Worked out ok. things were a bit different with this commercial C2500 Silverado. I did not have nuts welded inside frame. I also had bumper mounts welded on and covering the regular bumper mounting holes, so I had to drill through hitch and bumper mount steel and bolt.

@GwendolynY I have a 30' toy hauler that weighs 5400 dry and 860 tongue. With Honda Pioneer and water, I'm at about 7,000 lbs. I did a little overkill with the class V 2" but that's ok.

Searched for a hitch that would fit under my utility bed truck. This was the perfect match! Recommend getting help from 1 or 2 people to raise the unit into place but I was able to do it by myself using a floor jack and well positioned wood plank with jack stands as safety catches incase hitch slipped as it is awkwardly shaped and balanced. Will have to drill out my bumper bracket to mount the vertical hitch brackets but no big deal.

I needed a hitch that did not use the factory bumber for support because it was removed for a Tommy gate. This hitch is built and designed for strength and function. If I had to purchase it all over again I would have purchased the larger 2.5" reciever so I could have a larger selection on hitch inserts that can handle the weight capacity.

The hitch is good. Like other hitches, it does not stay as tight as I had hoped.

Because I have paired it with an air ride ball mount which moves the hitch ball back another 6” or so, I am planning to place shims along the inside of the receiver to reduce slack.

The heavier build of the Curt hitch (class V) provides greater safety and dependability than the OEM hitch it replaces. So overall, it is a good product and Etrailer provided good support during the buying process.

I have used etrailer.com several times to keep my rig on the road and turning profit. Customer service is as good as it gets with this company. The hitch I ordered was shipped immediately and on my doorstep on the third day. Again, can’t ask for better in this day and time. Quality of the hitch is excellent. Should hold up for many years and miles. The reason for four stars Instead of five is the hitch looks to have been handled roughly and had two small gouges in the finish on the visible side of the hitch. Not a huge deal since this is on a work truck that pulled every day but if it was a new truck it wouldn’t cut it for me. Overall very pleased with end result, as my original hitch had failed and I am back on the road.

  • Recommended Device to Remove the Excessive Play and Rattle Between 2-1/2" Receiver And Hitch
    I do have a solution to help you get rid of the excessive play that you have with your current Equal-i-zer shank as you are always going to have play in any receiver that you use. Excess play in the parts is required as the steel can expand and contract at different intervals and if corrosion develops inside the receiver you will still be able to remove the hitch. The Curt Anti-Rattle Hitch Clamp # C87UR is a no tool clamp that I recommend using on your 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD....

    I was able to run out to our warehouse and measure the projection of both the Draw-Tite DT45511 and Curt # C15460 trailer hitches you're asking about. I've attached some photos showing the dimensions I measured for you to check out! I measured from the rearmost mounting bolt hole to the opening of the hitch receiver as well as to the hitch pin hole.

    For your 2012 GMC 2500 HD, the 2-1/2 inch receiver is not a bad thing at all, but you would use a 2-1/2 inch ball mount or a 2-1/2 inch weight distribution shank with it to avoid the slack you mentioned from using a sleeve. The reducer sleeves do work fine for most applications, but for really heavy weights like your 10K trailer, I recommend getting the matching hitch or shank.
