Excellent customer service and very fast shipping. Ordered on Monday evening and received the package Wednesday. These folks are great to do business with.

by:

Haven't installed yet, but order process, tracking were excellent.
Will certainly shop with you as need arises.

by:

Little details make the differenc!I bought this product for future (1 month) installation in an used van that I purchased. I received the product in a fantastically short period of time. I am very impressed with the quality of the workmanship and materials.

by:

Easy to install (two screws to mount it and two nuts for the wire connectors), well labeled for which wire goes where, and works well. Much nice than a fuse, and essential when protecting a trailer brake circuit!

by:

Works great. You definitely want to use this and not a fuse for a trailer brake controller. If an intermittent short blows a fuse, you will lose your trailer brakes. This circuit brakes auto resets so your trailer brakes won't be lost.

by:

Missing a nut on the breaker not a big deal but I have to drive to town to find a replacement

by:

Ordered two curt venturer brake controllers, after calling a local trailer shop that wanted $370-$400 dollars to install them I figured I'd do it myself. After watching videos from etrailer and youtube I installed one in my 2003 Ford Ranger and one in my wife's 2101 Town and Country. Everything was pretty much straight forward, just take your time and follow the video's. Very happy and saved hundred's by doing it myself. Here are some pictures of the two vehicles.

by:

I like the controller, easy install, easy set up, works very well. I put it on a tandem trailer 14000 GVW.

by:

As described

by:

Perfect connector for what I was looking for on my 2019 RAV4. I originally installed it with the L bracket, but later changed it to be flush in the bumper. Looks very clean. The prefab pigtail made install into the car very easy as well.

by:

Easy to install. Copper terminal goes to battery. FYI

by:

Ordered a brake controller and an inline circuit breaker. Very happy with both but not the shipping. I selected the least expensive (my bad) shipping because I didn't need it for a few days. I opted for the UPS/US Mail combination shipping, what ever that is. Product shipped same day as I ordered it (Feb 11th) with an expected delivery date of Feb. 15th. Finally showed up on the 20th. I ordered a hitch earlier and in 2 days I had it. A 49lb hitch vs. a pound (maybe) package. Not etrailers fault...but I can see why the post office is going broke with service like that!

by:

Bought several trailer products for our 2013 Explorer, Tekonsha trailer brake, trailer hitch & wiring materials. Excellent fit on the trailer hitch. Shipping timely & well packaged.

by:

Excellent quality and strength. Why skimp on something as important as your hitch? I have purchased three of these Draw Tites - I guess a repeat customer will scream about the true quality a company can garner from repeat customers. When you pull show cars worth six figures, you can't afford a poorly made hitch.
Step up, step out, and don't fret what you are pulling.

by:

Installed the Hopkins InSight brake controller in a 2015 Wrangler Unlimited. Installation was straightforward with no problems. The biggest plus with this unit is the ability to mount the "brain" out of sight and mount the display and the manual control in separate, convenient locations. Very nice. Also ordered a 20A breaker, extra wire and an extra harness connector (for another vehicle). All items arrived on time and well packaged. etrailer gets a big thumbs up!

by:

Just what the etrailer video showed to add a Tekonsha Primus IQ trailer brake controller to a Chevy Silverado. ( I could have used a bracket as well ). Super fast shipping!

  • Brake Controller Installation on 2008 Chevy Trailblazer
The orange wire found under the dash that would provide power to the brake controller is already circuit protected, so you would not need an additional circuit breaker like the # 9506P you referred to. The wiring connections would be made as follows: Orange tow pkg wire connects to black wire on controller Dark blue tow pkg wire connects to blue wire on controller Light blue tow pkg wire connects to the red controller wire Black tow pkg wire connects to the white brake controller wire The...

  • Can 2006 Ford F-350 with Integrated Brake Controller be Bypassed with Aftermarket
I spoke with my contact at Tekonsha and he stated that there are two ways that you can install an aftermarket brake controller in a 2006 Ford F-350 with an integrated brake controller. The first way is to hardwire in the controller. The white wire goes to the negative battery terminal, the black wire to the positive battery terminal via a 20 or 30 amp circuit breaker, # 9506P. The red wire connects to the circuit on the brake switch that shows a signal on a circuit tester like, # PTW2993,...

  • Installing a Brake Controller on 1997 Chevy Silverado with Existing 7-Way
Since you have the 7 way installed already, the install is pretty straightforward. The 12V lead and the brake output wire will be ran from the 7-way up to the engine compartment. The wires terminate under the brake master cylinder. To find them, follow the brake lines down from the master cylinder. The wires can be found bundled up near where the brake lines bend to pass under the cab. The orange wire would run to the the positive battery terminal via a 40-amp inline circuit breaker,...

  • Installing Brake Controller and 7-way Trailer Connector on 1991 GMC 1500
From your question, it sounds like there is two wires on the brake controller, plus a few on the 7-way trailer connector you are not sure about, is that correct? Take a look at our 4-pole to 7-way adapter, part # 37185. In addition to the lighting circuits, there are four additional wires. The white wire attaches to clean metal on the vehicle frame to provide a ground connection. The purple (or sometimes yellow) wire typically powers the reverse lights on the trailer (if it is so equipped)....

I recommend the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 2 Axles - Proportional Item # C51180. If the dealership is installing the 7 pole connector, this controller doesn't require any additional wires to be ran inside the vehicle. Your cell phone is used as the controller. This controller ties into the brake stoplight switch that's usually located above the brake pedal, which is what tells the controller that the vehicle brakes are being applied so the connection is purely electrical, not hydraulic or air actuated.
