Question:
Hi, Im looking at purchasing the redarc brake controller for my 2021 Tacoma with the tow package. Im confused on which one to buy from you - there is one that is more expensive, RED68CR, and there is one that is slightly less expensive RED72CR. Can you help me with which one to buy? I cant tell the difference between these products and whats included on your website. Thank you

Hey Lucas,
It looks like both the Redarc # RED72CR and # RED68CR are going to include the same wire harness # RED99FR, but the # RED72CR is also going to include some mounting panels to make mounting the control knob into your dash easier so I'd go with it over the # RED68CR.
I've attached a short video below Ryan made when he installed this brake controller in a 2023 model for some helpful tips on the installation process.

I have a 2021 Tacoma TRD 4x4 Off Road ordered with towing package. I was surprised that it has both 4 pin and 7 pin towing connectors but will not work the brakes on my trailer. Find out I need a controller and Toyota doesn’t make one or recommend one. In fact, no one at the dealer could tell me what I need to get the brakes to work. What controller do you recommend, and does my truck with its “factory incomplete towing package” have the proper wiring and wire size (awg) to work with plug and play harness used with the Redarc controller? What about fusing? Is the Toyota factory harness already fused properly for the aftermarket controller? A brief look at a Redarc electrical drawing called for a 30 A fuse on #2 wire to power the controller and brake lights. #2 is good for over100A. Must be an error. Do you have a video of this being installed on a 2021 Tacoma? I don’t have any spare button blanks in center of dash above shifter. Have spares to the left of steering wheel. Will harness of Redarc fit if button is mounted there? Yes I have been thinking a lot about this….Paul
