Question:

How thick is the bottom part of the clamp that holds the extension mirror to the existing mirror housing. There is not much room between my mirror and its housing on my 2017 Nissan Frontier SV. I just want to be certain the clamp will slide in far enough to catch.

Hey Steve. The clamp that inserts inside the mirror housing is 1/16" thick on the CIPA Universal Towing Mirrors item # CM11980-2. These mirrors are universal but they have been confirmed to fit your 2017 Nissan Frontier SV by the manufacturer.

The clamps on the Universal Towing Mirrors item # CM11980-2 will secure them to your Frontier's rear view mirrors. They're padded so you won't have to worry about them scratching anything or coming lose.

What kind of trailer do you tow?

The mirrors work great on my 2024 Toyota 4Runner. My mirrors barely have any gap also but, when the bolts are lose, they slip in. Be sure to add the small rubber material to them so they grab your mirror housing well, and tighten them till you can’t turn the bolts with your fingers. Drive a little and tighten them again. Roger

These mirrors worked just fine on my Acura MDX. I worried about the thickness too when I ordered, because it did not look like much room available to me as well. At the end they fit fine, and I could still adjust the car's mirrors any way I wanted. Overall, I am pretty happy with these extension mirrors.
