properly fit. If your FJ Cruiser has a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern then the wheel should fit just fine on this but you'll need to make sure your trailer fenders and frame will still have enough clearance and won't be rubbing during travel.

  • Replacing the Axle on a Gooseneck Horse Trailer
An axle flip kit like part # K71-384-00 will raise the trailer the diameter of the axle plus the height of the leaf spring pack. I do have options for you but rotating the axle to where the bend faces the other direction is not one of them. The bend in the axle will actually straighten out once a load is placed on the trailer and if this was reversed, the axle would lose capacity. Now from this point forward you have two options both of which entail replacing the axle. Since your current...

Hey Josh, thanks for reaching out. The part number from the drum helps a lot, but there are a few different versions of the 8-201 hub so you really just need to determine which one fits your application best. All 3 options I will list below use the same bearings so it boils down to the weight capacity and the inner diameter of the grease seal used: - Part - # 8-201-9UC3-EZ - 5.2K - 6K capacity and seal has ID of 2.125" - Part - # 8-201-5UC3-EZ - 5.2K capacity and seal has ID of 2.125" -...

  • Hub/Drums and Brake Assemblies to Use with Timbren Axle Less Kit HD For 3,500 lb Axles
Hey Michael, the correct hub/drum to use with the Timbren kit part # ASR35HDS05 would be the part # 8-201-5UC3-EZ which has a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern. Then for brakes you'd want the part # AKEBRK-7-SA. The hubs mentioned have a 6 lug bolt pattern, do you have wheels and tires already?

For a new hub/drum that will work great with your current axles you'd want the part # 8-201-5UC3-EZ and then for brake assemblies you'd want the # AKEBRK-7-SA which are self-adjusting. To wire up the brakes you'd need 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 which we sell by the foot. Then leaf springs the part # e34SR would work really well too. Then for a U-bolt kit you'd want the part # APUBR-8. For new shackles I'd need you to get me the length of the ones you have now though. Measured from...

  • Can Trailer Hubs Be Used On A Mobile Home Axle?
Hey Matt, thanks for reaching out. We may have a bearing or two that match your ID measurements, but we do not have a hub that uses the bearing sizes you mentioned. The 1.378” inner bearing, part # L68149 is a fairly common bearing, but this is generally used with the 1.063" ID # L44649 bearing. Mobile home axles are designed for one-time use applications, and meant to be discarded after that. They do not use standard bearing combinations or hub sizes that most trailers use. I wish we...

  • Do 3,500 lb Trailer Axles and 5,200 lb Axles Use Same Hub/Drums and Brake Assemblies
The hub/drum/brake assembly components are a totally different size between a 3,500 lb axle and a 5,200 lb axle. You can easily swap to the 5,200 lb axle like the part # 8327816 but you will need new hub/drums like the # 8-201-5UC3-EZ which has a 12 inch diameter (3,500 lb setups are 10 inch), and then for brake assemblies # 23-464-465 for a left and right hand side. This setup will require wheels that have a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern which you may or may not already have.

The alternative solution that we have is the Timbren Axle-Less Suspension # ASR5200S01. This system is rated for 5,200 lbs and can be used as a single axle or you can use 2 for a tandem axle trailer. • Upgrading from D35 Dexter 3,500 Lb Axle to 5,200 Lb Timbren Axle-Less Suspension
Technically, there isn't a reason why you couldn't replace your Dexter 3,500 lb axle with a higher-rated one. That being said, that doesn't automatically increase your trailer's weight capacity. You would still be limited by the lowest-rated component and that can be something other than the axle, such as the trailer's frame. If you reach out to the trailer manufacturer, they should be able to tell you which is the lowest rated component on your trailer. Now, in order to convert to the...

  • Axle Recommendation for Trailer Carrying 9,000 Lbs
Since you mention that your trailer will max out 9,000 pounds, which I assume includes the weight of the trailer frame and all cargo, I recommend going with the Timbren Axle-Less Suspension, # ASR5200S01. I spoke with my shop manager regarding whether he felt using the 5,200 pound axles would be overkill. • Replacement Hubs and Brakes for 2018 Kodiak Cub 175BH
Hi Jon; the parts you picked out will work as a replacement. The Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # 8-201-5UC3-EZ is an 8-201 hub with a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern. The etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes # AKEBRK-6 are compatible with this hub and drum assembly. However, I recommend getting the # AKEBRK-7-SA instead. These are self-adjusting so you won't have to worry about adjusting your brakes over time. If you need new brake mounting hardware you can use the # BRKH12.

  • What is Difference Between Dexter Hubs # # 8-201-9UC3-EZ and # 8-201-5UC3-EZ
The only differences between the two hubs you mentioned # 8-201-9UC3-EZ and # 8-201-5UC3-EZ are that the 8-201-5UC3-EZ is not pre-greased and the other is and they have different bearing between the two. But the bearings both have the same inner diameter so it really doesn't matter much. So if I were you Robert I would go with the pre-greased part # 8-201-9UC3-EZ. The bearings that come with both are from China.
