Product was exactly as described. Shipping speed/tracking was great and precise. Bulky item so the box usually shows up looking like hammered with the hitch sticking out the side but never usually any damage to product. Not etrailers fault as this is a always a logistics issue. Hitch showed up on schedule. The price of the hitch dropped in between me paying and shortly after receiving it so I called etrailer and they price adjusted which speaks volumes for the company in my opinion.

I used car ramps to raise the rear of my 2019 CRV. Followed the provided video and all went smooth. However, it was best to get a friend to help position rack. Great Sturdy hitch. Arrived well boxed with hardware and instructions..

I have a 2021 Honda CR-V Hybrid EX-L. Installed hitch receiver looks great. Tried out my 1up bike rack and drove around for bit. No issues thus far. I had the hitch installed at a local muffler and welding shop that sells and installs Curt hitch receivers too. It took them about an hour after reading the instructions (didn't watch install videos). The only issue they had was putting back the plastic panel that attaches to the bumper. They were able to put it back on with some elbow grease. After I got home, I remember another post on etrailer that they had to cut the panel where the flange of the hitch receiver that protrudes through. I got my Dremel and cut off that section so now its no longer applying pressure to those clips. This will ensure it won't pop off while driving. There are no videos on how to install on a hybrid CR-V. Luckily, there is only one muffler that has to drop and every install instructions are the same after that with the exception of the plastic panel that only hybrids have. Overall, the hitch looks solid. Only time will tell on how long it will last. I don't plan on towing but it will definitely be used for a hitch rack for 1-2 bikes or a cargo carrier.

Perfect fit for 2021 honda cr-v ex-l,make sure you cut bumper before install or you will have problems trying to place hitch in place

1 - Hitch fit was perfect. 4 fish wires were necessary and useful. Would not have been easy with only 2 fish wires because they are not re-usable. The hitch looks great, the main bar totally hidden by the bumper! 2 - The B&W photos in the printed instructions are useless. I had to call to get the original color photo to see the detail. I suggest etrailer review all photos and edit them so that they are usable for sending to customers. 3 - The instructions should have mentioned that it is NOT possible to neatly unthread the fish wire from the bolt(s) after successfully placing the bolts in the car frame holes. In an attempt to be neat, I tried to un-thread the fish wire from each bolt and in so doing, dislodged (90 degree rotation) the rectangle backplate (washer) inside the frame. Re-positioning those washers was a royal pain in the neck and should never have happened. Instead, the instructions should have directed me to simply pull the fish wires straight down and off the bolt, destroying the coiled wire, instead of trying to neatly unthread the wire from the bolt. 4 - The instructions need to be updated to correct the bumper fascia cutout dimensions. Instead of 5/8" on the left, it should be more like 3/8". I had to whittle plastic after the hitch was in place because of this error. 5 - The instructions can be improved by directing to drill a small hole about 1/8" at the two corners of the fascia cutout. This would prevent tearing the plastic fascia as the car ages and also gives a target as you perform the cutting of the cut-out. (I went too far past my pencil lines, due to the lack of light and awkward position. The drilled hole in the corner would have prevented that.) 6 - Videos from eTrailer (and others) are essential, especially when doing the wiring, pulling off the plastic interior panels to reach the existing harness connector. 7 - Even with the very helpful 4 fish wires attached to the 4 bolts and hanging from the underside of the car frame, I still had to enlist my neighbor to help hold one side of the hitch as we lifted the hitch into position, guiding the 4 fish wires as we did so. I could not have done this task by myself! Other than that, it's a 1-person job, with the car resting on a 2" board, giving plenty of clearance to work. (I am 5-9, 150 pounds) The shortcomings of the printed instructions reduce my rating from a 5 to a 4.5.

