I use these on a Ford Escape when towing my 13' camper. I will admit it took me a few tries to make sure they were tight enough to stay on but I figured it out. I make a point to check the knobs whenever I stop on my travels. After being on the road for a while my eyes adjust to just using the towing mirrors. I don't really notice much, if any, vibration from them. Glad I made the purchase.

by:

These mirrors are absolutely fantastic. If I could give them 10 stars I would. I never have to do any adjustment unless I accidentally bumped one. I just loosen them pull them off and lay them in the backseat of the truck. Reinstalling is absolutely simple and they hold on perfectly. I highly recommend this product

Comments
Unbelievably absolutely fantastic. Even when I take them off and put them back on over and over and over they are always in adjustment unless I somehow bump them. It’s just so nice when you install them and get inside you know they are adjusted just the way you left them. Excellent product

Garbage, fell off first trip. Got replacement. Tighten down with wrench and fell off again.
Waste of money.
When one fell off, it punctured the trailer tire.
Most expensive one time use mirrors I have purchased.

Comments
I apologize that these mirrors have been giving you trouble. I have looked into these mirrors and found that because this has a universal design, these mirrors do require you checking them along your route at stops to ensure the clamps havent come too loose.

2016 Toyota 4Runner

Worked as advertised. Haven’t had any issue securing them. I make sure I double check when I stop, but worked great with my 2016 Toyota 4Runner Limited towing my 22ft travel trailer.

by:

mirrors work great
easy to install and
remove with no impact on our truck mirrors

no issues works fine

Mirror extensions. Very easy to put on. Fit like a glove and now I have great vision behind the trailer. Well worth the cost. Placed on Toyota Highlander 2018.

Comments
Only fair at best. One came off at freeway speed. The other needed a bungee cord to keep it from going out of position at freeway speed.

Better quality than I expected. Clamping system works well with my car (2011 Kia Soul). I can't say that it will work as well with other cars, gut if your mirrors have an overhang of about 1/2" above the mirror glass, then they should be fine. Make sure the car mirrors are adjusted before clamping these on as moving the mirrors after could compromise the clamp or damage the car mirror motors.

by:

Great product! Easy to put on and easy to adjust for my truck. I’ve been using them for a year and have never experienced any issues with them staying on and tight. Would definitely recommend for someone that wants towing mirrors that can install/deinstall easily. I am driving a full size truck and towing an 8’ wide camper.

by:

The mirrors had a tendency to fall off my Honda passport 2020. Now I use a wireless back up camera turned on all the time as a rear view device. I don’t use the mirrors any more

by:

I liked the product. It served the purpose. One of the 2 clamps broke and I lost one of the towing mirrors.

Comments
I have a different set of mirrors that I recommend. They are a custom mirror for the 2020 Chevy Colorado and slide on to the existing mirror, part # LV97RR

One mirror worked fine. The other plastic pieces could not be tightened enough and the mirror fell off. I ordered another to replace it. The clamps would not open wide enough to allow it to be attached to the mirror on the '21 Tahoe. The plastic pieces on the new one and the old one were not of the same thickness. The old one works. I use it. These need to be inspected after they are made to get consistency.

Comments
Usually when a mirror will not tighten, it is because it has been over-tightened before and the knob stripped. You can find a replacement knob assembly with item # CM11980C

For what they are I rate these as excellent. Nothing fancy by no means but gets the job done. 8'6" X 34' enclosed trailer behind a 2005 1 ton dually Chevy

by:

Yes I was very disappointed in this product. The mounting mechanics are not strong enough to secure the mirror extension to the existing mirror at highway speeds. The clamps seemed to be tightened sufficiently without crushing the factory mirror housing but turns out not to be the case. One of the mirrors fell off the vehicle while driving creating a hazard to other traffic.

Comments

These mirrors are an embarrassment. After cranking them down to the point of cracking the casing on the mirror these things didn’t even make THE FIRST HALF OF THE TRIP. In fact one fell off within the first 60 miles. The other held “strong” for another 100 before flying to its death (despite being checked for tightness at the gas stop between). Ultimately this was an incredible waste of money and the $xx.xx mirror extensions I bought at [auto shop] to get home have now outlasted these by almost 7000 miles. I wish I had photos to share, but if you want to recreate it for yourself follow these simple instructions
1) take $xxx and light it on fire
2) take 2 mirrors and throw them out the window of your car at 55mph and watch them explode on the street
3) leave this site and go by cheaper mirrors somewhere else and enjoy life again.

by:

Only one complaint, that was with the rubber clamp grommet on one of the mirrors. I’ve lost it 3 times but fortunately found it. Bought reserve grommets in case I can’t find a loss one. Otherwise, all else is great and deserves a a 4.96% star rating.

