CU9 Pedal and Quick-Release Buttons

Konig's Easy Fit snow chains are supremely simple to use. No more crawling around on the cold ground or getting wet and dirty on the side of the road. Just drape the chain around your tire and step on the pedal on the front, center bar until it clicks in place at the bottom. No need to reach around your tires to connect chain sections. No need to drive forward or back to center chains.

To remove the Easy Fit chains, simply press the red buttons at the middle and at the bottom of the center element to release the tension, and then unwrap the chain from around the tire.

Konig snow chains are handmade in Italy of hardened manganese nickel alloy steel for ultimate durability. The dual-sided, 10-mm-diameter, D-shape links provide superior traction for excellent grip on snow and ice. The center tensioning element on each Easy Fit chain is made of rustproof aluminum for lasting effectiveness. Anti-scratch nylon bumpers on the chain and soft-touch fabric on the center bar protect your vehicle's rims.

Included with each pair of chains is a sturdy, nylon container that unfolds into a kneeling mat. Mounting instructions are printed on the inside of the storage bag, making them easily visible every time you install the chains. Konig's Easy Fit tire snow chains are backed by a 5-year warranty.

How to Install the Easy Fit SUV Snow Chain

CU9 Installation

  1. Open the rigid arch section of the chain and pull the sides apart.
  2. Drape the chain over the top of the tire and tug down to fit it all the way around the bottom.
  3. Swing the pedal out and step on it, pushing it down the track of the center bar until it clicks in place at the bottom.
  4. Flip the pedal up into the travel position to lock in place.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chains, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates the width
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

Video Transcript for Konig Self-Tensioning Low-Pro Snow Tire Chains Installation - 2018 Toyota RAV4

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Toyota RAV-4, we're gonna be doing a test fit on the Konik self tensioning low pro snow tire chains, part number TH04115245. And that's on tire size 225-65-R17. These Konik snow tire chains are some of the easiest to install. They simply set in place on your tire, there are no manual connection points. The self-tensioning design allows them to stay in place and centered on your tire at all times. Most chains feature a ladder pattern design; these have a diamond pattern, which means they're gonna offer you more tire coverage, which means more traction.

The small link design is gonna give you the bite you need when driving through snow and ice, and since they're small, they're also gonna offer you a smoother ride than chains that have larger links. They have a low-profile design, so they're gonna work great with vehicles with limited wheel well clearance so they won't come in contact with anything behind the tire. They're also gonna be compatible with anti-lock brakes. They have a maximum speed rating of 35 miles per hour and they come in a quantity of two. Also included is a bag so you can stow them when not in use.

It doubles as an instruction manual and a kneeling pad.To get started, we're gonna be putting these on the front tires of our RAV-4. It is all-wheel-drive, but it's mostly driven by the front axle. It is a good idea to look over your chains, make sure they're not damaged, no kinks, twists, or any tangles in them. Now we can prepare them for installation. What we wanna do is we wanna make sure the two red tabs at the bottom are pushed in.

The one here we will pull out, and then we can stretch out our cable. With them loosened up, we can then drape them over our tire. We wanna make sure that that diamond pattern is in the center of our tread. We'll work our way around the sides of the tire. We wanna make sure the cable goes around the back side of our tire on both sides.Once they're in place, the only thing left to do is to pull down the step and push it down until it snaps in place.

We'll pull it back up, and then as we drive, the rest of the cable is gonna snug up and it'll be a nice, tight fit. Just like that. When you're all done, they're easy to remove. Simply pull out the red tab here, squeeze on the two on the bottom, and then we can take them off. And that's gonna complete our test fit on the Konik self tensioning low pro snow tire chains, part number TH04115245 on our 2018 Toyota RAV-4.