Works great after owning it for a full year. I use it monthly for trips to Home Depot and such. I picked this one because only the actual receiver hangs down below the bumper, not the entire tube frame assembly. It was easy to install (self install), the hardest part was getting the muffler out of the way but it wasn’t too bad. All the other types of hitches I researched would leave the tube frame assembly showing and I did not want that. As you can see in the pictures, the hitch is barely noticeable on the back of my 2018 CRV. You do have to cut a small amount of plastic trim from the bumper cover, but that is easily accomplished with a sawzall. I also purchased the wiring kit designed for my CRV. Plug-and-play. That was very simple to install and easily stores in the spare tire compartment until it’s ready to use, I just close the tailgate on it and haven’t had any issues, it still looks brand new. I occasionally tow a small trailer with side-by-side on it which is just under the CRV rated 1500lbs towing capacity and it works great without issue. Definitely a good purchase if you need a hitch. My advice, buy a small torque wrench or torque wrench socket adapter to fit between the muffler and frame so you can properly torque the bolts so it is safely attached to the CRV. Hope this helps!

I just installed this hitch receiver on my 2018 Honda CR-V Touring. Shipment by etrailer.com and product by Curt were as advertised, installation as per online video uneventful and handsfree trailgate still works just fine. Overall I'm satisfied and would give it a 5-star rating, except being an engineer myself I'm not happy with the 1.50"x2.00" Round Hole Spacer provided, which is rather small and in my installation case (and placed for maximum surface contact) basically ends up with just three high pressure points on the hook (see photo). A somewhat larger spacer, like 2.00"x2.50", would allow for a much more even force distribution over the whole hook and also look more elegant. I'd be very happy to install a larger spacer if Curt/etrailer would provide me one ... THANK YOU!

Arrived in good shape and I installed it myself. Probably took me about 2-1/2 hours total, but I goof around a lot. The hardest thing for me was getting the mufflers off the rubber hangers, but the advice in the instructions about using a box wrench and pry bar is definitely the trick. I like the look of the receiver frame concealed behind the bumper. Five star!

Despite Honda having a hissy-fit about even mounting a trailer hitch on a 2021 Honda CR-V Hybrid....your hitch will fit. I understand you may not want to encourage putting hitches on this model, but it fits anyway - with a slight modification to the plastic underbody shield on the Hybrid model. Easy-peasy. Using it for a bike rack mount.

This hitch was for a 2018 Honda CRV. It fit exactly but the installation was a little difficult. The trailer hitch works flawlessly. I had a mechanic install the hitch. The video on installation helped tremendously. It would have been difficult without the video showing needed steps. Dropping down the exhaust system and cutting a small rectangular notch in the rear body allowed for final installation. The mechanic had the proper tools to complete the job.

Super fast shipping and a solid product! Great price too. Two minor issues with the installation: 1) There's an electrical connector fastened to the bumper structure on the driver's side that prevented the hitch from aligning correctly on the driver's side. Thought the hitch or the car was drilled wrong at first. Once I found and unclipped the connector from the bumper the hitch went in and lined up smoothly. 2) The rectangle you need to cut out of the fascia is too narrow, as noted by another reviewer. Cut another 3/8" out on each side to make for an easier install, and it looks just fine (you can't see it unless you're under the car anyways). Reviewing the provided installation videos is a must - goes on quickly by using them and the two tips above. Thanks for a great product!

The product was excellent and moderately difficult to install on a 2018 Honda CRV. The cutout diagram was very tight, should have followed the utube video and cut it ?” wider and 1/2” deeper into the bumper cover. It was a bit more difficult to open up the bumper cover with aviation snips but I sure wasn’t going to wrestle with those exhaust hangars again!

Buy this hitch! This is designed with a hide-away frame and looks great. Those who designed this hitch deserve commendation. It fit my 2017 CRV perfectly. I am an engineer, and every detail was carefully fabricated and thought out, including the technique for installing the frame bolts. Strong too. Can't beat etrailer's price. Shipping quick.

Great price. Even beat out other retailers on price. Customer service was in touch the entire order. Really the customer service is what really made this special. The product is great too and will let us carry all of our camping gear after having to downsize our car. Overall a great transaction. I will definitely purchase from etrailer in the future.

