This fully welded trailer hitch receiver bolts onto your vehicle's frame with no welding required. Powder coated steel is sturdy and corrosion resistant.Great quality and fantastic service!
Product is well made and functions as marketed. Straightforward installation process, followed instructions for torque specs on bolts. It does extend further back than the receiver I was replacing, uses factory mounting holes, just further back.
I have a stock full size (non z71) spare wheel and while it technically fits with this receiver, it rubs the brake line that crosses over the rear differential, as a result I'd recommend swapping that brake line with a braided stainless steel line or mounting the spare in the bed or trailer.
Not in original box from manufacturer. Box arrived extremely damaged. Hopefully everything is there. I’m sure the product will work fine.
I installed this hitch all by myself and I am 67 years old. I used a couple of ropes to help me (picture). I had to do some simple fitting like. Chamfering the sides of one of the lips (picture) to fit flush between 2 rivets.. I had to drill and tap a new hole for the ground wire. I also installed a new wire harness for the trailer lights. I had to drill and tap a new hole for the ground wire for that also. These are very simple tasks and I took my time to make sure everything was just right. I also had to make 2 trips to the hardware store for an 18mm socket. (Seems all socket sets jump from 17 to 19mm). Then I had to go back for a 6in. extension for my torque wrench. I actually enjoyed the project. Total time=several leisure hours.

Very happy with this hitch
This installation was on a '90 GMC 1/2 ton 4x4 with regular cab, and the short 6 1/2 ft bed. The pickup came with the z71 package and 265/75R16 tires from the factory. The first thing I did was drop the spare out of the way. The ground wire is in the way for any hitch install on my pickup so I removed the wire, extended it three inches and reinstalled it to the frame using an unused hole in the frame. It is a good idea to clean off the rust with some sandpaper before attaching the ground wire. The next thing I noticed was the hitch has a hole to clear a bolt on the passenger side, but the hole just barely clears the bolt and actually ends up resting on the flange of the bolt. There is no room to move the hitch over to miss the flange without it riding on a rivet on the driver's side. I did not like the hitch riding off the frame like that so I removed this bolt and ground one side of the flange off (see pics). Now the hitch sits flat on the frame. The next issue was the spare tire. I took a picture of the spare before mounting the hitch. After bolting the hitch in place I took a picture of it again. I did not like the tight fit of the 265 spare with this hitch. As you can see in the pictures the rubber brake line is rubbing on the tire. As the suspension moves, the spare and the brake line will rub. You could wrap the brake line in a rubber hose if you really wanted to keep a 265R16 spare under the bed, and that might protect the brake hose from damage, but I chose to replace the spare with a smaller tire. I went with a 225/75R16 for it's narrower width and smaller diameter. I also took a picture of this spare and now there is sufficient space around the brake line I feel. I could have even went with a slightly taller tire it looks like. I have heard of some people bending the brake line out of the way, but it wasn't the way I wanted to go. At first I was considering getting a hitch like the Draw-Tite 41525 for its spare tire clearance, but then I noticed a few exposed square tube hitches on the road and decided personally it wasn't the look I wanted on my pickup. So I started looking at concealed square tube hitches like this one and Draw-Tite's 41524. There are some good pictures of a 41524 install here on etrailer. If you look at those pictures, the square tubing rests as close as it can to the bumper, whereas on this Curt there is a gap of 1 to 1 1/4 inches between the bumper and the hitch (see my pics). I don't know if the difference is from different pickups or the hitches are different. I suspicion the 41524 is made to fit closer to the bumper giving you that extra inch or so of extra room for your spare. If you really wanted to stuff a tire as big as the 265 in front of your concealed square tube it looks to me like the 41524 may give you a slight advantage. Perhaps it would not be enough to avoid the brake line though. I'm not sure whether I would have needed to go down to a smaller tire with the 41524 hitch or not, but I wouldn't doubt that I still would have put a smaller tire on even with the slight advantage the 41524 gives. If I couldn't accept any spare tire conflicts with a hitch there were two hitches I was considering that may not interfere. These hitches do show the tubes below the bumper (I think) but they are round tubes which I personally think look better than the square tubes when exposed. The Reese multi-fit 37069 (5,000 lb rating) and 37034 (7,000 lb rating) are the two round tubes I was considering. With the 37034 the weld nuts must be removed for bigger 5/8 inch bolts, while the smaller version bolts right into the factory weld nuts. I would like to see a picture of these hitches installed but could not find any. Being multi-fit they are not specifically made for your Chevy, but fit Fords etc. The 37034 is a bit heavier than this Curt at 63 lbs vs 47. They do not appear to be available here at etrailer. If you wanted to try one you could probably call etrailer and have them order one for you. I know I did this with a tow hook they did not offer and etrailer was really good at finding this hook for me. I was deciding between these four hitches for my pickup. I wouldn't doubt that all four would have been good choices. I do like the Curt I got. It is the lightest weight of the four and has the highest weight rating. It looks good and is concealed very well up under the bumper. I only had to make one concession and that was in the spare tire department. I do think this Curt compromises spare tire space more than the other three mentioned but I found a way around that which works for me. I do not know if all Chevies are going to have the same dimensions as mine. Mine is different than most being a regular cab and going back a ways in years. The tools I used were:
13 mm socket (to remove the ground wire)
15 mm socket and wrench (to remove the bolt I shaved down)
18 mm socket (to remove the factory bolts out of the weld nuts)
19 mm socket (to install the new Curt bolts)
I actually bought a deep 19 just for this job as the Curt bolts are long and I felt I could get on them better with a deep socket.
Great price, fast shipping and arrived as described. I installed the hitch in 30 minutes, no need to remove the spare tire, while babysitting my 2 and 4 year old granddaughters. Too easy.

