Installation Step 1

1. Spread the chain around the back of the tire.

Installation Step 2

2. Connect the yellow and blue cable at the back of the tire.

Installation Step 3

3. Push the cable into place behind the tire and center the cross chains on the tire's tread. Then, on the front side of the tire, join the 2 ends of the yellow side chain using the green hook.

Installation Step 4

4. Feed the silver draw chain with the rubber tensioner through the red channel at the bottom and pull it tight. Then run the tensioner through the red rings. (Note: Depending on your tire size, you might not be able to thread through both rings.) Pull the tensioner across the tire and fasten it to the yellow chain on the opposite side.

Installation Step 5

5. Pull your vehicle forward and retighten the chain.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

This is a tough review to make, because they only lasted one year. I used to have a pair of old style chains for about 10 years that I inherited, age untold. They got stolen so I decided to give these a try and absolutely loved them. You can put them on in about 2 minutes while wearing gloves. I beat the absolute he** out of them. I put them on to get into a steep 1/4 mile driveway every day and often used them on the road. One of them eventually broke beyond repair, but like I said I absolutely beat them. Overall they saved me so much time and headache and money in tow trucks, and ultimately allowed me to get to rural customer's houses to fix their plumbing. I have bought another pair, and would recommend them to anyone.

Arrived 2 days early. I put them on my Promaster campervan and was able drive up my ice covered driveway easily from a standing start with no wheel spinning. If I was planning on lots of winter driving I would install snow tires. But this is an excellent alternative for occasional use in bad weather. They took about 1/2 hour to install, I expect to get faster with practice.

1995 Ford Van

The chains fit my 225/75-R16 light truck tires perfectly and clear the wheel well (1995 motor home on Ford E350 chassis). They go on the outside of my dual rears. The gap between the tires is small, and it took some effort to feed the chain through at the bottom. Since I carry blocks for leveling anyway, I plan to drive the inner rears onto 2x6s to lift the outer tires off the ground, or at least make it easier to install and straighten out the chains. I have not had a chance to test-drive the chains yet.

2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I used this product the day after they arrive promptly from etrailer. These chains were easy to install, even when my 2017 Promaster 1500 was already stuck in the mud with a 3/4 ton load in the cargo bay. Following the installation, I was able to gain traction immediately and continue down the saturated, unpaved road grade to the job site without further incident. I've driven only 4WD trucks for years to avoid such incidents and was happy to gain some off- road confidence in a 2WD van with the help of these chains. Looking forward to trying them out in the snow.

These chains are great! The major benefit of these is that you can install them without moving the car. This can be a lifesaver if you are stuck in the snow and can't move the car to roll over traditional chains. I love these chains so much. I'm such a fan of these chains that I actually bought a second set as a backup/spare.

I recently went winter camping and used my new chains. The chains added at least twice the traction to my mud and snow tires by themselves.

Love them. Used them last winter during a substantial ice and snow storm. Worked perfectly.

Review from a similar Diamond Alloy in Tire Chains

These chains were amazing! I was a bit hesitant to go with chains over cables due to the car's manual saying to use cables, but after talking to Bob at etrailer, and watching the install videos, I went with them (on all four tires) and am glad I did! We went up to Yosemite for the New Year, and it snowed the day we drove in. We got through the gate into the park without needing chains, but once inside, the roads started to get covered, and though we have AWD, we don't have snow tires and the chains seemed like the best option. We pulled over and had the chains on all four tires within about 20 minutes. The car ran like a tank through the snow (and later, ice-covered roads) and I'm really happy we went with the chains rather than cables. After putting on the chains, we drove about 100 yards to check and tighten them. They were actually pretty tight - only had to tighten one. They really really came in handy driving through the Yosemite Valley, and the email responses I got from Bob prior to buying these showed me great customer service. The shipping speed was top notch as well, and overall, I'm happy that we went with etrailer to get these chains for our snow-covered trip to Yosemite.

After a year of owning these chains, still couldnt be happier. Weve moved from CA to the east coast and though we havent yet had the need to put the chains on, we keep them in the car just in case. Having the peace of mind that I can stop and put them on quickly if needed makes me happy, and I still am very glad that I was able to get these from eTrailer with guidance from Bob

Review from a similar Diamond Alloy in Tire Chains

They seem like good chains, but they don't seem to fit my 2021 Toyota Sienna AWD tires like it said they should (235/65/17). The tensioner chain is too short for me to pull tension on adjacent yellow chains and I am worried this will negatively impact the chains stability on my tires. I can barely get the rubber tensioner through the first red ring after pulling and readjusting several times. This is my first time using snow tire chains... Would someone with experience be able to let me know if this is OK or if I should buy some different chains?

I wanted to let you know that I had also reached out to the manufacturer about the tire chains. They advised that the installation looked good to them and the way the chain set up is fine. If you have to use them then it is possible, they will loosen up with use.

Review from a similar Diamond Alloy in Tire Chains

Excellent service and a very good product. I had a slight issue and they handled it right away. The product itself is like a knobby ice and snow grabber, it works well. I have a 2wd and am considering a second pair for the front tires. Installation is straightforward. I always advise practicing the install multiple times at home because it’s a lot more difficult in sub 20f temps ;).

