Best Towing Mirrors For Towing A Wide Trailer With A Jeep Gladiator

Updated 10/23/2026 | Published 10/21/2026

Question:

I drive a Jeep Gladiator that is 73.8 wide and I tow a Thrive 18FBS travel trailer that is 96 wide. I am currently using a clip on extender on my mirrors and theyre not wide enough they add approximately 3-4. Might you have a suggestion?

Hi John!

Sorry to hear those Snap & Zap mirrors aren't doing enough for you. If those aren't proving to be wide enough for your set up, which would make sense with how wide your Thrive 18FBS is, you are going to want to check out the following part:

CIPA Universal Towing Mirrors - Clamp On - Qty 2 # CM11980-2

These can be attached to any factory mirror and they can stretch out 17-1/2" when fully extended. The mirror face is also slightly larger than those on your current mirrors (7-1/2" wide x 4-5/8" tall vs 6-3/4" tall x 3-7/8" wide) and will give you a much better view than what you are currently getting.

Where are typically towing your Thrive travel trailer?

@JohnF I have been using those mirrors now for over 3 years. They work great! Just tighten them as tight as you can with your fingers, drive a little bit, stop and make sure they stayed as tight as the first time, and you’re good to go.

I'm pulling a heartland pioneer 21 ft trailer with my Ford ranger. The extended mirrors clamp onto existing factory mirrors and provide excellent viewing both sides of the trailer which is 8 ft. Wide and the mirrors are fully extended. Make sure you clamp them on tight, I failed to check mine often and lost one in transit on the passenger side. Will be buying one replacement. Hope this information is helpful, good luck ??

I bought these and liked them very much. Well, until after I lost one, I replaced it, then lost another. If you don't get them on just so, getting them 100% correct, then check and recheck them often; you will eventually lose at least one. They require too much adjusting and attention. I ended up getting ones with straps.
