The clean setup blends in like a factory switch and keeps everything out of the way. That single knob handles brake power adjustment, manual override, and LED status signals so you can fine-tune braking without cluttering your interior.
With proportional braking, your trailer reacts exactly how you brake—no push or jerk, just steady deceleration. An internal 3-axis accelerometer measures motion and matches braking force for trailers with up to 2 axles (4 brake assemblies). Whether your setup uses electric or electric-over-hydraulic brakes, it keeps everything balanced and smooth. The result is safer towing and less wear on tires and pads.
Hardwiring a brake controller can be a hassle, but here it’s plug-and-play. The included custom harness connects directly to the controller and vehicle port—no splicing needed. A universal mounting panel is also included for a clean finish. The main unit secures anywhere within reach of the 3' cable using screws, tape, or zip ties, making installation quick and tidy.
Getting set up is straightforward—just drive normally while braking about twenty times and the Tow-Pro Liberty learns its orientation automatically. You don’t even need a trailer connected for calibration. LED lights guide you through setup until it shows solid blue for ready status. After that, it stays calibrated on its own, quietly adjusting whenever needed without extra steps.
The Liberty isn’t just compact—it’s engineered for safety inside the cab. It meets or exceeds UNECE R21 and FMVSS 201 standards for crash safety and durability. It was just as easy to install as the video etrailer has on their webiste. All parts snapped into place and works as advertised.
I bought the Redarc tow pro Liberty for a 2021 Toyota. Only slight issue i did have was I the controller head module was a 1/16” too wide to fit into the factory pop out on the dash. Fortunately i used a Drexel to widen the inside tabs and it clipped in nicely. Looks just like it came with this unit from Toyota factory.
Highly recommmend.
The Redarc tow-pro liberty brake controller works perfectly. It was a good investment.

lots of research; etrailer's excellent videos led me to this unit for my 2017toyota tacoma. They left a part out (the cable from the dash controller to the brake control unit) & immediately rushed one out to me. arrived a day before scheduled. installation was a breeze, again due to excellent videos. Can't wait to tow a trailer to see if it lives up to it's billing!
Nice looking kit, hopping to get installed this weekend. The installation video is very helpful.

This is a very reliable brake controller. We have been very happy with its performance and the way it is installed to fit right into the dash. We would highly recommend this product.
Installed myself, pulled the trailer today and it works great! The lady that helped me was a 10 top to bottom. Very knowledgeable and a pleasure to speak with. You folks better hang on to her!
2017 Tacoma plug and play. Installation was more difficult than the video but I got it done. The video shows installation of the controller under the dash with an L bracket which is not included. I had to fabricate my own which took some time but made for a clean look. The control knob would not fit through the blank space on the lower left dash so I had to file it out to make it fit. Once completed it works great. I would recommend.
Appears to function as designed. Took road trip I can hardly feel the weight (1300 lbs) of our TearDrop behind us now. Before the install I could feel the added weight when braking. There is a noticeable difference after the install and gain adjustment. Would recommend. Viewed video on install then replicated exactly.
This product is perfect. It is totally plug and play for the Gen 3 Tundra SR model. Right behind the kick plate under the steering wheel.
My son helped me put in the Redarc controller in, it was an easy plug-in play. The only hard part was finding a suitable place to mount it under the dash so it would be stable. We found a steel brace that runs up to the steering wheel and mounted on that, it had to be a tight secure mount per instructions.
It was a little tight getting it in there, but once it was in, it was perfect. It was out of the out-of-the-way and hidden.
We only had one problem and it wasn’t with E trailer, the brake controller knob that goes into the dash, had a bent shaft and wasn’t working correctly.
I called E trailer and right away got help. I sent a picture and they evaluated it and sent me a brand new one and I sent the old one back so they could see what went wrong.
Otherwise, everything was great. The team at each trailer is hard to beat, great customer service, resolution and response.
I only wish I would’ve had taken more pictures, but in the moment we forgot.

Thanks for sharing all the details David! You and your son did a great job finding that steel brace and getting the brake controller tucked securely out of the way. That's one of my favorite things about the Redarc setup, once everything is installed, you really only see the control knob. I'm also glad our team was able to get that damaged knob taken care of quickly for you. Don't worry about forgetting the pictures, sometimes you're too busy getting the job done and admiring the work!

Relatively easy to install with the custom harness. Seems to work good.
Easy install, after a few practice runs pulling a trailer the system works great on the fly.
This was an easy install. I like that it all is plug and play. The control know looks very clean and like it came from the factory.
This brake controller was an easy install with mounting bracket,and wiring harness fit my 2018 Tacoma , really helps when pulling my 16 foot camper, highly recommend
Product arrived. Installation went OK as per YouTube. The Toyota factory harness end was pretty well hidden behind a large bunch of wires.
I was able to attach the unit securely at the recommended location with a small nut, washer, and bolt, and a zip tie at the top without the bracket that didn't come with the kit.
I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but expect it to operate as intended.
The kit had everything that was needed to install the unit. The You Tube Video was quite helpful. I did have to shave a little bit of plastic inside the bore of the mounting bezel to mount the knob. But that was a quick fix. The system worked well towing my camper on steep mountain grades, and on the highway. I am very satisfied with this unit.
I really appreciate etrailer selling this brake controller package, including harness for my 2023 Tacoma, and 3 different dash inserts for the controller knob. The controller was easy to install and works great. So clean and sleek looking with nothing to hit with my knees.
The installation was easy like 30-45 minutes from start to finish. The controller is working as expected, the unit itself needs to calibrate so you need to have a trailer connected and drive for a little bit. But as you drive is gonna calibre as how you brake. I really like the look of the knob so slim and integrated with the control switches. I have a 2021 Toyota Tacoma.