This is a great set of snow chains. It took me less than five minutes to install them the first time. The next time it took only about two to three minutes. Easy to install and remove. Great bag with instructions. Couldn't have made it any easier unless you had someone else doing it for you. 324639

Haven't put the product on the car yet (no snow)... but ordered these for the wife for ease of install in case. (Oregon is a carry traction state, so some passes will require them in the vehicle). The chains themselves are in good shape - the box was a bit beat up, but wasn't bad enough to affect the chains (that were in the carry case inside the box). Will update after some use - positive or negative. etrailer itself was great! 461260

Very pleased with the service! I placed my order on line. I did not know, but it did not go through. Krystal called me the next day(Saturday), to let me know. She also placed the order for me and had a co worker check on Sunday to make sure it went through. I bought some Thule quick install tire chains. Very pleased with the product. It was just as they said. Their Web site was easy to navigate. Shipping was very quick, just as they said it would. 451036

Nice place to do business with. The item I ordered was out of stock, but Pat kept me informed as to what was happening often. Haven't had a chance to try putting them on yet, I can't comment on that yet. Would recommend this company. 172646

We've had really mild Winters, so the chains were thankfully not needed...yet. The peace of mind my husband and I felt, having them in the boot of the car, definitely helped. Both of us watched the helpful video on how to put the chains on our 2016 Toyota Venza. The video really boosted our confidence pre-road-trip. Thank you very much! 584420

I just received them and they look very good However I'm hoping I never need to use them. Our driveway is iver a mile long up hill all the way. We get it plowed and I've been able to get up so far but there maybe occasions where these chains will be necessary and I need easy on and off chains so that is why I purchased these particular chains. They are expensive but worth it 162631

Mad Props to Caleb H for saving the day! He made sure my EZ-install Thule chains arrived in time to get me and my boo safely to a romantic, snowbound location this Valentine's Day. Chains are key in the Redwoods because Winter means twisty roads, slippy conditions, and CHP Chain Checkpoints. Snow chains = snow love! 175027

Exceptional product. Use same set on 2015 Land River and 2016 Toyota Tacoma. We drive from Portland to Timberline on most weekends to ski during winter season. Easy to put on and take off. Provides excellent traction; have experienced no issues. We put them on so quickly that others around us are clearly wondering how we do so. LOL....worth the investment would not do it any other way. 326874

Review from a similar Konig Easy Fit in Tire Chains

FANTASTIC! I'm an "old guy" with arthritis so when I got my Ford F-150 stuck (for the first time in 20 years) I was concerned. I have two sets of heavy duty "ladder" chains, which I only used once and am no longer agile or flexible (or young enough) to wrestle with. So after sliding off an icy road and getting stuck for several hours; I researched various different chains that I could easily manage and could save me a day of trouble. etrailer.com was great, discussed my options with me, understood my concerns, made a range of recommendations and offered a great price. These are certainly not the cheapest chains out there but I think they are the best, especially if you are somewhat physically challenged. Sure the price caused me to hesitate but when I consider what I just went through and my needs these were the best choice. As one reviewer said, "hope I never have to use them". I agree AND I now have something I can use to help me if I ever get stuck again. They are magnificent, engineered to work well and last. They have the best chain pattern and materials on the market, are lightweight and above all else incredibly easy to put on / take off. I did as suggested and put them on for a trial run, they work as promised, amazingly well. I am delighted with my decision and hope I never have to use them but living in the Rocky Mountains one has to be prepared and now I feel confident I can manage just about anything that happens. 599506

Review from a similar Konig Easy Fit in Tire Chains

These chains are truly magical! On our first trip up to the mountains, the snow started suddenly coming down on us before the CHP could even get out there to set up chain controls. Traffic slowed unexpectedly to a stop, and our tires began to spin. We were stuck in the middle of the road. Out we popped, put on our chains, and about 3 minutes later we were (easily) moving past all the other people putting on their chains. We were literally alone on the road while everyone else got their chains on. They were that fast! Because of the weather conditions, we actually had to take them off and then put them back on two additional times on that drive, which would have been really miserable with any other chains. I do have a couple things to be aware of: 1) You need to line the tires up perfectly in order to get them off, so it helps to have a second person to tell you when to stop. 2) During one of our installations, as we started to drive off we heard an odd sound. I got out to check and one of the tensioners had come undone, because a clip had come off of it. I was able to find the clip and get it back on, and we didn't have any further trouble - however we later inspected all the clips and saw that that one (as well as one other) did not look quite right. Worried that we would run into trouble on another trip, I called etrailer.com first - they directed me to call the company. I did, and the company was so helpful! I had taken photos of the broken chain and they quickly approved my warranty claim based on those photos and sent me a new set, in time for our next trip! We are now always careful to put the chains on, drive a few feet (so that they tighten) and then make sure they are on securely. I still give them 5 stars - they are fantastic chains. 453388

Due to the lack of snow in our area, I have only used them one other time so far. But I’m still really glad we have them and everything in my review I still agree with.