I highly recommend the product, etrailer, and winter tires

Ps buy a few backup rubber tighteners just in case!

Review from a similar Diamond Alloy in Tire Chains

Chain tire set was received several days before the date indicated in the order. My tire size 275/65-20 was not listed on the label of the TC2335 chain set received, even though it was indicated to be good for my tire size by Etrailer. I test fitted the chains in accordance with the etrailer video and it fit just fine as you can see in the attached photo. These chains should do well for our National Park trip in a few months.

Often the tire chain bags will not list every size that they will fit. Many will have a long list of sizes.

Review from a similar Diamond Alloy in Tire Chains

I have no previous experience with vehicle tire chains. I ordered and received these Titan chains from etrailer in a very timely manner. The only reason for my 4 of 5 stars is that I have yet to use them. I took pictures after installing on a rear tire of my 2006 GMC Sierra 1500. LT 265/70-17. These Titan chains seem to fit very well. Etrailer's installation video helped make my 1st attempt easy and successful. Thank you etrailer!

Review from a similar Diamond Alloy in Tire Chains

Great service, tracking, and follow up. Chains showed up a day early too. I ordered the Diamond chains for 265/70R17 KO'2 tires. Fit good, easy to install. Note in image that I put my tires up on blocks to install. This works quite nicely, especially with the edge lugs on the tires to get things lined up and properly fit. Much easier, cleaner, and warmer to fit chains in the garage or driveway before crawling around on ice, snow, and slush with cold hands etc...

Review from a similar Diamond Alloy in Tire Chains

Jessica was very helpful selecting which chains to purchase. They fit well, the price was very competitive and arrived quickly. I had to deliver some material to a mountain location and needed to go down a couple of steep inclines. I put chains on all four tires of my truck and one axle on the trailer. I didn't have any slipping or sliding on an icy snow-packed road.

Review from a similar Diamond Alloy in Tire Chains

The chains go on much more easily than the old ladder type and of course offer great traction. Be sure to take them off in exactly the reverse order as you put them on. Otherwise, like me, you will have to climb under the truck to get them off. As always E-trailer under promises and out performs getting these back ordered chains to me before i head off to the mountains from frozen Northern Minnesota.

After a year I’ve only needed them three times. I don’t recommend keeping them on if you go over 40 MPH. One of my chains broke but they include repair links so easy fix.

  • Best Snow Tire Chains for a 2018 Ram ProMaster 2500 with 225/75-16 Tires
I have great news for you. The owner's manual for your ProMaster is very lenient in regards to tire chain use on your vehicle which means you have an excellent selection to choose from. The only restrictions are that you install them on the front two tires and they are a non-cam type. The Titan Chain # TC2519 is a good choice. These chains have a diamond pattern and will provide a much smoother ride than the ladder pattern of the Glacier Alloy as well as offer more grip. They also have...

  • Recommended Tire Chains For 2003 Freightliner Sprinter With 225/75R16 Tires
I checked out the owner's manual for your 2003 Sprinter and found that snow tire chains can only be used on the rear tires. There is no mention that Class S chains are required. For the tire size you said you have on your Freightliner I recommend the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains, part # TC2519. These are easily installed and have built-in tensioners. I have attached a link to a product review video for these chains you can check out.

The best tire chains I recommend for the 2018 Ford Transit with 235/65-16 within that price range are the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link - 1 Pair Item # TC2519. I recommend a diamond pattern chain over a ladder pattern because you have more chain covering the tire which offers better traction because you have more chain making contact with the ground and you have better ride quality. Each square link has two flat sides which means the chain is going...

The tire chains I recommend for your 2018 Ram ProMaster 1500 are the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC2319 because not only do they offer outstanding traction but the links are just 0.145 inches and are Class S compatible, which means they will be better for clearance between the chains and wheel well than the thicker Titan # TC2519 you referenced. The Titan Chains # TC2319 have a diamond pattern to maximize stopping power and have a simple, drape-over installation. I have included...

  • Tire Chain Recommendation for 2013 Jeep Wrangler with 225/75-16 Size Tires
You didn't tell me what tire size you do have, but chances are you have the 225/75-16 as both tire chains you mentioned are a fit for this size. Essentially both chain sizes will provide you with the same thing in terms of performance and install. The chains are slightly different size but there is a bit of overlap between tire sizes and the chains that fit them. The slightly bigger set is the # TC2319 which would probably be your better option since you have off road tires.

  • Tire Chain Recommendation for a 2007 Ford E-350 Van
The chain link thickness is the difference between tire chains # TC2319 and # TC2519. The smaller TC2319 has 3.7mm links whereas the TC2519 has 5.5mm links. I checked the owner's manual for the 2007 Ford E-350 and it does require the use of Class S chains. The TC2319 chains are Class S but the TC2519 chains are not. So between the two I would go with # TC2319 if your van has 225/75-16 tires. If you have a different tire size let me know.
