Replacement 3k Brakes for a Lippert Torsion Axle

Updated 09/02/2025 | Published 08/17/2025

Question:

I have a 2020 RPod 19 with a 3000 Lippert Torsion axle. Will the Dexter 3000 brakes fit this axle? Lippert doesn’t seem to have any brakes for a 3000 axle. I’m looking for a full kit with hubs.

Hey Roger, this is a really good question.

The brand of the electric brakes doesn't matter but what does is the size. Part # K23-472-473-00, Dexter Electric Trailer Brakes - 10" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 3,000 lbs, would work in drums that are 10 x 1-1/2". If your drums are the same size then 100% these will work!

If there is any sort of number on the drums I can usually cross reference that for you as well that way you don't have to try to measure the hub on the trailer. Just let me know in a comment below or you can reply to the email with any pictures.

Thanks Gwendolyn, I finally had a chance to get out to the trailer and measure the drum. It is a 10" x 2-1/4" There are numbers stamped/cast into the outer surface of the drum. Lippert 126003 180907 SZ5 I should have measured the spindle size but forgot. Does that information on the drum enough to determine the hub size? Thanks, Roger

@RogerH Thanks got getting back to me, Roger! That cast/stamp number helps a lot. With that number I was able to find out that you have a 3.5k spindle so you will be able to use part # TX97ZJ. Unsure if you are also wanting /needing to swap out the hub/drums but part# AKHD-545-35-K would be the way to go. It's a complete kit and its pre-greased so you don't have to pack any of the bearings or install them. Let me know what you think!
