Will Trailer Hitch and Wiring for 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid Void Warranty

Does self-installation of wiring or hitches void manufacturer warranty or extended maintenance warranty for Honda CRV Sport L Hybrid 2026? I know the aftermarket parts aren’t covered by those warranties, but I don’t want to prevent coverage for future repairs on my new car.

Hey Jourden, congrats on the new car! This a great question but the short answer is that a hitch like the Curt # C13397 and trailer wiring like the part # C56370 will no void the warranty of your 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid. There's actually a law that protects you in situations like this called the Magnusson Moss Act which more or less states that unless you can prove an aftermarket part caused a problem for the vehicle you can't just void the warranty because one was installed. What are you planning on towing?

Have put three of theses wiring harnesses in three different CR Vs. Access behind the panel is tight but they are a perfect install and should cause no problem if you use the correct fuse.

I installed this wiring harness last fall in my 2025 CRV Hybrid Sport. Removing the panels was actually quite easy. When I didn’t see the female connector in the vehicle the first time around, I gave up and put it back together in just a couple of minutes. Then I looked at the video again and gave it another go. I found the harness and connected it without much difficulty at all. It works great. No issues. I’m pleased with the product and the ease of installation. I stow mine in the left rear pocket of the rear cargo space. I strapped the running length of the cable to the retaining straps of the fix- a-flat kit. That keeps it secure and taut where it needs to be. Works for me anyway.

My experience is that this hitch is a great hitch for my 2025 Honda CR-V Sport Touring SUV. I had no problems with the hitch itself, but I had substantial issues with the installer (Swinney's Automotive in Theodore, AL.). There installer said they had to make only a very minor alteration under my rear bumper to accommodate the hitch. However, Swinney's Automotive lied to me about their testing of the wiring harness that I purchased from Trailer at the same time. . They never installed the circuit fuse which was only discovered when I attempted to tow a motorcycle trailer for the first time. G-r-r-r-r. When not towing a light duty trailer, I plug in an additional LED Brake Light into the hitch receiver which "hopefully" serves to slightly reduce the risk of being rear ended. i hope this helps.

I installed a hitch harness in a 2022 Honda CRV Ex and it worked very well. The installation was quick as the most difficult part was removing the inside panels to reach the connecting port, that said, as soon as it was connected I tested the functionality and it worked perfectly. It is advisable to purchase a test connector when installing as it will promptly indicate if everyone this is in sync!