No issues after a year of use.
I am very pleased with the product. Installation was very straightforward, and I experienced zero issues.
The hitch cross bar is completely hidden on my 88 c1500, which was one of my reasons for replacing the hitch that was on the truck. Original one was rusty and looked pretty bad compared to the new one.
etrailer was great as they have been for other orders.
Everything went without a hitch! The ordering process was clear, the product shipped in days at a resonable rate, all of the hardware was included with simple instructions. Bolts lined up perfectly and I had it installed fully in less than 30 minutes by myself. The hitch also hides nicely underneath the bumper. Thanks
Great heavy duty receiver hitch, and installs like a dream--perfect hole alignment. I used a ratchet strap to support the main hitch cross bar to the bumper, and then could just lift the mounting arms easily and thread the bolts. Worked slick. Also, this hitch tucks under the bumper tight and is hardly visible.
Great product. Mounted right on my 96 gmc with no problems. Had to move a ground wire from the frame in order for the hitch to fit. Used a hydraulic floor jack to lift the hitch in place, then everything bolted in correctly. Took about 45 minutes since the two bolt I had to remove were very rusty. Will definitely buy from you again. Thanks
item C14081 Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Class IV from Etrailer 1995 Chevy Z-71 with 6'6" bed.
LT 265/R75 16 tires etrailer is a great company to do business with... always very detail and customer oriented.
This receiver is well made and easy to install after I moved the ground wires to an out of way spot. It's mostly hidden behind the bumper and looks real nice. No drilling and fits perfect. According to etrailer comments, the spare is supposed to fit back no problem. However.........
Getting it back up was a different story. I have the standard LT265/R75 16 tire for 1995 Z-71. The spare WILL NOT fit because the receiver extends 4" back into the tire space, leaving only 12" to the draw cable. A LT265/R75 16 has a 15.82" radius, so the cable is offset almost 4" and the spare just can't be raised straight up. I was able to force it 3/4 way up with a pry bar and would go no further. At that point it was only 1/4" from differential and severely bending the brake line, in addition to the draw cable issue.
I like and intend to keep the hitch, so that leaves two options. Go without a spare or replace with a 12"+/- radius tire. There are several available and I'm undecided what to do yet. Just know this might be an issue with your install if you have the same truck.

If the spare tire is 18 inches or smaller then it will fit however larger spare tires will not be able to be stored under the truck.
Curt hitch came quickly with free shipping. Clear directions and correct hardware. My truck is in the project phase so I have no bed or bumper to contend with but all the holes in the hitch lined up perfectly!
The hitch bolted up perfectly. I received it quickly and was able to install shortly after. The welds on it look great and nice e-coat so hopefully will keep rust away for many years. Fasteners look good. Great product.
Thank you much!
quick shipping. when i received it, i took off my old, rusted one and attempted to install the new one. the 2nd and 3rd holes didn't line up. i called etailer and talked to joanne and she helped me a great deal. she said it may have gotten flexed during shipping, i had my doubts. but i tried what she suggested and to my amazement, it worked. i thought i was going to have to send it back, so glad i didn't. thank you joanne, will deffinately use etrailer again, great customer service.
Perfect fit! I didn't even have to drop the spare tire as the instructions recommend. 15 minute install.
Shipping was fast, product quality was outstanding and installation was simple and straightforward. Highly recommend etrailer Curt hitches. They look like a factory accessory when installed!
Order the hitch and received very fast. Took less then 1 hour to put on in driveway with no special tools. Very happy with this.
Bolted in perfectly, came with all the hardware needed
This hitch is probably the best one for 88-98 OBS Chevy Trucks. It bolted right up in about 25 minutes. No modification of any kind required. Instructions were clear with good pictures to aid in placing the hardware correctly. Love the 10K tow rating and 1K tongue weight rating. Solid hitch. Money very well spent!

This hitch has been wonderful. It’s still shiny black and looks new.
Great service. Hitch was received on time. I highly recommend them.
I ordered a trailer hitch for a 1994 Chevrolet Silverado. The hitch arrived four days after placing the order. I was skeptical of the reviews that stated that less than an hour was needed to install the hitch. However I found those estimates to be true. The installation instructions were clear. All necessary hardware was provided. Great service and product.

I installed the hitch on a 1994 Chevrolet pickup that I use for farm work. The hitch was easy to install and I have experienced no problems with it when pulling a 16 cattle trailer. I would recommend it to anyone considering the purchase of a trailer hitch.
This is my second hitch purchase from etrailer.com. This install on my 4x4 Chevy K1500 was actually easier and faster than the first one on my Traverse- thanks to the open frame and added height of the truck. Start to finish I was done in about 40 minutes. The instructions were simple and to the point. If you cannot put a hitch on your vehicle after all the help etrailer.com provides, you really shouldn't be using tools in the first place!

John is easy for to install without going to a shop and it will be safe for me to move about
The hitch fit as described. Installation was easy. The only modification to the installation was relocation of the wiring harness ground screw. The original spare tire fit in its original location with plenty of clearance.