Its been a year and it has been working great. Only issue we have is it is a bit low and when using a cargo tray we drag a bit on our steep driveway. If we could go back I would have purchased one of the cargo trays that had a bit of a bump up for some more clearance.

Great product. Very well built and sturdGreat experience with you company. The only thing I might mention would be the installation video for my car was great except I struggled for a few minutes actually putting the hitch up to the bolts. We got one side started but at first couldn't figure out why the other side would not go high enough to go up to the frame and have the bolts drop through the hitch mounting holes. Finally after examining things closer it became apparent that along with be properly positioned on the proper side of the welded on vehicle tie down ring the whole hitch must be raised up and forward and then slid horizontally back allowing the tie down ring to slide partially into the receiver hole then the bolts on both sides dropped right in. Some people may not figure that out and claim they have the wrong hitch.y.

I was hesitant to buy this product on line without confirming that it was correct with etrailer. I called customer service and spoke with Odelia. She was very helpful, confirmed my part, and let me know that the part was not available that day but was planning to be in stock within a few days. We received the part a week earlier than we expected and the whole process was great.

Hitch looks factory. Paired it with wire harness. Also used a 4 pin wire mount so wires wouldn't dangle. Had a local mechanic install for about $100. Cost of materials and labor was a 1/3 of dealer cost.. I pull a light duty 10 ft aluminum trailer for weekend warrior projects. Works great for my 2019 Honda CR-V.

The Curt Hitch is really built very strong. I did not install it as I traded vehicles. I did view the installation videos and I am satisfied it would be fairly easy, being I am a retired mechanic. Everything I have purchased from etrailer has been quality products. Thanks.

Installed hitch on CR V Hybrid by following the 2020 CR V installation video with a couple of changes. The hybrid has single exhaust and has a hard plastic belly pan cover that covers the driver side muffler location. This makes it necessary to remove the cover until the hitch is bolted in place and torqued down. There are 5 push pins connecting it to the bumper facia,1 push pin in the center of the cover forward of the tie down loop, and 3 push pins on the front end of the cover for a total of 9 push pins and additionally 1 each 10mm bolt in the front driver side corner of the cover. I also trimmed the belly pan between the facial cover and the tie down loop 3 3/8 in. wide directly in front of the facial cut out. After the hitch was installed it was easy to slide the cover back into place. I had a little difficulty replacing the push pin just to the driver side of the tie down loop. All other push pins went right in. One thing I did was to measure the facial cut out by measuring from the centerline of the tie down loop. It made a professional looking installation.

Amazing customer service, they were able to switch out the incorrect hitch I purchased and create a new order with correct hitch. I saved on return fee by revising order and then shipping was quick. The product was easy to install after viewing the etrailer instructional videos. I also ordered the Swagman original 3 bike rack to go along with this hitch, all items where well constructed and easy to install. Also, purchased the key lock for the hitch, highly recommended. I am glad I found etrailer.com as I've purchased 4 different items and about to order pair of weather tech matts. Glad to know a company cares about their customers.

I am very impressed with the quality of the Curt hitch for my 2020 Honda CR-V. The workmanship is great, very good welds and powder coated. And the fit is perfect, no need to pry or hammer to get it to fit. The online video really made it easier to install. l used car ramps to make the install go easier. You can see in the photos that the hitch does not stick out past the bumper and if you plan to use this for a bike rack (as I do) the photo shows the clearance from the car so that you can determine how wide the bike rack needs to be to clear the car. In my photos the edge of the level is 2-7/8" from the center of the hitch pin hole. I also purchased the 60" tie down strap that attaches to the top of the rear door to secure the bike rack giving more confidence when carrying bikes. The bottom of the hitch is about 11-1/2" from the ground.

I install the trailer hitch on a Honda CR-V EX 2020 and looks great, it fit perfectly and had great instructions and also the videos are very helpful in completing the installation. I did the installation by myself and it took maybe 1.5 hours. I did it alone so that's why it took more time but when I cut I wanted to be as less invasive as possible and I think I was perfect.

