  • Proportional braking - Smooth, safe, and good for your brakes long-term
  • Sleek little knob blends into your dash - The main unit mounts of sight beneath the dashboard
  • Simple controls - Use the knob to adjust the settings, activate manual override, and troubleshoot
  • Reverse battery protection - Keeps your electrical systems safe
  • Plug-and-play - Custom-fit wiring harness plugs right into your vehicle

Specs:

  • For trailers with up to 3 axles (6 brake assemblies)

  • Works with 12-volt vehicle electrical systems
  • Main unit dimensions: 2-1/2" long x 2-1/2" wide x 1-1/4" tall

    • Wiring harness: limited 1-year

Note: The main unit must be mounted horizontally level and parallel to the direction of travel within 20 degrees.

How to Use Tekonsha Voyager iD

Power output: To get more power output - the maximum amount of power that will be applied to your trailer's brakes - rotate the knob clockwise. To decrease the power output, rotate it counterclockwise.

Manual override: To engage manual override, simply press the knob. This will activate the trailer's brakes and brake lights independent of your tow vehicle, great for stopping sway or controlling your trailer's momentum in an emergency. The Voyager iD will reach the maximum set power in half a second.

How to Install Tekonsha Voyager iD

The Voyager comes in 2 pieces: the main unit and the control knob.

Tekonsha Voyager iD Installed

The control knob can be installed in any convenient spot that's easy for you to see and access. This can be a blank switch panel, an open spot on your center console, or wherever there's space on your dashboard. Before you do any drilling, be sure there's enough clearance behind the dash for the entire knob to install!

Once you've decided where you want to put the control knob, you'll need to find a good place to install the main unit. It needs to be horizontally level and parallel to the direction of travel within 20 degrees. A mounting kit with hardware is included.

Tekonsha Voyager iD Plug In Wiring Harness for Vehicle

This kit comes with a vehicle-specific wiring harness that plugs into the electric junction box beneath the dash of your vehicle. That means no hardwiring!

You will also need a circuit breaker kit to complete your installation:

  • 20-Amp circuit breaker (9506P - sold separately) for 1 or 2 axles
  • 30-Amp circuit breaker (38630 - sold separately) for 3 axles

Note: If you don't already have a 7-way plug at the back of your vehicle, take a look at our exclusive 7- and 4-way brake-control installation kit (ETBC7 - sold separately).

What is Proportional Braking?

What is proportional Braking

Proportional braking means that your trailer brakes mimic your tow vehicle's brakes. If you slam on the brakes in your vehicle, your trailer brakes will activate with the same intensity; if you brake lightly, your trailer brakes lightly too. The trailer's braking is in proportion to your vehicle's braking. This saves wear and tear on the tires and the brakes on both your vehicle and trailer.

The Voyager iD uses an internal inertia sensor to sense how your vehicle is braking so it can send the right amount of braking power to your trailer. It measures the inertia of your tow vehicle and activates the trailer's brakes to slow at the same rate. The result is uniform braking across your towing setup. No push-pull action - just smooth, proportional braking every time.

Video Transcript for Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 3025-P

Today on our 2002 Chevrolet Silverado we'll be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller, Part Number 90195. In addition to the P3 Brake Controller, we'll also be installing the Tekonsha Plug-in Wiring Adapter for electric brake controllers for GM vehicles, Part Number 3025-P. We're going to first begin by installing the Tekonsha Wiring Adapter. We're going to need to remove this cover right here. We're up underneath the driver's side near the pedals. We'll need to remove this cover on the fuse box here. Go ahead and remove this plastic nut.

When you look on the underside of the cover, we're looking for the trailer six-way plug. It's this one right here. We'll be taking the plug and plugging it in just like that. Go ahead and line it up and push it all the way in place making sure that the locking tab clicks down into position so it secures it. When we're done with that we can go ahead an put our cover back in place. Next we'll go ahead and take the other end of our wiring hose and we'll route it over to where we're going to mount our brake controller.

Use a couple of zip ties to help secure the wire. We're going to mount our brake controller over in this area. To do that, we're going to go ahead and use the metal bracket that comes with it. We're going to actually screw into this metal lip down here. We'll be using a couple of these screws here. We'll go ahead and drill a pilot hole.

Go ahead and take our screws and attach our metal bracket here to the underside of the dash. Next we're going to go ahead and take our wiring harness before we connect our brake controller. We're going to connect it to the back side. Want to make sure that the locking latch here is on the top. It'll catch right there on that little tab. Go ahead and line it up, and then we'll push it into place making sure it's secure.

We'll then go ahead and take these little machine screws. They'll thread in on each side of the brake controller and hold it to the bracket. We'll go ahead and take a few zip ties to help secure up any excess wiring. Now with our wires secure, we can go ahead and trim off any excess zip tie. Without your trailer connected, when you do the manual override on the underside, you'll notice that it says, "No trailer connected." We'll go ahead and plug in our tester, which will act like our trailer in this case. With our trailer plugged in, you'll see that we have a zero zero. Either by stepping on the brake pedal or in the manual override, our brake controller is working properly. Change the maximum output setting by the up-and-down arrow. As you can see, you can change the background, the color, the brightness, the contrast. There's multiple different functions of this brake controller than you can change. It also has different boost levels, as well as turning the boost feature off. The boost level is basically how aggressive you would like the trailer brakes to come on. The higher the boost setting, the more aggressive the trailer brakes will be applied. That'll do it for our installation of the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller, Part Number 90195, in conjunction with the Tekonsha Plug-in Wiring Adapter for electric brake controllers for GM vehicles, Part Number 3025-P, on our 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. .

Hey Marco, thanks for reaching out! To get all of the wiring and such on your 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe you'll need the following: - Curt Wiring Connector # C59236 - Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 - Tekonsha Voyager iD Brake Controller # TK26BR - Mounting Bracket # 18136 This gives you everything you need for wiring as well as a brake controller that takes up minimal space inside your Santa Fe. The correct brake controller install harness for installing the Prodigy P2 part # 90195 in your 2001 GMC Sierra 2500 is the part # 3025-P. This plugs right into the junction box under the dash of your truck. In the attached install video you'll see how this is done on a very similar 2002 Chevy Silverado. It sounds like there is an issue with the stop light switch connection on the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 in your 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD. The most common problem that causes this connection issue is a blown Center High Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL) fuse which is in the engine bay fuse block. • Troubleshooting Trailer Brake Wiring Issues on a 2002 Chevy Silverado
Thank you for being very detailed with your question! The first step I would take is to make sure everything on the truck and trailer is wired properly.
