The automotive-grade pads on these brakes offer lasting effectiveness. Both 10" x 2-1/4" assemblies have rust-resistant, e-coated backing plates. Fits 14" to 15" wheels.

Quick Tip: There's really not a whole lot to getting new drum brakes. If you've confirmed that all of the specs listed above line up with what you need for your trailer, you can be pretty sure these will work for you.
The pads on these trailer brakes are made of the same friction material that you might find on a car's drum brakes. In fact, the material is SAE-N certified. So, not only does it provide high-performance braking, but it's environmentally friendly, too! With these brakes, your trailer will be good to go on any road throughout the United States and Canada.
The superior quality of these pads is also due to the fact that they're bonded to the shoes, not just nailed down. Riveted brake pads will always give you a screeching reminder to replace your brake shoes. That's because the rivets will scrape against your drum as the friction material wears down. You won't have that noisy problem with bonded brake pads. You'll also get a little more friction pad contact because there aren't any cutouts for rivets. And more friction means more stopping power.
These pads are also tapered, which should help to prevent any broken, crumbly bits of material from rotating inside the drum as the pads wear over time. Brakes without these tapers are more likely to create a jarring braking experience that could cause the brakes to stutter and lock up.
The more miles you put on your trailer, the more your brake pads will wear down. As they lose contact with the drum, stopping distances get longer and longer. To keep your brakes working great, it's important to adjust them pretty routinely. For this job, grab a floor jack and either a brake adjustment tool (sold separately) or just a standard flathead screwdriver.
Jack up your trailer enough to get the wheel(s) off the ground. Remove the adjuster plugs from the backing plate on the brake, and insert the flat end of the tool through the back of the assembly.
Push in on the star gear and lift it up. Keep doing this until the brake pads catch on your drum. When you can't spin your wheel by hand anymore, back the gear off by about 10 clicks by pushing down on the star gear. Does the wheel now spin freely (even if it sounds like the brake pads drag slightly on the drum)? Great! Then you're all done with that one and ready to adjust the rest.
These brake assemblies meet the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. These brake assemblies underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. These brakes have also been tested by QAI for braking performance under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday tower.
After you get these brakes installed and adjusted, you'll need to break them in. First, find a long stretch of road or a big, empty parking lot. Once you're there, set your brake controller to its maximum setting and get moving. Speed up to about 40 mph and brake to slow to about 20 mph. Repeat this 15-30 times. The goal is to get the brake shoes and magnet properly seated into your drum. You'll know you've done that when it feels less jerky (and more consistent) each time you apply the brakes.
Note: The brakes will be very hot after doing this, so after every 10 stops you'll want to wait about 10 minutes to let the brakes cool off before continuing. If you don't, you might cook and crack the pad material.
Everything looks to be good. Only problem was that one unit appears to not been 100% assembled and luckily I found what I thought were missing parts way at the bottom of the box and I had to finish the assembly before I could install on the trailer. Now if you only had a way to take the old units off the axles, boy that would be great! Everything is so rusted, it's almost impossible to get the old units off without killing myself. As a last resort, I may have to take the new units apart and put the new parts onto the existing backing plates. Jim
The rating is for the packaging.Ilove etrailer. Products are good quality and customer service is great. What I cannot understand is why things that are heavy (drums) and throw into the box with electric brake assemblies that are basically loose in the box. This has been happening for years. It is basically the only negative remarks in all of the reviews. Why can't this be fixed? My box had two fully greased hubs. Both had their own box, they went into big box first. Then brake assemblies were placed on top of the drum boxes and cover with a small amount of paper. I feel the assemblies should be wrapped in the paper individually to protect them from damage. I now have one brake assembly with chipped brake shoes. I now have to wait longer to correct a problem that was easily avoidable. I'm sure etrailer will make it right. Packaging needs a brain storming meeting and donuts.
Excellent products delivered. Brakes and grease is good quality
Breanna, my salesperson was very informative on what exactly I needed for my 10 yrs old travel trailer. Any question I had she was prompt to answer it with clarity. I must say it was nice talking to a person I could understand with the English language. 5 Stars on that alone. I will be shopping with e-trailer again for all my trailer needs. Prices are reasonable too.

