Recommended Snow Chains for 2012 Toyota Highlander
Question:
Hi guys. We just bought a cabin in Eagle River, WI that has a significant steep driveway down to the cabin. We have the driveway plowed but Ive had some slipping on the driveway that makes me nervous to drive down in the winter now. Im interested in these chains, but want to confirm a) is the max speed 30 MPH with these, b) what brand/size do you recommend, and c) with the AWD, do 2 on the front do the job, or would 4 help. Thanks

I took a look at the owner's manual of your 2012 Toyota Highlander and it said that any snow chains need to be placed on the front wheels. The Glacier Cable Chains # PW2029C are not going to be the most effective solution for you, cables are more of a single-use item and you will need something that will be more effective and last longer.
I recommend the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC2324 which, if you have the standard 245/55-19 tires on your Highlander, will be a fit as chains will fit certain sized tires so you'll need to be sure of your tire size. These chains are square links that are in a diamond pattern to give you traction and stopping power on both snow and ice and have a max speed rating of 30 mph. These chains will also not require the purchase of separate adjusters as they come with integrated tensioners allowing for a tight fit.
I've added a link to a video review of these chains for you to take a look at.
