Question:

I’m looking for chains for my 2020 Lexus RX350 F Sport which has 235/55-20 wheels. I live in the Sierra foothills where we have occasional snow/ice on our steep and winding roads. My Lexus owners manual says chains are okay. Recommended dimensions for side links are 3 mm thick, 11mm wide and 25mm in length. The recommended cross chain dimensions are 4mm thick, 14mm wide and 25mm in length. Your sizing guide shows that both the Konig XG12 Pro-255 and the Konig Low Pro size 255 will fit, and I’m wondering if the low profile is necessary for my tire size and application.

The Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains part # TH2004705255 and Konig Self-Tensioning, Low-Pro Snow Tire Chains part # TH04115255 are both great options for a 2020 Lexus RX 350 with 235/55-20 tires. The Konig Self-Tensioning require 12mm of clearance and the Konig Self-Tensioning Low-Pro only require 10mm of clearance.

As noted, this is larger than the suggested 3mm/4mm thickness listed in the owner's manual but these figures are rather unrealistic for tires chains as none will meet these requirements. The Konig Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains part # TH02230K77 were developed with this in mind as they don't require any internal clearance so that is what I must recommend but I am sure you would be just fine with the Konig Self-Tensioning, Low-Pro Snow Tire Chains so long as you check for clearance after installation.
