Video Transcript for Let’s Check Out the Timken Replacement Trailer Wheel Bearing

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Timken replacement 1779 trailer wheel bearing. This is a high quality tapered roller bearing. And if you aren't familiar, Timken does have a great reputation in the industry for building very quality products. So this is gonna be a great option if you are needing to replace your bearing. Of course, it is very important that you get a bearing that is going to fit for you.

So you can see that we do have the industry standard number printed on the inner ring or the cone of the bearing. That's 1779. So you wanna look for that on the bearing that you are replacing. There are some other numbers that might be on there. If you see any of those numbers on that that you can see on the screen there, this will work for you.

It will work as a replacement for any of those bearing numbers. But you do wanna make sure you're getting the right bearing. So if you don't see any number on there, the only other way you can tell is by measuring your inner diameter here. And that is very precise. It goes down to a thousandth of an inch.

So you're gonna need to use some calipers or digital calipers to measure that to make sure you're getting the right bearing size. So the inner diameter of this one is .938 of an inch. So you want to make sure that you're getting that lined up. But of course, if you do have any of those vary numbers there, and that's gonna be the much easier way. And this is gonna be a very high quality option for you to replace that original bearing.

Make sure that everything's moving smoothly for you. So that completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.

    • What Bearings, Races, and Grease Seal do I Need to Replace My Timken 2785 and 1779 Bearings?
Hello Nathan, I had to get some of the parts added to the site, so my apologies for the delay in getting an answer. You will need one of each per hub: -Timken 2785 Tapered Roller Bearing Single Cone - Imperial - 1.75" ID for Axles & Hubs # TMK78ZR, with race # TMK88ZR (this might not pop up on our site til tomorrow 5/9 as it was just added) - Timken Replacement Trailer Wheel Bearing - 1779 # TMK94FR with cup/race # TMK66FR - Cotter Pin - 1/8" Thick x 1-3/4" Long # 165649 - For the...

    • Availability of Matching Bearing to Go with Race 1729
      The Timken Race 1729 part # TMK66FR is associated with the bearings 1751, 1755, 1774, 1775, 1778, 1779, and 1780. We have the 1779 bearing with the part number # TMK94FR.

    • Brake Assembly Needed For A Trailer With Timken 2788 And 1779 Bearings
Hey Matt, I believe you have a 1779 # TMK94FR instead of a 1799. That along with the 2788 # TMK74FR would both be fits for the discontinued 22834 trailer hub, which was rated for 5,200lbs. There unfortunately isn't a compatible hub and drum assembly to fit your spindle so you'd be looking at replacing the axle along with the hubs/drums in order to add brakes. If you want to replace the axle then you'll need to measure from the face of your current hub under the trailer over to the face...