Best hitch yet! I've purchased a few hitches from etrailer in the past, but this one is the best in design and price. Totally hidden, looks factory. And with the etrailer videos it make installation EASY. I did the install my self, I thought I would need a hand getting it in and holding it up. I used a large wire tie on the loop part of the hitch to hold it up and it worked like a charm. The etrailer for the videos, it not only makes it easy it also lets you know what you're in for before your purchase - thanks - much appreciated!

This was my second hitch receiver that I purchased/installed in the past few years and I am 100% satisfied customer. I will be installing another one on my daughters new Subaru soon so that she can use her bike rack. For the average mechanical minded owner, this is only way to go to avoid the high cost of dealer purchase/install quotes.

Great quality product! Great instructions and installation video. I installed the hitch in about 2 hours on my own with the back wheels of the car on risers. I would recommend doing it with with some help. Instructions were right on. The small plastic wiring harness connector discussed in the installation video created a minor problem (move it prior to installation) and I ended up needing to cut the facia opening about 0.10 inch wider (driver side) to get the fastener holes in the facia to line up more closely after installation. The recommended use of lubricant on the rubber exhaust hangers made getting them back on after the install much easier. It's going to be great to use the hitch for bike transport once I get the Thule Apex Swing attached!

  • Comparing the 2 Trailer Hitches for a 2018 Honda CR-V
The biggest difference between the Draw-Tite # 76128, Curt # C13397, and etrailer # e98848 trailer hitches for your 2018 Honda CR-V is that the Draw-Tite has a visible cross tube once installed while the Curt and etrailer have a "hidden" design where only the receiver is visible (see comparison photo). The Curt and etrailer hitches have the exact same design and will install the same way but I recommend going with the etrailer hitch over the Curt option because it has a matte black finish...

It should only take around an hour for this. If you'll be towing, you'll also need the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118741 and the etrailer Ball Mount Kit part # 989900.

  • Fascia Trimming Needed to Install Curt Trailer Hitch on 2019 Honda CR-V
There is going to be a bit of trimming to the fascia of your 2019 Honda CR-V to install the Curt Trailer Hitch # C13397. As you can see by the accompanying cut out of the linked installation manual it is a small section that needs to be trimmed. The fascia trimming is needed because it allows most of the hitch to be hidden, as shown in the photo of it installed on a CR-V. This hitch is a bolt-on installation that will not require drilling into your 2019 CR-V's frame; it is a Class III,...

  • Recommended 2-Inch Class III Hitch for 2017 Honda CR-V
We offer 2-inch Class III aftermarket trailer hitches that will be much better for using a hitch-mount bike rack on your 2017 Honda CR-V than the light-duty Class I hitch currently installed. Class III hitches have higher weight ratings and in general will offer better compatibility with the range of hitch-mount accessory items available today. Of the two options we can offer, Curt # C13397 and Draw-Tite # 76128, I suggest the Draw-Tite since it has both a lower price and a higher weight...

  • Best Trailer Hitch on 2018 CR-V for Carrying Mountain Bikes
Part # C13397 works for your 2018 Honda CR-V and offers a 2 inch receiver which helps you find a bike rack. Most bike racks come with a 2 inch receiver tube. The hitch and the bike rack will both be stronger as well. A good bike rack for mountain bikes is part # Y02443. This rack can hold two bikes and the weight capacity per bike is 60 pounds. This rack also is a wheel mount system so your frame will be protected from scratching. Most hanging bike racks could scratch your frame. This...

  • Where is Hands-Free Liftgate Sensor Moved to When Installing Curt Trailer Hitch on 2018 Honda CR-V
When installing Curt Trailer Hitch # C13397 on your 2018 Honda CR-V you will need to contact your Honda dealer and get part 08U59-TLA-100A. The dealer, or another mechanic, will need to install this and it will be located just next to the center of the hitch, in the bumper. I have sent you a link to the instructions I found online. The other option is to install Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 76128 so you would not have to relocate the liftgate sensor; the trade-off is that this hitch does...