Comments
Generally quite well with one exception. The rubber grument behind the attachment paddle keeps coming off and can cause a mirror slippage. Had to glue the one piece on and order a replacement for the other. Otherwise the mirrors are outstanding!
James - 03/25/2022

by:

Look and build of the product is fine / as expected. Unfortunately, I no longer have these as they both fell off my mirror when on the highway (recovered one and it fell off a second time). Possibly something to do with the mount and mirror configurations, but I tightened down the feet as hard as I could without cracking the plastic on the mirror.

Despite that, they still fell off and broke on the highway. I CANNOT recommend this product.

Comments
I am sorry that the mirrors did not work for you. I do not know that we currently list towing mirrors that would be a fit for a 2020 Kia Telluride.
-- Etrailer Expert Jenny N - 09/22/2022

by:

They worked as designed for extra vision when towing. Check mounting fasteners often, I almost lost one on a trip.

by:

The towing mirrors are perfect there is no vibration did not have to adjust them at all after traveling 700 miles.

by:

For a clamp on mirror, they work well. Easy adjustment. I’m using these on a third generation Tacoma. I mounted the mirrors on the bottom of the factory mirror and had no problems with tightening them. Did test them up to 65 mph and had minimal movement of the mirror ( no bracket movement. Overall satisfied!

by:
2020 Ford Ranger

On the first trip with the mirror extensions I met 2 large semis in the oncoming lane. The turbulence from the trucks caused the drivers side mirror to release damaging the finish on the drivers door and denting the drivers side rear passenger door! The mirror was as tight as I dared clamp it without damaging the factory mirror! Incidentally, my 2020 Ford Ranger only had 975 actual miles on it! Absolutely garbage product!!

by:

I have recommended these to friends and other campers. Easy tp put on and adjust.
The only problem I had was they had a tendency to slip if i didn't keep checking the clamps at stops

by:
Toyota 4Runner

When I picked up our Yamaha boat with our 4Runner, I could not see to change lanes on the way home. Never knew mirror extensions existed until a quick search online. Decided it was cheaper than a new truck with tow mirrors and I’m glad I bought these. I was hesitant at first, thinking they’d look tacky, but I mounted mine on the bottom of the mirror and they aren’t bad looking. They extend out plenty allowing me to see to back up and change lanes while driving. And they are extremely adjustable. And they can be removed in seconds when not needed. Do your homework before purchasing like I did, that way you’ll know if you over tighten the mounting screws you can potentially break the bracket. Knowing this, I just snug mine down with a reasonable amount of effort, and they stay put. Whoever designed these, thank you for creating a solution to what could have been a very expensive alternative had we purchased another vehicle with tow mirrors.

by:

These mirrors have been fitted to a 2014 VW Tiguan, pulling a Taxa Cricket trailer. I have had to modify the rubber pads on the mirror clamp by cutting each pad almost in half (see photo) to accommodate the car mirror design (see photo). I will glue the pads to the clamp to keep them from getting lost. The mirrors will do the job for which they were purchased. I have not yet driven at speed, but I do not anticipate any problems. The mirrors are securely attached.

by:
2015 Toyota Tacoma

They work great on my 2015 Toyota Tacom a.

by:
2019 Dodge Ram Pickup

I purchased a Cipa universal bar towing mirror kit to use on my 2019 Ram 1500. My truck has factory towing mirrors, but on the passenger side I could not see all the way to the back of my 24’ enclosed trailer. The mirrors fit even with the factory mirror flipped up. They vibrate a little, but not a giant issue.

  • Will the CIPA Universal Fit Towing Mirror # CM11980 Fit a 2002 Ford Explorer
The CIPA Universal Fit Towing Mirror # CM11980 is a universal tow mirror. We haven't had a chance to test fit it on a 2002 Ford Explorer as of yet, but I see no reason why they wouldn't fit. We have confirmed that this mirror fits over 100 different vehicles, 4 of which have been different model year Explorers (see linked videos). They will not affect any of the functions of your stock mirrors. If you were wanting to order 2 of them then we have those listed as part # CM11980-2.