Thanks for taking the time to share all this with us, Damon. Breanna will be thrilled to see this. We are always happy to help when you need us next!
The assemblies were exactly what I needed. The shipping box seemed way to big and the got tossed around a bit. The bottom spring on one was missing altogether so I had to use one from the old assembly. I was surprised the new assemblies didn't come with nuts and lock washers. After an hour round trip to the hardware store, all is together andvworks as they should. Joy was extremely helpful identifying what I needed.
Packing was great with no loose or dislodged parts like reported in other reviews.
I did not like having to buy new mounting nuts and washers kit for proper installation, they should be included.
Installation was easy and brakes work great.
My mechanic said that some of the brakes had cone apart. So he put them back together. Also there were no nuts to attach the part to wheel.
It just made it easier to repair after a rear seal blew out... due to the previous owners...and had grease all over the brake assembly. 4 bolts and a 12v connector and I was done...thanks!!!
Easy swap of old worn out brakes, 4 bolts and heat shrink electrical connectors!
These brakes were a very good price. Installation was fairly easy, except that I had 2 studs free-spin during installation, which took a while to correct. If I ever have to remove them for service, I'll weld all of the studs in place from the back side so this can't happen again. I had to pick up a couple nuts as these brakes oddly do not come with them (7/16-20 grade 8 from Ace Hardware). Given the price, I think these are both minor issues. I'd seen other reviews complain about the packaging, I had no problems with that and they were in good condition when they arrived.
Perfect fit - Easy installation - Quick shipping and service from etrailer

Sounds like they fit like a glove!
The box was beat up and I had to adjust the breaks on the backing plate I mean take the keeper springs off and place the break shoes in the proper place and reinstall the keeper spring other wise they work as should
The parts visually appear to of good quality. InstLled everything a couple of weeks ago and all is performing well so far. I am impressed with the service and selection of products that Etrailer had to offer!
Easy to install work great feel much safer pulling my 5th wheel
They work great and the price was easy on the wallet.

It’s a great product, have no complaints and zero issues. Customer service is amazing best I’ve ever had the pleasure of talking too!!!! Amazing job!!!
We’ve found them adequate. They are the correct part, but one had come partly disassembled in shipping. We had to reassemble it (not easy) before we could install it.
The Electric Trailer Brake Kit worked as advertised. With two thousand miles on the trailer I have excellent braking control. I did readjust the brakes after a few hundred miles and this improved the smoothness and braking control while driving through Arkansas backcountry roads.

The kit continues to perform perfectly
Prompt delivery and packaging was first rate. Thks for using ups. Their service in my area is the best by far. Initial inspection of the brakes is very satisfactory. Haven’t install them yet so can’t comment on the installation or performance. Don’t anticipate any issues.

Hi Cary, I'm so happy your order arrived to you swiftly and safely! Feel free to let us know what you think whenever you get the chance to install.
Great product, easy install, fast shipp ing!
The brake assembly fit nicely and the drum fit like it was supposed to.
Everything fit good. No install problems. Would have been four stars if there were new mounting nuts with the parts. Had to reuse 20 year old parts.
My old trailer brakes were worn out and not operating smoothly on our dual axle 25' travel trailer. Replaced the brake assemblies and drums, repaired the wiring, and now they work perfectly. A few tips. On this dual axle system with 4 brakes, the total current draw should be about 13 amps total. I check it by pulling the breakaway pin (energizing all 4 brakes), and check the current draw with the trailer battery monitor. If it's substantially lower (10 amps or less), check for damaged wiring. Previously this trailer had the wiring routed through the axles and over time the insulation failed, intermittently shorting the wiring to the inside of the axle tube. The wiring was replaced and secured to the back side of the axles with no further problems.
As others have noted, the shoes shifted during shipping with the actuator arms coming off the backing plate. Using a screwdriver to pry the shoes at the top, I was able to reposition the arm easily.
Very easy to install just remember to check what side is what because I installed the left on the right at first.
Ship in great shape but might want to put tie straps on to keep the brake shoes form moving other than that the brakes an assembly is great shape
Fast shipping, all parts extra secured in shipping boxes, thanks again