The Konig Self-Tensioning, Low-Pro Snow Tire Chains are just the right combination of ease of installation and effectiveness against the inclement weather here in the mountains of Oregon. Their low profile work well with the air suspension of my Range Rover Sport. I couldn't be happier with the product or the service at etrailer.com. The staff kept me up to date with my order and offered an alternative product since my selection was on backorder. I will definitely consider order from them again. 720338

The chains come in a flat carrying case with pictures for instructions. On my first attempt in the garage it took me approximately 2 minutes to install the chains. Unfortunately I won't get to try them in winter weather road conditions for another 10 months. The 4 stars are for the carrying case, instructions that are labeled on the case, and for first time ease of installation. 606396

Review from a similar Konig Easy Fit in Tire Chains

Outstanding product and price. I was able to put these on the tires in what was likely about 1.5 minutes per tire! My wife and daughter can install these without any trouble, which was a main point in purchasing the Konig easy fit, self tensioning system. Not as heavy as the chains on my 4wd vehicles, but for my Mazda CX9 with not a lot of room in the fender well, these are among the few options out there that are made of real chain, and not a cable. These chains are available elsewhere online at about $120 more than I paid at etrailer, and they showed up within a few days of ordering. I added my own kneeling pad and leather gloves to the bag that contains the chains. 599266

  • Tire Chains Recommended for 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon with 2256R17 Tires
  • I was able to find an online edition of the owner's manual for the 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon. On page 8-12 it indicates that tire chains are not recommended due to limited clearance within the wheel wells. It further states that if traction devices are used they must be the S-Class type which are low-profile in design and more compatible with passenger vehicles that have limited wheel well clearance. Subaru says chains can be used on the front tires only. In reality, some municipalities...

Also, when your 2017 BMW X3's manual states that you need "fine link" chains it means there isn't a lot of clearance between the tires and any parts of the vehicle so you need to use chains that are designed for this. Chains are given a Class to designate how much clearance is required for them to be installed. Since your manual specifically states to use "fine link" I recommend...

  • Tire Chain Recommendation for 2016.5. Mazda CX-5 AWD with Tire Size 225/65R17
  • The owners manual of a vehicle is the best source for tire chain fit instructions for your 2016 Mazda CX-5. I was able to pull up the owners manual of your vehicle and found that they offer general tips for using tire chains like be sure not to exceed 30 mph and to drive carefully, but they do not recommend specific axles to use the chains on. So ideally you run them on all 4 tires as that will give you the best traction all around. The best set we have for your tire size of 225/65R17...

  • Tire Chains for a 2012 BMW X3 with 245/50-18 Tires
  • You will use tire chains on the rear tires only of your 2012 BMW X3 (consult the owner's manual to confirm). Even though the manual does not specify that you have to use Class S chains I still recommend using them because they require minimal clearance. The Class S chains we have for your 245/50-18 tires are the Thule Low-Pro chains # TH04115245 and the Pewag Snox, # PWSXV580. Between these 2 I recommend the Thule chains because nothing installs faster or easier. If you don't want...

  • Compatibility of LT vs P Tire Chain Sizing On a 1993 GMC Jimmy S15
  • Good news, I can help you with your tire chain inquiry. The LT and P designations are important when selecting tires, because not all tires are equal, but not when selecting tire chains. The # PW1042 cables are a listed fit for your tire size, and are S Class compatible which means that they work well with low tire clearance. If you go with these chains I would highly recommend the # PW105 multi-arm adjusters. These adjusters will continue to perform even if one of the arms is compromised,...
